We LOVE Banana Pancakes!

  • 5 of 5

My three kids and I just got back from staying a week at this beach house for the second year in a row. We had a great stay both times! It was a nice surprise to see improvements made throughout the house when we arrived this year. A nice new couch in the game room along with a pinball machine & jukebox which along with the arcade game that was there last year entertained my kids when we weren't out on the beach. New cement driveways and area under the house are a nice addition as well. The beds in all of the bedrooms are super comfortable. We loved how the eating area and living room are one big room...nice open feel. The kitchen is small but is more than adequate for a vacation at the beach. Great location that is an easy walk or bike ride to the beach. My only complaint is the fact that a fee has to be paid to access the pools. Overall this a great beach house to stay in for a week at the beach! We hope to come back soon :)

Island of Palms

  • 2 of 5

I was excited for a long weekend with my kids and have stayed at several homes within Wild Dunes. This place was super disappointing from horrible water pressure in showers, cock roaches roaming around the floors, ants on the food, it mentions a pinball machine, but it wasn't there, the couch in the game room was stained, and the "TV"'s with their wires all over the walls were basically computer monitors attached to the walls & not all of them worked properly.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your recent visit to the Isle of Palms and 4 Twin Oaks Cottage. Guest feedback is critical to our staff and the property owner so that we can better make decisions regarding improvements to a property. I feel very strongly that any negative experience our guests encounter is unacceptable; not only to me, but also to our entire Beachside Team. Guest feedback is always appreciated and taken very seriously. Thank you for your time to share your thoughts with us. Our staff takes great pride in working with our guests to make sure they have a memorable experience. It is disappointing that you were not pleased with the accommodations during your visit in September. 4 Twin Oaks has a number of wonderful amenities and has a smart layout after the property owner turned the screen porch area to a sunroom. Where the pinball machine was out after being damaged by the previous guest, we hope your kids enjoyed the real video game. The kitchen is outstanding with its granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. Finally, the pricing is very attractive for a property with so many amenities. Each winter, the property owner works on a handful of projects. With the help of your comments, we have prioritized several of these projects to include the upgrading of the televisions, replacement of the sunroom sofa as well as an update to the carpeting. We are very excited about these and other upcoming improvements! Thank you again for your patience and we apologize for any frustration or inconveniences during your vacation at 4 Twin Oaks. We hope to show you the improvements to the property in 2016 that will make this excellent home with wonderful amenities, even better!

Well-worn but comfortable house for a week at the beach

  • 4 of 5

Property is in a good location, not too far from the beach. Exterior is showing a bit of wear, but nothing that a bit of paint and a few nails couldn't fix. Interior also shows a bit of wear (it is a rental after all!), but the house was very clean and well equipped. Beds are very comfortable, kitchen has every gadget you could need, and the washer and dryer worked well. (Exterior dryer vent needs maintenance, as it appeared clogged...)

Arcade games were a nice touch, though the pinball machine was not working during our stay. PacMan and Galaga kept us busy when we needed a distraction. Plenty of TVs, though none of them were particularly good quality. A/C worked well at night, but was challenged to keep up with the day time temperatures.

Not sure I'd come back to Wild Dunes -- although this property features a Sportspass, you have to pay for any facility you want to use. (25 dollars for the pool, per day...) We didn't use any of the Wild Dunes facilities during our stay.

Overall, it was a good house, but would be more appealing with a little bit of maintenance and repair.

Banana Pancakes

  • 5 of 5

This property is perfect for families with teens. We had plenty of room, comfortable beds and seating, arcade games to keep us busy at night, and enough TV's that no one had to fight over them. Highly recommended! Kitchen is well equipped as well, and the property management company was fantastic, friendly, and helpful.

Would not recommend this property. Couches in sunroom were filthy. TV did not work in sunroom. Air Conditioning problems the entire week. Refrigerator had water in it and got in our food. The kitchen is tiny and only one person could be in it at a time. Tacky wallpaper and big stains on master bedroom ceiling from air conditioning problems. Pool was included in week but, we had to pay for it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your visit to the Isle of Palms and for choosing Banana Pancakes at 4 Twin Oaks. This is truly a unique property that offers two living areas, arcade games, and a close proximity to the beach at a wonderful rental rate. The property owners of Banana Pancakes have purchased a Wild Dunes Sportscard to provide amenity access to their guests. The Sportscard is a very expensive investment for the property owner that provides rental guests staying at Banana Pancakes access to the private Wild Dunes Club amenities. There are fees associated with the amenities, such as golf green fees, but without the Sportcard a vacation guest does not have access at all to the Wild Dunes Club private amenities. Our staff takes great pride in working with our guest to make sure they have a memorable experience. It is disappointing that you discovered the challenge with the HVAC system. This summer has been extraordinary in regards to the temperatures, with June being one of the hottest on record. Heat indexes were over 110 for 10 days straight! Where the HVAC unit that serves 4 Twin Oaks is new, with temperatures at record levels, the HVAC unit is running constantly to keep up, causing condensation to form on the duct work and the condensation drip pan to fill. This was the cause of the stain you found on the ceilings and the challenges, that have been corrected, that occurred during the week. I apologize that you had these difficulties as the HVAC system worked overtime to keep up with the extreme heat. Thank you so much for sharing with us your observations and thoughts so that we can address your concerns to make Banana Pancakes even better for future visitors to the Island!
