This is the home my wife grew up in and then we ended up buying it in 2001. We held it as a yearly rental property but decided in 2011 to renovate it completely and use it as a second home and vacation rental. We went down to the studs and completely redid the interior with all new windows, plumbing, electrical, cabinets, 2 central AC units and refinished the antique wood floors. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
The downstairs is set up with the kitchen, dining and living room serving as a great room with a double-sided fireplace. You'll love the large new deck overlooking the river. The house is situated on an acre with lots of trees, bamboo and azaleas. There are neighbors on each side but they are not that close to our house and the lush foliage and trees will make you feel very secluded. All the amenities of the North Shore are just minutes away or drive to New Orleans in about 45 minutes.
The house was very damped, we where not able to air out on the first floor, since the windows couldn't open.
It felt like nobody had been there for a long time. 1 person in our party is allergic to fungus and she reacted immediately. We had to find a hotel for her same night. The deck wasn't swept, again, nobody had been there to get the house ready.
We had a lovely, quiet, private stay at Magnolia Bluff. The property is surrounded by beautiful magnolias, cypress, pines, and oaks. We really enjoyed the deck overlooking the river in the mornings for coffee, and the screened in porch for evenings listening to the rain. Everything is clean and comfortable. Good restaurants and antiquing nearby. We all had a wonderful time.
Hope to go back for every LA visit.
Very comfortable, roomy, good beds with TV's in every room, lots of hot water, kitchen with everything you'd ever need, plenty of dinnerware plus the Frisby's are super nice & very pleasant to deal with.
We rented Magnolia Bluff for our family celebrating our nephews wedding. The home provided us the space to all feel comfortable in. There are tons of supplies and amenities already there. You will find many games supplied which will keep old and young occupied. We could not have asked for a better location. Thanks so much for allowing us to stay at your home.
My family which included 5 adults and 4 children stayed here for a week in the summer for a family reunion. It was wonderful to be able to stay in Covington so we could be close to our family who lives there but still have all the amenities of a home (vs hotel rooms). Comfortable beds, beautiful kitchen and bathrooms, and great outdoor space. Truly couldn't have asked for a better place to spend time with family on vacation!!
We held a family gathering here as I was visiting from New Zealand and although I have two sisters who live in Mandeville, there were various family members from other parts of the country coming in as well. The screened porch was perfect for those with little children to play. The spacious living area was perfect for visiting, and the comfortable beds were very welcome indeed. We hope to,repeat the experience in perhaps another two years time, and would definitely try to,stay here again.
