Broadkill Beach is a rare and precious find. It is close to all the activities of the Delaware beaches, yet away from the traffic and the 'maddening crowd', quieter, more private and the beaches are less crowded. The gentle waves of the Delaware Bay make it safer for children and great for swimming. Kayak and bicycle rental and delivery available.

I live in Annapolis, and my sister, and brother-in-law live in Baltimore. We bought this house as a retreat for us, and our families, and a place for me to write a book, which came out in 2010. There's a desk in the hot tub room, that has the best seat in the house and the best view of the water. It's been a blessing in my life, and in the lives of those who have vacationed here, as you can see from the reviews of the house.
Abby Rosen purchased this house in 2008
One of the reasons I loved this house is that there are two identical master bedrooms. I knew if my sister and I both came at the same time, we would both argue that the other person should get the best master bedroom. With having two identical masters, that is never an issue.
This was our second year here. We absolutely love this home and visit it yearly. Our children consider it our home away from home. It is well appointed and so quiet and peaceful. From the long days at the secluded beach (just a short walk) to the peaceful evenings spent together at the house, this place is just perfect. It truly is a little slice of heaven, we are blessed to have found this beautiful home. And the owners are top notch to deal with.
Having just left this beautiful beach house, we are ready to return. From the toddler digging holes in the sand, to the dog trying to catch and eat the waves, to this grandmother sitting on the almost deserted beach reading, we all enjoyed our time there. Abby and Diane were most understanding and patient, with the mechanical issues. The views, the house itself, the beach, the area. Perfect, beautiful. As soon as you open the front door you will feel welcome at your home for the week.
Abby and Diane, thank you.
It was only a blessing from GOD that we were able to to find this vacation home. We had a GREAT Family Reunion with siblings, nieces, nephews and grands. The whole family spoke of how awesome this place was and the excitement of being near the beach. It was so convenient to be able to come together to cook, sit and eat out on the patio while viewing the beautiful ocean and have Fun, Fun, Fun; from swimming to running relays on the beach to building sandcastles. Thank you so much Abby, Diane and Jim for Everything! We'll Be Back!!!
After 30 years of marriage and no children, my husband and I brought a puppy inter home last summer. That has changed everything - including vacation options! It was so wonderful to find Abby's dog-friendly beach house near Lewes, Delaware. It sounded too good to be true! It is all true - all that she describes, plus lots of unmentioned thoughtful touches that surprise you when you arrive. And the house is even better than the photos! We had wonderful views of the beach and the bay from bedroom, kitchen, dining room, living room and hot tub! The screened porch was so perfect - on the rainy day, we were able to sit outside and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Choose this vacation home without hesitation. You will have a wonderful experience.
I just wanted to let you know we are sooooooo enjoying your piece of heaven here in Broadkill Beach. The house is even more stunning than the pictures!!!! We are loving our week and just wanted to take a moment to thank you for sharing this with our family. We are forever grateful. Even my husband said last night we will never stay anywhere else in Delaware!!! The house has been appointed with everything we could possibly need!!!
Also, wanted to say a special thanks for the welcome bag. What a nice touch to be greeted by. So, so super sweet of you!! And thanks for the dog balls for our sweet girl, Rocket.
Thanks again, Abby!!! I won't want the week to end :-(

What a location! ...... at the end of the road next to a nature preserve .... unobstructed views of the beach. And, all this so close to our home. We achieved travel time of only 1:40 minutes, both to and from Broadkill Beach. What a comfortable house to boot! We liked Barry's (and his daughter's) art throughout the house and easily picked out the tree he drew from just across the chain link fence (it was depicted in one of the plates of his coffee table book).
We enjoyed the local beach store's homemade donuts and fantastic sub sandwiches. We dined at “Cafe Azafran” and “Half Full”. Both were very good and great locations. But mostly we spent our week taking long walks up and down the Broadkill, Fowler and even Slaughter beaches with Reno (our dog). Five of the seven days, there was not a soul within sight on the beaches and Reno was able to run free for hours at a time. Back at your lovely house which is architected just right for fabulous views from all the main living spaces, we enjoyed some good home cooking (well equipped kitchen) and lots of good wine and a couple evenings with the fireplace seeing a log or two. We did use the new outdoor gas grill - thanks for having that.
Again, thanks for sharing your gem on the beach.
The Prime Hook WIldlife Refuge is very close. There is birdwatching all year and hayrides through the park on festival days. The Rookery Golf Course is 2 miles away. Convenient place to stay for the Rehoboth Film Festival in November and Nascar Races in Dover. The house is close to Lewes, Delaware, where there is the Cape May/Lewes Ferry, and also close to the Rehoboth outlets and 12 Movie at Midway Theater. There are also lots of great restaurants where renters who stay at our house get free champagne, and at another 10% off their food and drink bill.

Renters will be emailed a contract and then they sign and send in 1/2 the total cost to reserve the rental. A month before they arrive, they send the final payment, and then I'll email them about how to get in, the directions, and what to bring for their rental. The letter also includes restaurants that we like.
