About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5)

If you long for the river of yesteryear, you will love Clearheart Grove, a beautifully pristine cabin with all of its original clear heart redwood interior preserved. Set in a grove of redwoods, it's surrounded by decks and porches, and still bathed in sunlight much of the day. Best of all, the neighborhood beach is about a 3 minute walk!

LIVING ROOM: The furnishings are a lovely mix of comfortable contemporary and beautiful antiques, both of which work well with the rich redwood walls and expansive windows. A special feature of Clearheart Grove is the Russian River postcard collection, some of which date from the early 1900s. There are many such examples of interesting memorabilia throughout the house.

DINING ROOM: The dining room has 2 banks of windows looking out at the yard and redwoods, and has a rich, warm ambiance that's perfect for a romantic evening or a nice family dinner. The dining table comfortably seats 6.

KITCHEN: The kitchen is a period masterpiece in addition to being a great place to cook! With lots of counterspace and a classic Wedgewood stove, it's a fabulous place to whip up something to go with the wine of the day.

NOOK: This nook is a great example of the beautiful woodwork, gorgeous antiques, and thoughtful design of the house. Located just off and between the kitchen and dining room, the daybed is set in a perfect little space with windows out to the deck.

BEDROOMS: Each of the bedrooms has lots of windows and a comfy queen bed. The view from the smaller bedroom is lush and green all year round.

OUTDOORS/HOT TUB: There's a huge deck outside the dining and kitchen areas, perfect for dining al fresco. The deck is surrounded by redwoods, yet the house is in a clearing so there is sun most of the day. The deck is furnished with a comfy patio set and gas BBQ. The hot tub is nestled under the redwoods with a bit of privacy fencing for extra comfort. The antique bathtub and water pump have been converted into a modern day fountain, to provide the relaxing sound of water when you are enjoying the outdoors.

The Epitome of Charming

  • 5 of 5

I should have written this review ages ago. I stayed at this property for several months a few years ago when I was working on a book project. I have to say that it surpassed my dreams. It was the perfect place for me. The cottage is darling, private and quite, set back from the road just at the edge of town. I felt completely safe there. The rooms are small, quaint and cozy. The minute I walked in, I felt like I was stepping back to a simpler place and time. For someone who wants a terrific place to hibernate, this is it! My favorite part of all was the hot tub that is in the yard surrounded by redwood trees. It's totally private, so clothing is optional ;-) The one thing I will say is that it doesn't get a lot of sunlight because it is on a forested piece of property. Personally, I loved the secluded feeling. The town of Guernville is adorable. There are a couple of good restaurants and a nice grocery store nearby. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Loved it!!!

Cute, Clean and Convenient

Great summer rental. Very old building will show you how they lived "in the old days." I'd guess it's at least 100 years old but still very functional. Every space in the structure is used efficiently. Comfortable beds, quiet neighbors, close to town, easy driving access, plenty of parking, nice out door deck and indoor or outdoor eating areas. My advice to renters is to bring paper plates because there is no dishwasher. Also plan on driving to Johnson's beach (a 3 min. drive) because the local river access in walking distance is basically a few inches of dirt in front of a very steep path to the river. Good for fishing, but not good for much else. At Johnson's beach you need creek shoes, and $7 for an umbrella rental. Trust me on this. Otherwise it's a great beach with a snack shack, boat rentals, bathroom, parking, and great waterfront access that even has a "kiddy pool" type area in the river.
