Storybook home with private, white sand beach. Watch sunsets from the end of your private dock.
This is NOT a traditional rental property. It is the owner's summer home.
The home took 8 years to decorate. It was home to one of one of Orlando's premier interior artist/decorators. All walls are treated. Many are Venetian plaster. Others are 'faux', 'ragged', etc. Furniture is a combination of hand picked designer pieces, antiques or antique reproductions. Bed and wall coverings are from well known designers, professionally chosen/made to coordinate with the rooms' ceilings, wall and window coverings. The dining room seats 8. Minton, Royal Daulton and Dresden china and crystal. Silverplate serving set.
The gardens and bird areas are lovingly maintained.
This house will appeal to a single/couple living in an upscale home/apt. in the north or Europe who want to relax for the winter in the kind of home-like setting they're used to.
Plant your own flowers/plants or work with ours. Feed the birds, Bring your own materials and use the lakeside artist's studio. Add your own movies to our collection. And if you want to come back next year, you're welcome to store your things in the attic above the garage,
If you love Venetian design and architecture, you will love this home. Our friends describe it as The Venetian Hotel meets 'On Golden Pond'. The artist created each room to make its own statement.
Her specialty is Venetian plaster and 'faux' paint. Her mastery of these art-forms is apparent throughout the house.
To maintain the Venetian theme, most floors are diamond polished, imported Travertine tile.
As you enter the home, the den/office is on the right through a set of french doors. The dining room is to the left. On the floor in front of you is a custom designed Travertine inlay. Ahead is the billiards room framed by two Venetian columns. You look through the double set of french doors in the billiards room out past the pool and deck at the lake.
Space and connections for your notebook. New Brother laser printer/fax/scanner included. Matching ceiling fan with remote.
The Venetian theme is the strongest here. The ceiling and crown molding is 'faux' painted in gold. The walls match with Venetian plaster and wainscot. The dining room set is exquisite. There is an antique reproduction in front of the window. The breakfront displays Royal Daulton figurines and Waterford Crystal.
The kitchen presents a French, countryside theme. The walls are brick face. The cabinetry is hand-painted solid wood. Most appliances are built-in. The counter top is the artist's own design using colored, slate tiles that coordinate with the 3 colors of the kitchen cabinetry.
The french doors/windows look out over our, deck pool, gardens and lake. Relax in the oversized, electric leather couches and chairs. End tables and a bombay style Venetian, marble cabinet complete the room. 55' LED Samsung TV with builtin media player and NetFlix. French doors lead to the pool area.
The ceiling is a reproduction of the one in the Caesar's Shops. To the left is an antique french fireplace and mirror. To the right is a one of a kind, Venetian, porcelain wall painting.
The sunken master suite's walls are the artist's own personal creation. Linens and coverings are designer. Stanley's, hand painted, black lacquer Portofino collection was chosen for this room. Instead of a King mattress/box set, there are 2 articulating beds with upgraded mattresses and individual remote controls allowing each partner his/her own sleeping or TV viewing position. The TV is a 45' Samsing LED (razor thin) model with media player. The suite includes an armoire, 3 dressers and a large secretary desk in the main room. The walkin and straight closets have custom cherry organizers. All of the closet space is available for use.
At the end of the hallway, past the closets, at the front of the house is the sunken tub. To the left is a very large, glassed, frameless shower. . To the right is a dual vanity with individual mirrors. There are 2 sinks built into the cultured marble counter top. The private toilet facility includes a bidet.
On the other side of the house is the guest facility. There are 2 guest rooms and a shared washroom that also leads to the pool area. One guest room uses a french countryside design. On the bed is an original, limited edition Ralph Lauren comforter. The bed and dresser are antique french reproductions. The other guest room doubles as an office/work area with an antique french day bed that doubles as a sofa during the day.
Pool and garden.
The pool deck area is very private. Neighbors have no view of this area. Weekly pool maintenance is included. There are gardens on both sides and at the rear of the pool. Behind the terrace, on the west side of the house, is a working herb garden. You are welcome to grow your own plants/flowers and do your own landscaping to compliment ours. The landscapers come once a week. That too is included in the rental. The house is surrounded by plants and flowers. Feel free to add to our gardens. There is a resident duck collection near the beach. They're taught to eat from your hands.
Beach and lake.
The lake is spring fed and crystal clear. Only electric motors are allowed. If you like to fish, you can cast from the pier or head over to the weedy areas in the jon boat. You can see the bass jumping out of the water on hot days.
The owner uses the studio to paint. You can paint or sculpt there or use it as a place to work or even put a bunk bed in there for young guests to camp out.

The owners are ex-Canadians living in Uruguay. The husband is a retired builder. The wife is a retired interior decorator.

