Stewart's point, located right outside of center of Kanab, has awesome views-mesa views at the front of the house, and backyard view of the Red rock cliffs. Kanab is 80 miles from the north Rim of the Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon national parks. It is 40 miles from Zion National Park.
The property has a 160 sq foot deck off the master bedroom with stairs into the backyard patio (see below). This has views of the Powell abutment of the grand canyon and the entire valley of Kanab.
Along with great views, SP now has great wifi! South Central Communications is building a fiber optic network, and in February 2016 i was lucky enough to be among the first houses to get it. I have the largest bandwith, 1Gig, and it is speedy! Because the wifi is now legit, the house has a google chromecast in the living room for streaming content (netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime, etc.) and music streaming via a Jambox.
In 2017, the upgrades are - central heat and air system was replaced, brand new kitchen applicances (side by side fridge and ceramic top electric stove). Two new Kohler toilets also installed.
New appliances not currently reflected in the photos.
This is a large bi-level house. The property is 1.9 acres, with over an acre between the neighbors on both sides. Very quiet. Because of its location, you can likely see deer at dawn and dusk, and local bunnies abound.
Now that the basics are covered, here is some more information on the house:
1) On the top floor - a spacious Master in excess of 600 square feet, with a King Bed , DirectTV and a separate Conversation area with a pull out leather futon.
Attached to the master is a completely new master bath with a spacious shower, dual sinks and a brand new Jacuzzi jet sunken tub which overlooks southern Utah. There is also plenty of room to set up the portable crib / air mattress(es) in the master suite.
The top level also includes a large dining room/living room, with a 55" plasma TV, Chromecast, DirectTV with DVR. This room has large picture windows with canyon and mesa views. A kitchen with breakfast counter and bar stools adjoin the dining room. There is a second full bath on the top level.
The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, cookware, etc., and has a reasonable supply of basics (sugar flour, oil, spices, etc.) After 5 years as a vacation rental, i am fairly confident i have everything you might want - from place mats to a coffee maker and coffee supplies, to a high chair for the smallest eaters.
From the top level you can walk two steps down to the fenced backyard and patio with BBQ.
2) Downstairs: There are two bedrooms and a third full bath.
Downstairs bedroom number 1 : This room has cedar paneling and contains a queen bed and sleeper sofa and also has a TV/DirectV/DVD player. (see 'downstairs bedroom number 1' photos)
There is a second bedroom , with another queen bed, which includes a laundry area . The laundry room is enclosed by floor to ceiling curtains to provide a roomier and cozier feel to the space., and there is a privacy screen between the two bedrooms to provide privacy between the rooms. (see 'downstairs bedroom number 2' photos)
Please note: The two bed rooms do adjoin - you enter and leave the downstairs bedroom #1 through bedroom number 2. .
I have recently acquired two new adult beach cruiser type bikes and two helmets you are welcome to use.
To me, good night's rest is a high priority while on vacation. All mattresses are high quality and NEW - pillow top Serta Mattresses. All of the towels and linens are high quality.

About stacy lawson
I came to Kanab over 15 years ago on a western state road trip to visit the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and see Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. It was in August and nearly every hotel was booked,. Despite the crowds, my friends and I fell in love with the town's charm and the incredible natural beauty of the town and the surrounding parks. We cut our time short in Las Vegas to stay longer and really get to know the area.
stacy lawson purchased this House in 2005
Why stacy lawson chose Kanab
I have a house in Kanab because, over the years, i have continued to come back again and again to enjoy the scenery and solitude and i fell in love with the views from this house. I also saw the (fun?challenge?) in remodelling and updating its (original)1985 decor.
What makes this House unique
The property abuts a large rock cliff and has views of the mesas and the powell abutement of the grand canyon. The house is less than 2 miles from the center of Kanab, so you are close to the highways to the national parks, and close to the restaurants and amenities in town. It is 7 miles from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.

House was awesome.
This location is fantastic for seeing all the awesome sights in the area. We hit Zion, Bryce Canyon, North rim of the Grand Canyon and the red coral sand dunes.
Fantastic view! And bunnies too.....
If you want a place with a view, this is for you! And in the morning and evening, cottontails romp in the field out front. Quite wonderful. The house is a short way out of town necessitating the use of a car to go out for dinner but the view is worth it. (Speaking of food, Kanab Creek Cafe and Wild Thyme we’re both good).
The house was selected for our holiday because it has three bedrooms and there were three of us sharing. The master bedroom upstairs is quite large with a deluxe bathroom. The other two bedrooms are downstairs. One was very inviting with nice decor and a view out. The third bedroom was a bit makeshift in that it doesn’t have a door for privacy, there is a curtain that hides the laundry area, and the view out is of corrugated metal used as a retaining wall. The decor in this “room” did not have the same attention given to it as the other two. (As we all paid an equal amount, I felt bad for the person who drew the short straw and got this room.) There are two more bathrooms, a spartan one downstairs and a standard one upstairs. It was convenient though that everyone had their own bathroom.
The kitchen was well stocked and the living room was comfortable. Just wish there was better lighting in the living room area. My friends tried to work a puzzle on the coffee table and there wasn’t enough light. The other problem we ran into was with the hot water. After a day of hiking, we were all ready for a shower. The hot water was enough for one and a half showers at a time then we had to wait for it to heat up again. That’s the reason for the four stars and not five.
The owner was super nice and even left the garage door opener for us to be able to put our cars in the garage. Would stay here again.
Home Away From Home
What a great place to stay! On the edge of town away from the hustle and bustle. The house was well-maintained, clean and spacious. Stacy has provided so many amenities that made it so easy for us. We loved that we could have our dogs and that there was a fenced-in area in the back. It was a great base for us to venture out and explore the area.
Well equipped & comfortable
Property was a wonderful base for our group of 8 + dog. Had all the amenities and remarks from everyone were that the beds were very comfortable! Thanks Stacy!
Perfect location, amazing family vacation
My family and I spent a week at this house in tye beginning of December and it was one of our greatest vacations. The location is perfect for visiting Bryce Canyon, Zion, Best Friends Animal Society, Antelope Canyon, Buckskin Gulch, and so much more. Kanab is a great home base, and this house was close to main street but also felt secluded. Every day at dawn and dusk we saw deer and bunnies around the property. We had 6 in our group and found that there was plenty of sleeping space, a large table that we could all ait around together, and more than enough bathroom space. We appreciated being able to all get ready for adventures at the same time in the morning and coming home at the end of the day to cook and eat dinner together. We cooked every single meal all week and packed lunches for day trips. We had hot cocoa on the patio and played board games. The house truly has everything we needed. When we did need to contact the owner with a question or comment, she was very responsive and accommodating. You can tell that she takes pride in the home. The pictures of the grounds are accurate, it really does have a big rock on the backyard with plenty of privacy. My fiance and I liked to watch the sunrise off of the balcony, when the rocks surrounding Kanab were glowing red. We all agreed we would like to visit the area again in the future, one week isn't nearly enough to experience it all.
Our first western adventure
What an awesome time on our first trip out West!! Stewart's Point was the perfect base for our adventures into the beautiful country !! Watching the sunrise from the deck was such a wonderful treat!! Best house we have rented by far!!
The property is 53 air miles from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon - from the property, you can see the Powell abutement of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. This is a great place for photography enthusiasts. Approved for best friends animal sanctuary dog sleepovers. For mountain biking enthusiasts, the kanab creek trail is a very near to the house and is a great ride. The information about local trails for bikers is included in the house
