Tucked into a cluster of homes on a hilltop, La Giara is a villa with gorgeous views and a long history. Dating from the 12th century, the villa was once the summer residence of the Bishop of Florence. Over the centuries, its been expanded and renovated, and today is a rustic-style five-bedroom retreat with traditional decor, beautiful outdoor spaces and modern amenities.
The villas living spaces open to a gravel terrace, which has an outdoor dining area, panoramic views and a constant refreshing breeze. Bring a book or picnic outside and enjoy in the shade of the trees or umbrellas, or stroll the terraced garden down to the pool deck, which is furnished with loungers and side tables. Walking a bit further, youll find fruit and olive trees, as well as a vegetable garden. Inside, La Giara is well-equipped for relaxing with a wine cellar, Wi-Fi access and a ping-pong table.
While the property still has features like marble-edged fireplaces and tile floors, its walls have been updated with a soft, pastel-tinged palette and painted accents. The furniture is a comfortable, cheerful mix, from a plush red sofa and cream-colored armchairs to woven mid century-style lounge chairs and canvas campaign chairs. In the dining room, Louis Ghost chairs are a surprising modern touch, while the fully equipped kitchen has a more casual farmhouse-style table and benches.
La Giaras five bedrooms are decorated with the same charm; keep an eye out in the pretty trompe loeil wall paintings for hidden doors. There are two bedrooms with double beds and en-suite bathrooms, one bedroom with a French bed and en-suite bathroom, and one bedroom with a double bed that has a guest bathroom. The fifth bedroom has a double bed, bathroom and access to a studio with a single bed.
The villa is surrounded by quiet streets perfect for walking or cycling. By car, its just 3 miles to the grocery store, the Sieci train station and the town of Molino del Piano. Theres a restaurant in Pontassieve, 6 miles away, but the dining, shopping and museums of Florence are only 10 miles away. Youll find the Ugolino Florence golf course about 12 miles away, and the Florence airport about 22 miles away.

When you dream of an authentic, charming, luxurious and an exhilarating place to stay in Tuscany, look no further - La Giara is simply perfect.
It's an astounding renovation of an old medieval villa done with taste, sensitivity and relentless attention to detail. The surrounding area is quintessentially Tuscan, with rolling green hills, vineyards and olive groves abound.
Great villa, view unbelievable, great restaurants relatively close. On site person was unbelievable.
Located quite far from Florence but close to be able to go everyday (about 45'), it is a charming, authentic spot. Everything single detail is beautiful inside the house and the surroundings are stunning.Much appreciated help by Jose. The house is comfy and has all the amenities and the atmosphere we were looking for. The pool is also very enjoyable.
It is only missing a charming village close by but the nature - Olive trees and vineyards near by are absolutely beautiful. Fabulous kitchen.
