About Brenda DiBenedetto

We are from Coatesville, PA and have been traveling to the Outer Banks for 15 years. Our friend first built a house in Corolla 1995. We stayed there and would take day trips to the Carova Beach area. That is when we decided that we wanted to be there permanently. We were lucky enough to be able to build our first house in 2003 and then to be able to build our 2nd home on the canal in 2011.

Brenda DiBenedetto purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Brenda DiBenedetto chose Outer Banks

If you want more to do at the beach then just go to the beach a canal front home is for you. You can fish/crab/kayak from your back yard. This home has a large ground floor decking to enjoy the canal

Guestbook comments from the owner

Weather a couple of windy days, but we got lucky with a warm up in the weather. Being technically fall now, we were worried we wouldn't have any bathing suit weather, but we did & our skin is paying for it :). We brought a little jon boat and 2 kayaks, 1 of which was brand new and of course that was the one a horse decided to walk on, but the one scuff it left will always remind us of the amazing week we had :) We did a little bit of everything and enjoyed every second of it! I cannot say enough good things about the house! We were beyond impressed with this place. The house has such character and with all the creative touches we felt at home! If I had to make any recommendations for future guests it would be to keep in mind that the horses will walk (& poop) anywhere so be mindful with leaving items outside (especially at the dock at right) 1 horse even stepped on the crab pot when it was in the water and 1 stepped on the kayak paddle and broke the end, do yeah just keep that in mind. We are about 1 hour now from making our departure, unfortunately but we will be back, We are even thinking about buying a house here we LOVE it so much but til then we will most definitely stay here again :)

Amazing place!!

  • 5 of 5

This house is amazing! We had kids ranging from 6 to 16 and they all had an amazing time. The owners were super easy to work with and answered all of my questions promptly. There were 14 of us total and we never felt like we were cramped or crowded. Everyone loved trying to catch crabs (in the pots and on the string) in the canal and fish. We never did catch enough to eat but we had a great time trying. The pool was always warm and the hot tub was an amazing end to the day. There were horses passing by on the road and in the yard daily. We also had several deer come through grazing as well. The location was great. It was on the canal but close enough to the beach that the older kids could walk back to the house or to the beach if they wanted to. We bought ice at the fire station daily.....I would advise to get there early as they run out every day. It was higher priced than at the stores on the main road but the money goes toward a great organization so we didn't mind paying for the convenience. Overall, this is a great home. I would highly recommend it! We all loved our time here and can't wait to return....hopefully for 2 weeks next time! Thanks for sharing your home with us!

A great beach house!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here! Right off the bat we had to deal with the pesky wasps, with two kids getting stung! But a call into the owners and they sent out someone to take care of it for us!

The stereo system was one of my favorite features. We had it on pretty much whenever we were there during the day. We did crab in the canal and caught enough to cook! The pool was great and so was the hot tub. They were used daily! Horses visited every night. And its not too far of a walk to the beach for an evening stroll or to see the sunrise.

the only issue we really had was it was SO hot on the first and second floor. There are fans there but it was still very uncomfortable to sleep. The top floor however was always glorious feeling!!

We made memories that will last a lifetime! Would stay here again!

Pros and cons

  • 4 of 5

Although this house is beautiful, and a great place to stay, there were a few pros and cons. Cons -the 1st & 2nd floor get VERY hot, -the room with the bunks on the 1st floor felt a little overcrowded, -there are a ton of steps, -always wear shoes on the deck by the canal, -there was a wasp problem on the third floor front deck, -also there was metal in th top bunk on first floor. -there was also this life size pirate that hangs from the ceiling on the third floor above the steps, which was a little creepy to see the first day.

There were also pros to staying at this house. Pros -there's a pool (which is always warm!) -hot tub, -it's like a 5 minute walk to the beach, -the kayak, -crabbing in the canal (We caught more crabs using a throw line than the cages) -free wifi, -and there were almost always horses in the yard. Over all it was a great stay and a beautiful place to stay.

Owner's Response: thanks for your review. We did repair the float switch on the a/c unit that was causing the a/c to turn off. This was repaired within 24 hours of notification.

Great Time

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time here; horses were visiting us every day, which was just amazing to watch and we all enjoyed photographing them. Beach access was perfect and we all enjoyed the pool. The kids loved it (all five of them) and want to come back. If you are bringing a baby, confirm with the owner that the crib is on the premises. We didn't do this; assumed it was there, and the first night without a baby bed was tough. However, we did pick up the crib the next day at their other property. Other than that, it was a glorious time! The house is awesome....has everything you need. Would definitely come back here!!

Loved this home and location

  • 5 of 5

This home is well equipped with everything you may need for your getaway. It is clean and the decor is adorable. The owners are easy to get in contact with and quick to fix any problems that may arise. The pool and hot tub were kept very clean and the kids had a blast fishing on the canal. It is very quiet and peaceful. Just a short walk or drive to the beach. We had a blast.

Map

This cottage is set in the 4wd or AWD area of the Outer Banks, known as Carova Beach - their are no commercial areas for 15 miles. It is a sparsely populated area with Wild Horses, sand roads & beach driving. Even though this cottage is a very short walk to the beach, you can load up your truck/suv and drive all of the heavy coolers, chairs, umbrellas and drive over the dunes and tailgate on the beach.
