We rented the furnished apartment near MRT STA Jan.9, 2015. We had to leave, it was disgustingly dirty. There is mold all over the shower and window sills, the frying pan and knives had food and grease stuck on them, top of fridge full of dust and dirt, used bars of soap in the bathroom, air vent of the air conditioning was not clean, the bedding didn't smell clean, nothing looked clean, dirt everywhere you look, even under bathroom cupboard. There is no clean smell anywhere. There are cockroach/bug traps everywhere (better than seeing the bugs I guess). We have stayed in MANY apartments/condos all over the world and none of them were dirty. She obviously has a different standard of cleanliness then we do. HOWEVER Elaine was a good host as far as making sure we arrived, she called us through our taxi driver when he met us at the airport. She emailed instructions to pick up keys and how to get in, as it was after midnight.
The wifi worked good in the apartment. Canada
Elaine was very easy to deal with and conscientous. She had nice information available in the apartment (clear instructions, maps, tourist info). The apartment is a bit worn and the sink leaked while we were there, but it was generally clean and nice to have a bit more space than a hotel. There was some construction noise while we were there but not bad and only off and on during a couple weekdays. The apartment is on 2nd floor right above a busy street, but it is not too noisy if you're not super sensitive (we live in Shanghai on the 17th floor and it is much louder...Taiwanese drivers don't constantly honk their horns:-).
The metro is close and easy to use in Taipei. You have plenty of little shops, supermarket, malls nearby. This was a much better value for us versus staying in a hotel.
Thanks Elaine, you have been a great host. Love your studio, will look for you again for our next Taipei trip! Highly recommended for anyone. Minutes walk to MRT/bus, night market and supermaket! Best wishes and hope to catch up soon again.
