Ganges village abounds with excellent restaurants, a natural food store, two bustling grocery stores and several liquor stores.

Salt Spring is an island with a mild climate, year round golf and walking weather, and even during the winter months lots of sunny days. It is a great place to relax and recreate and easy to get to by three different ferries or by air. There is also now an excellent bus service.

I have been married for more than 30 years to my dear husband Nicholas Hunt. We have 2 wonderful children and 3 cats. Much of our life was spent in the book business in Vancouver; now we have a gallery of studio furniture and landscape art. We love to cook, eat, walk, read, garden and play bridge.
Celia Duthie purchased this studio in 2004
We chose our location because it is a very pretty property and lovely cottage; we are close to Ganges so we and the kids can walk there and our gallery is also within walking distance for boaters.
Visitors to the Gallery B&B will enjoy the art and studio furniture in the suite, the landscape art and sculpture on the property and the stunning and original work in the Duthie Gallery. As hosts we can recommend restaurants, studios and excursions, and provide maps of trails for hikes and rambles.
The suite is completely private, with a private entrance; guests will feel they're in their own place while staying with us at the Gallery B &B.
The kitchen is well equipped for gourmet cooking and when in season fresh greens and vegetables from the garden will also be available.
With our background in books, and being serious readers ourselves, there is always a good supply of current books and magazines available in the suite.
Visitors to our Gallery B&B suite will also enjoy its close proximity to Ganges village, Churchill beach and, for lavish dining, the Hastings House hotel, directly across the street.
Exceeded our expectations. Quiet and quaint. Had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Walking distance into town. The owners are lovely. Very accommodating.
Enjoyed the proximity to town
Would like to see a micro wave (we missed it)
My husband and I stayed two nights at The Duthie Gallery B&B Suite. Celia and Nick were gracious hosts and made us feel most welcome. Nick gave us some tips on hiking trails. Celia gave us tips on local places to visit and dine at. Breakfast supplies and teas were thoughtfully provided. We delighted being surrounded by beautiful works of art in the suite itself, including the furniture. Only a short walk into town, made the B&B a really ideal location. Celia's love of gardening clearly shows in the garden, such a peaceful, beautiful location.
We marveled at the wood and bronze sculptures in the Gallery and Gallery Garden. At night the garden is illuminated, giving the pieces a different perspective and twist.
We thoroughly enjoyed meeting Celia and Nick and staying at their lovely Gallery B&B. An experience to be remembered.
A perfect place for our weekend getaway. Property is surrounded by lush vegetation and great walking trail choices - this is the ideal spot!! Supplies to make breakfast were more than enough and delicious! Kept us fed for our island exploring adventures. Would (and hopefully will) be coming back soon! Celia and Nick were wonderful hosts - super friendly and have a great deal of information on what to do on the island. Cannot recommend enough!
My best friend and I have just returned from a weekend away on SSI, and we must say that our stay at this B & B was beyond our expectations.
The property is within easy walking distance to Ganges Village and the Saturday Market, and more generally, the property is centrally located on the island making travel to any corner of SSI relatively close and convenient.
The Gallery B & B is clean and well-maintained, and offers everything a guest would ever need for a relaxing stay on SSI. Celia and Nick are amazing hosts who have clearly put much thought into every aspect of the B & B experience. A beautiful vase of fresh-cut flowers on the table, gorgeous art pieces within the suite, tasteful décor throughout, and a variety of well-chosen reading materials (books and magazines) to relax with (but I would expect no less from the Duthie Books family!) are awaiting arriving guests. We were also particularly impressed by the exceptionally generous breakfast bounty provided by our hosts which included, among many other breakfast items, the oft-mentioned delicious homemade blackberry jam and granola with nuts that other visitors have already raved about.
Do ensure that you leave time to wander through Duthie Gallery’s amazing outdoor sculpture gallery filled with gorgeous works from local artists. During my stay, I was only able to experience the sculptures during the day, but I hope to return again in the future to have a chance to experience wandering the gallery in the evening when it is lit (you can ask Celia and Nick about the “Night Gallery” schedule when booking your stay).
Celia and Nick are most gracious hosts, and I will recommend their Gallery B & B to any family, friends, and colleagues looking to plan a welcoming, restful, and unique stay on SSI.
This suite was possibly the most lovely I have ever stayed in. We were met by the truly delightful owners, who made us feel welcome immediately. The grounds, which double as a sculpture gallery, are as peaceful as they are spectacular. The suite itself is very well maintained and tastefully furnished, but it was the breakfast that delighted us the most... fresh coffee, free range eggs, the most wonderful homemade blackberry jam you've ever tasted, and delicious granola. The highlight of my time there was eating these delights while sunning myself in the suite's private patio.
Many thanks for a truly wonderful weekend.
