About John Frank

Our family has been Killington vacation home owners for more than 21 years. We continue to enjoy the four season activities that Vermont has to offer and try to get to the area whenever our busy schedule permits.

John Frank purchased this house in 2012

Why John Frank chose Killington Area

After owning our previously Killington vacation home for 20 years, we had the opportunity to purchase this large modern home in a more private and relaxed section of town.

What makes this house unique

The Post & Beam design gives this home a wonderful rustic feel that seems to fit right in with the Vermont landscape. The homes towering cathedral ceilings, large windows and elevated private setting give visitors wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. Situated on a private road, with landscaped grounds and a private pond, this property gives guests the sense of staying on their own private compound.

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here last year, and I realized that I never sent in my review! This place was absolutely lovely! The home is beautiful, there was a TON of space and plenty of heaters, the owner was extremely accommodating and allowed us to bring our border collie. Outside was just as good--it was quiet and far enough off the main roads that it felt secluded, but close enough to the mountain where it only took us maybe 10 minutes to get there and on the slopes. There was a beautiful view, and plenty of space for our dog to run (which, when you have a border collie, is always a concern!). Can't say enough good things about this place! If we have a chance to get out next year, we will definitely try to book again!

Almost Perfect

  • 4 of 5

We book an annual family vacation this year in beautiful Killington VT. 8 Adults, 2 kids under 7, 1 toddler, and 2 babies.

Easy to find at the end of a long uphill dirt driveway. Lots of trees, and we even saw a deer and a turkey! Arriving at the house, we noticed the lawn needed mowing badly. We wouldn't have minded if it was just adults, but we were traveling with young children who loved to play outside, so we were concerned about ticks. Called owner, and he had someone over in 15 minutes who mowed for us so we could enjoyed the huge lawn.

Space inside was large and open. Big kitchen island to put our groceries. Enough kitchen equipment to cook for all of us almost every night. We also used the grill on the deck. The sectional couch was nice, great for lounging after a day of activities. But the house overall could have been cleaner, and the downstairs was stuffy and musty. A dehumidifier could fix that, and a deep cleaning too.

5+ Stars! Incredible home, and experience!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time using Home Away to reserve a vacation home, and if this experience is any indication of how all rentals booked through this site turn out—we are hooked! We reserved this home for the first week of July, to house a large group of our family and friends as we drove up from Virginia. We had a small wedding ceremony/elopement on Lake Bomoseen on the Fourth of July, and wanted to provide accommodations for the very few close family and friends that were joining us from out of state.

From the very beginning of our reservation oricess - through the return of our security deposit, the homeowner was a pleasure to work with. He was very patient with us as we ran into some small delays submitting the lease paperwork along with planning a wedding from out of state (complete chaos!). He was also incredibly thorough—mailing us a booklet weeks before our visit detailing everything we needed to know about the house during our stay.

We ended up with a good size group, with several couples as well as five kids (give or take). The house was incredibly spacious, with a whole additional living area downstairs (the bottom floor, of three floors total)! The kids loved having the downstairs living room separate from the adults (with their own full kitchen even), and the spacious and open living area/kitchen on the main floor hosted several family/group dinners.

The two bedrooms on the top floor with the full bath were very comfortable and welcoming, as well as the four additional bedrooms throughout the rest of the house. We took full advantage of the two decks and grill, as well as the fire pit that was provided.

Thank you so much for making the accommodations during our wedding so seamless and stress free, we are so grateful to have had such a wonderful experience in your home.

Great house and owner

  • 4 of 5

I almost hate to give our new found secret away. This home was great. The house is laid out beautifully. We over packed so much. This house had just about everything you will need for your stay. The owner John was great to deal with. He allowed us to bring our small dogs with us and the loved a quick walk around the pond and of the open field for sale just up the road. It was just my wife and I with our 2 college age daughters. We did zip line and off road segways at Okemo. Then we did 2 days of mt. biking at Killington and also ATV's at Killington. Had a great and much needed family vacation. We will be back soon. Thank you John for everything

My family and I stayed at this beautiful home for the Memorial Day weekend and it was my husbands 50th birthday. We were a group of 12.

The owner is so accommodating and everything was so organized from beginning to end. The house is amazing!!! My family and I want to say endless thanks to the owner and his family for sharing their home with others. I would give this house a 10+. We are looking forward to our next stay.

Thank You!!!!

Wonderful family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home for it's proximity to Vermont Law School to celebrate our daughter's graduation from VLS with friends and family. We needed a large property to host a mini family reunion and graduation party. This beautiful property met our needs perfectly. The house was large but cozy. We had multiple family members visit from the south, so used the wood stove inside and the fire pit outside as the evenings were cool in May. The second kitchen and living room were ideal for a large gathering and provided the multiple generations plenty of space to spread out. The owner, John, was extremely helpful and easy to work with. I would highly recommend this property!
