Located in the Kanab Creek Ranchos of Kanab, this little house is just waiting to accommodate you. The property is fully fenced and pet friendly. Internet access, movies, cd's, dvd's, books and games. The sun room is bright and inviting. The house is vibrant with color and a fun place to vacation.
Kanab is located at the crossroads to Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce national parks. Pipe Springs and Grand Staircase Escalate National Monuments, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park and Lake Powell are no more than an hour and a half away.
The bright blue skies, clear starry nights and beautiful red rock cliffs make Kanab an ideal location for vacation. The low humidity and temperate climate makes it comfortable year round. There are many opportunities for hiking, biking and riding ATVs. Established in 1870 by Mormon Pioneers, Kanab grew from a small ranching community in the early 1900's to 'Utah's Little Hollywood' in the 1950's. Kanab is currently the recreation center of south central Utah and the Arizona strip. Best Friends, the largest no-kill animal sanctuary, is just 5 miles north of Kanab.
The Crescent Moon Theater has live entertainment and movies. Kanab has a full service fitness center, a city swimming pool and a great library.
We discovered Kanab on our many trips through Utah and fell in love with the great beauty and serenity of the area.

We are frequent visitors to the Kanab area and enjoy the freedom and relaxation that a VRBO provides. The Retro Retreat has some very nice touches, mainly the sun porch which is a wonderful place to kick up your feet and chill out. The front porch's rocking chair is the perfect place to listen to the silence and stare up at the incredible night skies. The house itself has lots of lively color and creative touches. The owner even leaves postcard stamps, a gesture I've not seen anywhere else! The kitchen is furnished well and the appliances are adequate. The "swamp cooler" does a great job of cooling down the entire house. The furniture and mattresses are not particularly comfortable, however, and there is a disconcerting slant to the master bedroom/bath. Banged up baseboards and wall cracks throughout; not a big deal. If you plan to bring dogs or have sleepover dogs from Best Friends, be mindful that you will need to keep them on leashes in the yard; while technically there is a fence, it has seen better days and won't keep many dogs in.
First of all, location was great, we were able to drive to Zion, Bryce, Antelope and Grand Canyons from Kanab. The house itself could use some TLC. The bathroom doors don't close, they need to be propped with rocks to hold them in place. The drain in one of the bathtubs was broken, and when I sent a message to the owner about it she completely ignored that part and only addressed other parts of my message in her reply. That was a little disappointing as there were 3 of us all lined up to shower in one bathroom every evening after a long day at the canyons. Also, there were no welcome letter or instructions about the house, so we had to message the host about things like the wifi password.
It was still a good stay overall, but I wish the host made a better effort communicating.
Nice, quirky little home with all the amenities you need for a stay in Kanab. Convenient to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and Zion plus not far from the north rim of the Grand Canyon, the Vermilion Cliffs, Scenic Byway 12 & Bryce Canyon, all of which we recommend. Property was clean and had all the things needed for making meals. Mary, the owner, left good instructions on how things worked which is always helpful when in a new place. We would stay again or recommend to friends or family.
This is such a great, pet-friendly place! My dogs absolutely loved the huge yard. The house is very spacious, with lots of light. Perfect for two couples or groups, as the bedrooms are at opposite sides of the house. There are lots of basics in the kitchen, from cooking supplies to spices and other goodies. Wifi worked great, as did the Netflix/Amazon prime channels. The neighborhood is nice and quiet. You'll get an awesome view of the red rock mountains while taking a stroll down the street or looking out from the back yard. Oh, and the sun room rocks! We really enjoyed our stay.
The house is clean, has everything you need. The yard is big, the location is the ideal location for anyone, more someone that likes to hike. I m planning to go back in September 2016. Thanks Mary for renting the house to me.
Nice location for access to Zion, Bryce, and Powell. Nicely decorated and no problems with the house. Great neighborhood for walking and at a reasonable rate. I hope to stay here again.
