There are real estate services, Spanish learning center, small supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and a church.
The town is located near one of Costa Rica's most famous national parks, Manuel Antonio and is minutes from the prestigious reef at whale’s tail in Uvita with swimming, boating, snorkeling and scuba diving. There is certainly no shortage of things to do in and around Dominical beach.

Currently residing in Bradford, Ontario, Marlene and Roy have been married for over 30 years and have 3 son's. Marlene grew up in West Sussex England, and Roy in Richmond Hill Ontario.
Roy currently works for a large Canadian Bank as a Senior Program Manager, while Marlene operates a Laser Acupuncture Clinic (Imagine Laserworks) for smoking Cessation and other health ailments.
Both Roy and Marlene plan on moving to Cost Rica when they decide to retire.
Roy or Marlene Epkenhaus purchased this villa in 2013
We chose to purchase a home in Costa Rica as we have holidayed in Dominical Beach on several occasions at all times of the year. We found the climate to be excellent and the weather to have been outstanding all the time. The warm waters of the Pacific Ocean continue to draw us back year after year as do the spectacular sunsets. Everyone we meet whether shopping or in the restaurants or simply strolling around were found to be very friendly. Most everyone speaks English which helps as we are not so good at Spanish!
Having a Beach Side home has always been a dream of ours. The close proximity to the Beach, Restaurants, and local stores was a real selling feature. We love our house and it is the right size for a larger family to vacation in. The design of the villa is a Costa Rica style that shows to perfection. As an environmental addition, Solar Panels on the roof provide hydro electricity back onto the electricity grid, while roof top solar hot water is provided.
Our group of 5 stayed at this property in May 2016 and were all very happy with it. It is literally just a minute or 2 to the beach on foot. There is parking available, an on-site security guard (shared by 5 similar properties adjacent to each other), an alarm system, a safe, air conditioning, a pool that was cleaned several times during our trip, hot water in the showers, a kitchen with most if not all of the supplies to keep us functional....I could go on and on.
There is a mango grove behind the house that is sometimes frequented by horses, which was very nice!
The property manager, Marlon, was very helpful and was available on short notice for any concerns we had (We had a slow draining shower one day mid-trip and Marlon and his repair man had it fixed very quickly!). He had great suggestions regarding places to rent surfboards, get a good meal, etc.
I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
We spent 4 weeks during January and February 2016 at this property in Dominical. This was our first (but not last) visit to Costa Rica.
There were mostly 2 people there, though the first week there were four. The pictures and write-up accurately reflect the property. It is a very spacious property with a nice yard. It was wonderful to have the pool which we used at least once a day if not more. The outdoor shower was handy to shower off before and after using the pool. The air conditioning and ceiling fans were nice as was the washer and dryer (including laundry soap). Having Wi-Fi was also nice as we had family back home that we needed to stay in touch with. The villa was very well stocked with towels and other necessities.
The location was very good as it was a very short walk to the beach. We were able to rent beach chairs and an umbrella each day. The beach was great for walking and the sunsets were spectacular.
It was a slightly longer walk to town where you could find many restaurants. While we didn't eat out everyday, we did try various restaurants, all of which we enjoyed. There was a couple of small grocery stores in town, with a larger one across the highway, which was also a short walk. The larger grocery store could be found in Uvita which was a little ways to the south by bus or car. There was also a weekly farmer's market in Uvita on Saturday mornings. We also bought fruit most days from a couple of different fruit vendors at the beach. We found most people to be very friendly.
We only rented a car for one week and spent a couple of nights in Monteverde, otherwise that week we took some day trips to Manuel Antonio Park and further south going as far as Sierppe. The rest of the time we walked, bused or taxied to various locations nearby.
Marlon who is the property manager was very helpful with information about Dominical and other areas as well as with booking tours for us and arranging transportation from and to the airport as well as for some of our tours. He and his workers took care of the pool and checked to make sure everything was good with us quite regularly. The property is well maintained. Roy and Marlene who own the villa were very easy to deal with.
We can't wait to return someday!
We enjoyed our stay at this home. There were two couples and the house was more than spacious enough. The kitchen is very "north american", large fridge, dishwasher, numerous appliances, etc.
Bedrooms and bathrooms were large. Love the high ceilings in the upstairs bedrooms and the AC was nice to have as well.
Pool is not large, but it was just perfect for cooling off. I was in it at least once every day of our stay.
The location is close to town and the beach, though I would say the walk to the beach while only a couple hundred yards, when we were there was still the rainy season and the road directly to the beach was covered with water and mud....
Marlon the property manager is very nice and helpful as well.
Numerous restaurants within a short walking distance as well.
During the time we rented this property it was infested with cockroaches. The owners should have known of the cockroach issue prior to our stay? We were also concerned that the upstairs bathroom was basically inoperable and the kitchen lacked cookware. We had to purchase EVERY condiment. I think the cleaning staff spent more time looking for leftover condiments than actually cleaning the house. It concerns me that the cleaning staff didn't see the 6 cockroaches in the kitchen drawer. There was a massive cockroach sitting on my son's toothbrush? it looked as though it was eating from the bristles. FYI.. we did our best to clean the stain on the coach but it is awfully hard to remove cockroach guts. There are plenty more stories but I think I have made my point. We did not appreciate the delayed response by ownership and the limited effort to assist our immediate departure.
The villa is a great place to stay, close to beach and town. Short walk to stores and restaurants. Very central for day trips to Uvita, Quepos, and Nauyaca Falls. We didn't keep a car there and used cabs for most of our trips.
Air conditioning was a blessing, and the pool was fabulous (small, but enough for us), wifi was great. The kitchen was nice (knives are VERY dull, and no sharpener that I could find). Overall, very clean.
Furniture is not very comfortable (house and patio), which isn't a huge problem since most of the time we were out and about , but sometimes you just want to kick back and relax.
Marlon, the property manager was great and very helpful.
We would definitely stay here again.
Perfect Location right on the edge of Dominical and within walking distance of restaurants and shopping and within sight of the beach. Marlon the property manager is wonderful and arranged tours for us, responded to questions and recommended restaurants and activities. The only reason it's not 5 stars is that there was a water leak while we were there which needed to be fixed. The pool is great and the property is spacious and well maintained. Dominical is a central location to many wonderful activities!