The Orlando area is a fabulous place to live with thousands of things to do and places to see. It's so easy to get to with direct flights fly to Orlando from literally every major city in the world.
Ocoee is just outside the city. We're in an upscale subdivision that was built in the early 1990's so it has mature trees and landscaping. That gives it a nice, forested feel but there's a big supermarket (Publix) and super drugstore (Walgreens), 4 blocks away.
Taking a morning swim in the lake. Or boating across the lake on calm days. Enjoying sunsets from the pier. Watching movies/ or TV shows on HD TV's from the extensive video collection. Painting in the studio by the lake. Relaxing by the pool or lying on the beach. Playing billiards with friends and neighbors.
We have just arrived back from a wonderful 6 weeks stay and I am missing the morning lake view and peacefulness that this home has.
I don't want to be repetitive since the previous reviews have said it all. The house is amazingly comfortable and so well furnished. The lanai, terrace, pool and beach and dock are all wonderful spaces to enjoy the outdoors ... read, swim, take a nap, dream and just relax.
The house is at the end of a cul de sac, in a friendly and quiet neighborhood. The most noise we heard were the ducks taking their daily bath in front of the studio while flapping their wings.
This is not your typical rental. it is well cared for. There are maintenance services done every week but they are quick and efficient.
Irv is a phone call or email away if anything is needed and he responds quickly.
Location was ideal. Close to everything.
My wife and I stayed here for two weeks in March. I would agree with the comments of the previous reviewers. The house and yard are very lovely. It is very private (yet not always quiet). It is in a residential neighborhood and on the lake, so you hear the maintenance and day-to-day activities going on around you. The location is convenient to services and highways heading in all directions. It is 20-30 minutes to the airport, downtown Orlando, and the theme park area. Of particular delight to me is the upscale quality of the furnishings and electronics in the house. It is not a typical rental from that perspective. One can really feel at home almost immediately. The small patio and small pool are perfect for enjoying the Florida sun with ample shade when you need it. The solar pool heater works fantasticly well. The screened in porch is a bonus.
This is one of the best VRBO properties I have ever rented for the following reasons:
1) the house was way more than advertised
2) the owners were over-the-top accommodating
3) the location was central to everything yet NO ORLANDO TRAFFIC!
4) no nickel and dime-ing for all the extras (cleaning, taxes, pool heating, etc.)
5) everything was just very easy...no surprises here
What we liked the most: beautifully decorated & landscaped with lots of extras not even mentioned in the ad; very private setting (we loved feeding the fish and seagulls from the private beach/dock); away from the Orlando traffic yet within 30 minutes of everything; great neighborhood; lots of amenities within a mile or two;
What we liked the least: that we're leaving tomorrow :(
Irv the owner was a pleasure to deal with. He was always a 5-minute email or phone call away. He always went way above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay.
A couple of awesome finds we'd like to pass on: Rus-Teak is a local restaurant about 10 minutes away. Mondays is 1/2 price bottle of wine with live entertainment and the food is fantastic! I had a pistachio-encrusted scallop & pasta dish that was delicious. Also try The Back Room in Apopka (about 20 minutes away) for the best steak ever. My husband has always worshiped Ruth's Chris but after The Back Room he says Ruth who?
Seems not many folks know where Ocoee is and I'm thinking that's exactly what makes this place so special. Shhhhhhhh
What can I say but WOW! WOW! WOW! After a great deal of research and anticipation, we were thrilled beyond our expectations with this beautiful, beautiful home. It is everything described on VRBO to the detail, and the photos, while accurate, are not adequate in that the exquisite decor, quality furnishings, linens, and other amenities must be seen and LIVED IN to be appreciated. My husband and I are American, but our work includes a lot of international travel, including a residence in London. We especially enjoyed the European theme and touches in every room of this home. Also uncommonly charming are the garden, lanai, pool area, dock, and beach. We loved lounging, eating breakfast, grilling dinner, or even doing our computer work outdoors (Florida winters are near perfect). The house is on a very quiet cul-de-sac and is really ideal for adults: our daughter and son-in-law stayed in the second bedroom, while our other grown children, who were staying nearby, sometimes joined us in the very lovely, comfortable living room for a movie or games. Our sons also had a lot of fun with the pool table, and we all used both office spaces to carry on our work. While the house is a great fit for adults, I would not recommend it for families with children, at least small children, as there are so many nice things about and several of the rooms are a step up or down (also not ideal for those with mobility issues). The owners themselves, are extremely accommodating; we felt that they were sincerely anxious for our comfort, and the comprehensive alarm system also gave us a real sense of security. If you are looking for a beautiful, comfortable, sophisticated vacation rental in Central Florida, you won't find anything better. We cannot recommend it this home highly enough.
