Fields of Ambrosia sits high above the lagoon on the edge of a cliff. Breathtaking views spread before you like a magical painting. Spanning from Creole Rock in Grand Case to Simpsons Bay and the Caribbean Sea, it is a wonderfully variegated scene showcasing the islands beauty; the sea, the boat and yacht filled lagoon, verdant mountains, and colorful rooftops of homes and villages. This is the perfect spot to simply sit on a chaise and observe the ever changing sky from dawn to dusk.
Positioned well off the road, the villa is a charming and stylish French Caribbean home nestled in a grand tropical courtyard. Cool terra cotta floors through the home create a seamless flow from indoors into the outdoor living spaces. A spacious covered veranda features an al fresco dining room at one end and an outside living room opposite. The elegant interior living opens to the veranda, the breezes and the views. The well-appointed contemporary kitchen is a perfect place to prepare a meal while still enjoying the amazing scenery. A large inviting turquoise pool sits right at the edge of the terrace seamlessly blending with the lagoon and sea.
The villa features three air conditioned, very private bedrooms all with beautiful views; one in the main house and two at each end of the terrace. Each bedroom has a private seating area plus en suite bathroom in classic French style with traditional Provence tiles. The entire home has been recently refurnished in comfortable Tommy Bahama teak and wicker accented with Indonesian style dcor and tropical print fabrics.
The villa is beautifully situated providing easy access to French and Dutch side amenities. One minute away is Porto Cupecoy with an excellent gourmet shop and fine dining at Marios Bistro, Rendezvous and more. Just beyond are Temptation, Escape and Bar Code. You are also very close to fantastic French side beaches and Baie Nettle, home to the new island stars, Le Sand, Dreams and Mezza Luna. There is also lagoon side water sports concession. In a few more minutes you arrive in the charming colonial town of Marigot with shops, excellent restaurants, the Creole market, art galleries and historic buildings. Further afield, you are at the airport in 10 minutes, Grand Case in 20 minutes and Philipsburg in 30 minutes.

We absolutely loved our vacation. The view was amazing, the property was well cared for, and the villa was lovely. There was more than enough space for our entire family. You always get a little nervous booking something online and having it not be as expected, but that was not the case here. In fact if possible, the villa was better in person. The indoor/outdoor living was wonderful. We loved eating on the patio and enjoying the view of St.Martin. The only issue: mosquitos! No matter how much bug spray we put on they would not leave us alone. We brought it up to the staff and they tried their best to resolve the issue. We managed, and even though we went home with quite a few bites, we wouldn't change our trip. The staff at Luxury Retreats was attentive and responsive. One critique: Our welcome was extremely rushed and we could never figure out how to use the pool alarm properly (a little worrisome with a toddler!). John and Claire were amazing and we will miss them.
We had a fabulous time celebrating Thanksgiving and my husbands birthday at fields of Ambrosia. Claire and John the caretakers are sweethearts and very helpful. The view never ceases to stun and amaze me, it is gorgeous! The food and beaches on the island are absolutely amazing. Spent some time in Grand Case had some delicious gourmet meals at Oceans 82. We had scheduled a private catamaran as we had such a great time doing that on our last visit, however, it rained heavily and we had to cancel. It was pretty disappointing. But you can't control Mother Nature. We did do a jet ski tour which was fun, but nothing like the previous year on the private charter of the golden eagle catamaran trip.
I only have one complaint, the mosquitos were terrible in November, when we visited in June the island was more dry and the mosquitos weren't bad at all.
The view from this villa is the best I have ever enjoyed from I house I rented in the Carib. It is elevated above the lagoon in the cliffs so you always get a nice breeze to keep cool. Daytime views are of the water and mountains. However, what is most unusual is the fact that when the sun goes down, you get to see the city lights of French side of the island. The main living area opens out to the large outdoor patio with a pool. The kitchen was recently refurbished with new counter tops and appliances. All the a/c's worked great the entire stay and kept the bedrooms comfortably cool. We were a bit disappointed in the finish of the bathrooms in each of the 3 bedrooms as well as the linens. The bathrooms are in need of updating, maintenance was overdue on the outside and the linens were sub par for the price. All in all this was a villa with a great view, centrally located, and nice main living areas. I would recommend it provided you set your expectations for quality accordingly.
The Villa is perfect. Jean and Claire are absolutely wonderful people. Warm, friendly and very efficient.
My family and I have stayed in many different villas in St. Martin - Fields of Ambrosia is our favorite, The breeze makes your stay cool and almost mosquito free. The beds are very comfortable as well as the whole house - extremely cozy. One of the best part was the caretaker and his lovely wife Clair and John. They were the nicest people in St. Martin. We will definitely come back to Fields or Ambrosia in the near Future.
I had a problem with the neighbor's dog. A cute little dog, Cujo, kept coming over. Had to call the neighbor 6 times to come get it, He did,, very apologetic. Nice guy. I held the dog till he returned to get him. Better barrier needed to prevent such. Knew it was neighbor due to a tag dog had on him.
