Clean and spacious condo in a quiet family neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in the first floor condo of a 3-story older home with condos on each floor; the owner lives in a basement unit. The condo appeared to have been recently renovated and was very, very clean and spacious, well-maintained, lovely hardwood floors, nicely decorated with 3 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and dining room, two bathrooms (one with a tub/shower, sink and toilet; a second with a shower and sink). There were lots of good quality towels. Most of the rooms had ceiling fans and wall air conditioner units, and the windows could be opened, so it was easy to keep the temperature comfortable (late June/early July). There was a lovely deck that we enjoyed sitting out on in the evenings, and you could catch some sun during the days. The kitchen was reasonably well stocked, although we would recommend adding salt/pepper shakers, placemats, tea towels and a paring knife. Free internet access was available, but we sometimes had problems with our connection. One parking pass was provided for street parking, and the owner was able to provide a solution for parking a second vehicle.

The house is located in a quiet, family oriented neighborhood, reasonably close to a main street and a highway access, and it was usually about a 15 minute drive to Harvard (one of our party was taking a course and had to go there on a daily basis). We tried out several of the local restaurants suggested by the owner, and they were good. The owner was accessible by phone, and very pleasant and helpful. We had a very enjoyable stay, and would definitely return.

Nice house, nicely kept up. Just needs a full length mirror somewhere.

  • 4 of 5

Everything worked smoothly. The parking pass wasn't there when we arrived but Chris was prompt in getting it to us with no problem.

I would suggest a full length mirror somewhere in one of the bedrooms. There are really only two mirrors and both are small in the house.

Owner's Response: Yes the cleaner put the parking pass in her cleaning bin. Rather than in the unit. It took minutes to fix. And I better get a full length mirror. Thanks Chris

Daughters Graduation week

  • 5 of 5

We were there for a week enjoying the sites and having a great time at my daughters graduation at BU. Everything was comfortable for the six of us and the underground got us to where we needed to go. One thing I see missing in other reviews is the washer and dryer that came along with this unit, it was well needed and used. You don't get this in other rentals. If you come by air then the Under ground will get you to the Sullivan Station cheaply and fast!

Hats off to Chris, he answered our questions quickly and any issues were covered. Thanks again, would recommend for another stay.

Boston Stay

  • 3 of 5

The house was a convenient walking distance from the Subway Station. It was clean and well equipped. The only issues I had were:

The listing indicated that there were 2 bathrooms; I assumed that meant 2 toilets and there was only one toilet, which was a challenge for 6 people.

The listing showed pictures of 5 beds - 2 twins and 3 large beds pictured with different comforters. Even though the listing stated that there were 3 bedrooms, I assumed that one of the 3 larger beds must be in a study or something. That posed a problem when we got there and there were only 4 beds instead of the 5 pictured. If the same bed is posted twice in the listing (with 2 different comforters) that might need to be modified.

Other than that, the kitchen was large enough for 6 of us to gather for meals and we enjoyed our trip. Thank you.

Owner's Response: Well the group that came was a church group on vacation. They needed 6 beds and here is where the problem lies. The 3 bedroom shows very clearly that there are 2 kings and an option room for either a king or 2 singles. She never called me to bring up this problem. I could of provided a blow up mattress. But that still would of been 1 bed short. This is plenty big enough for a family of 6. Maybe a phone call could of cleared this all up. I ASSUME. Chris the owner

Great week with the family in Boston!

  • 4 of 5

The location of this property is great. It is 1/2 mile from Sullivan Station which makes for a good walk but we drove and parked the car at the station. The neighborhood seems fine, but we weren't sure about walking home after dark since it seems a little dicey in parts. There is a bus stop just a few blocks away that would likely take you to the station, but since we had a car we just drove. The home itself felt safe and was easy to get in and out of. The location is great-giving you the ability to get all over Boston without getting on the freeway if it is congested or to easily get to the freeway if you are heading out of town. Plenty of space with the three bedrooms, however, know that although there are two showers and sinks, there is only one toilet in the house. This wasn't a huge deal for a family with four kids, but more grown ups may have been a problem. That really was the only draw back on this property. We had a wonderful time~thank you for opening your home to us!

Owner's Response: I am very happy you enjoyed your stay at my condo. Most of my vacation families don't rent a car due to the convenience to Sullivan Square only a quarter mile away. Making your travel to Boston/ Cambridge actually most of Boston's historic attractions very convenient to get to.. It may have been a difficult walk with 4 kids after along day but safety has never been an issue. My condo is located in a family neighborhood. If you and your family travel back to Boston hope you would stay in one of my condos again. Thank you, Chris

Had a great experience

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for myself and two business colleagues that were in Boston for several days for business. Hotels in Boston are just outrageous, particularly this time of year, and this was a wonderful alternative. The apartment is on a quiet street, it is clean and comfortable and was just right for our needs. I'd highly recommend it for business or personal travel. Great for both families and business situations. Its close to Cambridge and access into central Boston was easy, though we mostly utilized Uber because of our business schedule to/from. Even so, that was an easy and reasonable alternative to public transport.

Owner's Response: Attention traveler!!!! The use of Uber makes everything close. Better than taxi's and public transportation to and from airport.
