Why The Owner chose Puntarenas

Hands down, this is the most beautiful area in Costa Rica.

What makes this chalet unique

This unique property offers incredible views of waterfalls, mountains and valleys. At the base of the property runs the Diamante River. It's pristine, crystal clear water offers endless enjoyment in several private pools including waterfalls. We also include daily horseback riding and offer incredible nearby tours.

A Good Stay

  • 4 of 5

We recently spent two weeks here. The first week with my sister, the second with my husband. Everyone has their own expectations and this was apparent to me being the one who was there for the full two weeks. We all can agree that the setting is amazing, watching the weather coming and going all day and night. Was this place too far out there for my We still went to Dominical and elsewhere to explore the sights nearby and had some great dining experiences. We even did an ATV tour with Karl that we enjoyed immensely. For my husband and me, we were just where we wanted to be. The local community is awesome and you can find all you need "in town" or a short drive away on fairly decent local roads that connect to a good paved road that takes you to Dominical or San Isidro.

Big disappointment!!

  • 2 of 5

I hate to write a bad review but this place was definitely not as advertised. The location and view were beautiful but the 30 minute drive on the worst road I have ever driven was not. The roads are bad in Costa Rica but this was beyond bad. I expected the place to be secluded but there was absolutely nothing nearby. When we arrived I asked about the pool and was told it wasn't at the house you had to drive through a cow pasture and down to the river. We never were shown where it was. No outdoor shower with a view of the falls,no romantic hilltop rancho for dinners. Both were advertised in the listing. By the third day we looked for something else for the rest of the month. Also Karl's behaviour was not what we expected. Of course we still had to pay him which we did but I entered his email incorrectly and Pay Pal couldn't forward it. We received several messages cursing and threatening us if we didn't pay. Not very professional. All in all not a pleasant way to start our trip but the rest was great. I definitely would not recommend this property for anyone

Owner's Response: Allow me to take a moment to respond to a poor review. I hope it gets posted alongside it. I will agree that your complaint of our road is somewhat justified. However: this IS a third-world country. Trust me, there are much worse roads. The road is only rough on two short hills entering the valley. Although, I have to think your timid driving skills must be considered. You DID get stuck in a place where one would normally have no problem and I DID come get you out, even though for some reason you were unable to do so. BTW: You’re welcome for that. Thank you so much for the bad review. To say the property is not as advertised is nonsense. It IS advertised as being remote. If you want the amenities of Jacó, you should go to Jacó, not the middle of nature as we advertise. What in the world were you expecting? The rental IS situated on a large farm (as advertised) and I am sorry but the pools (and they are spectacular!) are not located right next to the rental. Since they are labeled as being ‘jungle pool’ and ‘river pool’, I do not understand why you would expect otherwise. No, I did not show you the pools and the back part of the farm, as promised. I partially explained why, in that witnessing your poor driving skills I felt that you would simply get stuck in the back of the farm and I would have to come get you. Again. What I did not explain, out of respect, was that I felt you were not physically capable of dealing with the terrain where the pools are located. You are obviously not in good health and I did not want you to have any problems. There IS in fact, a beautiful rancho. Once again, I did not think you capable of getting there. As I recall, you had rented for two weeks. You stayed one week and left the property without paying your outstanding balance. Correct? I sent you numerous emails and texts of which none you even had the courtesy to respond to. I ended up contacting realtors in Dominical to find you and only after that did you even make any attempt at contacting me. In short, I stand by our property and my actions toward you. I was nothing but very accommodating until you left the property without paying and then, yes, my attitude towards you did change. I would have even prorated things if you had the courtesy to do things in an honest manner. Once again, you failed by leaving without paying. What do you expect? There should be some kind of sight to warn business owners about people like you!

we where pleasantly surprised when we arrived at our casita. Indeed a beautifull location, a mix of countryside and rainforest with many gravelroads in the area to explore the surounding areas (best to have 4x4). Coast to reach in a onehourdrive. The house is recentlybuild and very homely with beautifull vistas .We spent a couple of weeks and we were very sad to leave the place that already felt home. Karl who runs the place is a very charming person and did all he could to make us feel at ease and share his knowledge of the area. If you enjoy nature, privacy in a peacefull location you will like the place.
