About Cory Tomovick

We live in the Black Hills of South Dakota in a place known as the Stratobowl. This geological wonder is carved from the combined effects of water erosion and the uplift of a fault line in the rugged Spring Creek canyon. Secluded and idyllic, the property is reminiscent of another era. Maybe it is the silence, the old limestone cliffs, or the song of the creek meandering through the seasons. As these ancient voices surround us, we breathe in all the natural beauty. Peace melts into our being and comes out as creative expressions. When the moon is full, the canyon becomes an illuminated, mystical experience. That is why, at one time, this place was named 'Moon Valley'. Then, in 1934 and 1935, the Army Air corps and National Geographic Society launched manned balloon flights into the stratosphere from here. It was then, that the family field aquired its new name of 'The Stratobowl' while becoming the birth place for the space age.

Perfect cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Our vacation was absolutely perfect! The cabin is lovely and large, with everything you need available. The location is wonderful, situated in the woods where we saw tons of wildlife. The owners are gracious and kind. Best vacation we've taken and we will definitely be back!

Very private, quiet getaway for our family with a great history! We enjoyed our return trip to the Stratobowl vacation home. Ken & Cory are the most down to earth, beautiful people, and we're honored to have met them. They humbly opened their home to us, and we enjoyed "unplugging" for a couple days. The proximity to Rapid City & Central Hills is perfect. This will be our go-to accommodations from here on when we visit our old stomping grounds in the beautiful Black Hills! Thank you! Chris, Holly & gals

PS: Check out the Stratobowl display at the Journey Museum in Rapid!

The rental had everything you needed, even deer every morning and evening. The house was very clean and updated. The deck went around the whole house and the views from any side were awesome. Sitting on the deck drinking wine watching the deer and listening to the creek is all you need. It was so relaxing. Ken and Cory are close by if you need anything. The property is unreal and so beautiful. It had several great trails for exploring. Close to town but in the middle of the mountains. We will be back

Marvelous and Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at Ken and Cory's rental house for 3 nights last week and the natural beauty of the location and the home left us breathless. Watching the deer every morning and watching the foxes drink from the stream from the deck is surreal. I can't wait to go back to this place and would definitely recommend this property to anyone who plans to go out to the Black Hills. Our sincere thanks to both Ken and Cory for allowing us to rent out this property.

Absolutely Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at this property for 4 days last week and it was truly incredible! The owners are so nice and made the stay that much more enjoyable. The property is stunning and the surroundings are unlike anything we've ever seen. The creek flowing behind the house was so peaceful. We will definitely be coming back to this property for another family vacation.

Awesome House in an Awesome Location!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time at Ken and Cory's rental house in the Stratobowl. Ken gave us a great tour of the land when we got there and it was fun hearing about the history of the Stratobowl. Some of the highlights were the wrap-around deck, the loft, watching the deer on the property, feeding the pigs, going to the swimming hole, the beautiful views all around, and the trail to the top of the Stratobowl. Thanks again! Our three and five-year-old boys loved everything, too! We will definitely be back!
