Home is conveniently located on a beautiful tree-lined neighborhood within a 2 minute walk to the subway station in the heart of Astoria. This neighborhood is developing quickly but still maintains the nostalgic feeling of a neighborhood from old NYC.
Located in the middle of Astoria this property is within walking distance of beautiful european cafes, bars, beer gardens, sports bars, irish pubs & lounges.
Walking distance from Restaurants (w/ greek, italian, mexican, brazilian, thai, asian fusion, korean, australian, latin american, egyptian, spanish, tapas, sushi bar, tex mex, venezuelan, american, cajun, peruvian, cuban, chinese, french, colombian, japanese, indian, middle-eastern, turkish, pakistani, halal, afghani, organic barbeque, organic burgers, creole, cypriot, czech, slovakian, bosnian, bangladeshi, mediterranean) cuisines.
Walking distance from Banks, diners, health food stores, supermarkets, fruit & vegetable markets, old Italian bakeries, old school italian delicatessens, pizzerias, greek-styled cafes, greek bakeries, euro markets, greek tavernas, (3) 24 hour pharmacies - Duane Reade, CVS & Rite Aid.
George is very nice and helpful, the house is in a great location near rhe subway. Coming back late at night you felt secure because its located in a very peaceful area. We loved New York!!!
I brought four teenage theatre students into the city for Broadway workshops and decided to stay in Astoria. George's apartment was a great choice all around. The location is excellent: a quick 5 minute / 3 block walk to the subway and great restaurants within walking distance. There is also a police precinct on the corner, and it was nice to pass a swarm of officers every day on the way to the subway- an added safety for me, travelling with others' children (the officers were also very friendly, always saying hello when we'd pass).
I'm extremely familiar with NYC in general as I'm generally in town 2-3 times per year, so all we really needed was a place to sleep. The apartment was extremely clean and the photos shown are exact representations of what you get. George was easy to communicate with, check in and out was super simple, and he thoughtfully texted me in the middle of our stay to make sure everything was going well.
What earns this location an 'above and beyond' rating in my book: as we headed to the airport at the end of our stay (at 5am, no less), one of the girls realised she had left her phone charging in the apartment. George was quick to respond and got the phone shipped and back to her the next day.
The only thing to note about the apartment: there is no central a/c, only a window unit in each bedroom. It wasn't much of an issue because we ran them during the day with the bedroom doors open, but if you're planning on someone sleeping on the couch (which I did), and the bedroom doors get closed at night, it got a bit warm (and that's coming from someone who is *always* cold). Not a huge deal, but something of note.
Overall great experience; I would highly recommend staying here to anyone and would definitely return!
We are very satisfied with our recent trip. From the time we booked our stay to the day we left, George, the owner was available for anything and everything we needed. He was an exceptional host and would strongly recommend staying at his place. The unit itself is very comfy and clean. We had a very busy few days so we really just went home to sleep and it was great. During the day we went to Manhattan using the subway about 2 blocks away. At night, we used our rental car to get around Queens. Parking is the only downfall. Because the unit is down the street from the police station, parking is very limited at all times within the perimeter. But this is really just a small obstacle. There are plenty of different eateries and grocery stores available in walking distance also. All in all, great place, great time.
George is a wonderful host. His listing was delightfully accurate and when we arrived there were no surprises! The apartment is very well maintained and clean. He met us there and got us settled in, made sure we got on the WIFI without issue and gave a quick tour of the amenities. He graciously accommodated a couple of special request regarding linens. He checked in via text to make sure we had all we needed. We felt he was available if needed, but not hovering.
The weather (April) was a little sketchy, but we were never too hot or too cold. We were close to the subway and close to several bus routes. Made our travels to/from the City and family in Queens a breeze. The apartment is located in a quiet, clean neighbor hood with businesses, places of worship, restaurants, police station, mail drop, coffee shops, bagel shops and bars with in easy walking distance.
Would absolutely recommend to family and friends. Our family who live in Queens thought it was a good location as well. We anticipate staying there again on our next visit.
The location is in a safe neighborhood and close to Manhattan via the subway. Grocery stores, affordable restaurants and other amenities are within a few minutes walking distance which we very much appreciated. Overall the pictures are accurate and the rental was clean. The beds were quite squeaky and the rug in the living room area was a bit dirty. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay.
The apartment is in a great neighborhood--minutes from the train, stores, and restaurants. The space was perfect for our family of five. Everyone slept comfortably and felt safe and secure coming and going. The owner was so kind and a mere text message away to answer any questions we had. We will happily book this over and over again!
