Comfortable cabin on peaceful Pine Creek Flowage

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,100 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 6

Come visit our cabin, stay awhile and make some memories.

Year round, you will find it to be a place of peace and rest.

The cabin has three comfortable bedrooms, one bath, kitchen, loft and a great-room. It can sleep 6 and is decorated in a Northwood's style. The main floor bedroom has a queen bed, while the two upstairs bedrooms each have 2 twin beds. Bath and kitchen towels and bed linens are provided. The kitchen is equipped with dinnerware, utensils, cookware, and pantry items. A grill can be found on the screened porch. The great-room has a 6-person dining table, a wood burning stove should you run into cold nights and a TV with CD/DVD/Blue Ray player.

Nestled on the north shore of the Pine Creek Flowage just south of Tomahawk it is a wildlife haven if you take the time to discover it. In the summer, the high quality flowage boasts large wild rice patches with an abundance of water fowl and amphibians. You will have 200 feet of water frontage to discover. Enjoy the private dock or relax in a hammock on the screened porch. Listen to the abundant wildlife found on the water and in the woods surrounding the cabin. Because of the bald eagle that frequents the shoreline, our kids have dubbed the flowage, 'Eagle Strait'. Use our canoe or kayaks to explore the Wisconsin River or Pine Creek. Try your hand at fishing. We have caught Northern Pike, Walleye, Bluegill and Bass. A leisurely paddle across the flowage will yield berries in their seasons. In the evening, enjoy s 'mores at our fire pit and keep an eye out for wildlife activity on the water.

You won't hear the drone of a jet ski on Pine Creek Flowage, just the gentle swish of a canoe paddle. If you enjoy the sound of a jet ski, then with a 10 minute ride into Tomahawk you can rent a jet ski, pontoon boat or fishing boat to enjoy on one of the many lakes. If you’d like to bring your own small fishing boat, there is a public boat launch on the Wisconsin River, a bit down the road, and you can ferry your boat to our dock.

Crystal Beach is a fun outing on a hot day, followed by ice cream at the Windmill (our personal favorite). While in town, be sure to catch the Kwahamot Water Ski show on Tues, Thurs and Saturday nights. Its free and always a fun family event. There are plenty of opportunities for hiking or biking such as Bradley Park or the Hiawatha Trail. If you have an ATV, bring it along and enjoy the many trails in Harrison Hills. Many of the roads in the town of Tomahawk allow ATVs also. Activities such as golf and geocaching are available within a few minutes’ drive as well.

Tomahawk is a fun place to visit all year round. In the fall enjoy the beautiful foliage, hiking, biking and fishing. We are close to some good grouse hunting. In the winter you can take advantage of nearby snowmobile trails and there are ample opportunities for downhill and cross country skiing, snowshoeing and ice fishing.

If it's a cold or rainy day, stay cozy inside and enjoy a movie or play a game with the family. The wood burning stove will keep you comfy. There are games and movies for you to use during your visit. Or maybe you want to start on that book you always meant to read. In town there is shopping, a movie theater, bowling alley and restaurants. Our cabin is 35 minutes from Minocqua and Rhinelander and 40 minutes from Wausau and the many events and sites found there.

We don’t have a TV antenna, cable, satellite dish, or land line phone. Cell phone reception is good enough for voice and data. Please, no pets or smoking in the cabin.

Eagle Strait Cabin is approved by Lincoln County for Tourist Lodging and is Licensed by Lincoln County Health Department.

About Dirk and Nancy Wriedt

We purchased this property in order to build a place where we could make memories with our kids and that could also be a blessing to others. Each of our three kids loves something different about the cabin.

Dirk and Nancy Wriedt purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Dirk and Nancy Wriedt chose Tomahawk

Nancy's family had a cabin in Tomahawk when she was a child and she has very fond memories from that time. When we wanted to build a vacation home our first choice was Tomahawk. Dirk had lots of ideas of how to build a comfortable, sturdy, well used space and this was his chance to apply his ideas.

What makes this cabin unique

We love that the cabin looks and feels nothing like our house. It really is a break from the norm. Its been said that a person can never step in to the same river twice. One of the things we love about this property is that the water is always changing. Each time we visit its a different view because of how the rice and other plants grow and eventually die back. Its always different, yet still the same river.

Immaculate cabin in a perfect getaway spot.

  • 5 of 5

Situated in the woods, with a great view of the flowage that runs off the Wisconsin River, and basically into the cabin's back yard. Cabin looks brand new, or very recently updated with knotty pine walls and ceilings throughout and a very nice heated tile floor. Kitchen had all the utensils needed for homemade meals. Board games and movies were available for a nightcap, and the wood fireplace adds the perfect ambiance to the main room, and dining room. Queen sized bedroom downstairs is great for parents, and there are 5 twin beds upstairs for the kids, or other guests. Plenty of warm blankets on the beds, and near all the seating areas in the home. Would love to return in the future for open water fishing, as we stayed in the winter for an ice fishing tournament. Owners were easy to contact with questions. Highly recommend staying here if you will be in the area, or are looking for a peaceful stay in the woods, near plenty of water.

Cozy & scenic

  • 5 of 5

Dirk & Nancy's cabin was a beautiful place for our group to use as a home base for our cross country ski trip. We appreciated the modern kitchen and bathroom, and all of the furnishings were clean and comfortable. The wood burning stove was ideal for a snowy February weekend in the northwoods as well. Best of all, the location was beautiful - we loved the secluded feeling but appreciated the easy accessibility from Hwy 51 given the unpredictable winter road conditions at this time of year. We would definitely love to come back!

Beautiful Cabin with Lots to Do

  • 5 of 5

Our group was completely delighted with this cabin. We were a group of five women on a women's retreat. We enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen with quality cookware, the games selection, the beautiful pine paneling throughout the cabin, the leather couches with foot rests, the wood stove, comfy beds with nice linens, the outdoor fire pit, and tromping around on the flowage and surrounding land. We loved skiing on the flowage and having that available at anytime. There was a pesky dog that barked at us and ran out on the ice that was little unsettling, but he didn't do any harm. We also skied at Winter Park Minoqua and Underdown. Over all, this cabin is very well designed and new and seems to have everything. The fire pit was a big hit. There was plenty of wood for an indoor fire and an outdoor fire plus kindling. We really had a great time in the Tomahawk area. We may come back in the summer to enjoy this cabin again.

Already looking forward to another stay. Went there for New Year's and it felt like a winter wonderland. The cabin is surrounded by trees with a creek in front. Very peaceful and relaxing.

Woodland Cabin exceeded expectations

  • 5 of 5

My family certainly enjoyed our three night stay in this woodland cabin by the Wisconsin river. This facility is virtually brand new, thoroughly modern in all the facilities. All three bedrooms were of sufficient size, the great room big enough to serve 8 - 10 individuals, the screen porch provided a magnificent view of the river (how about watching 5 swans - two adults and 3 young swim back in forth each day ! ). The pier was nicely outfitted with bench for leisure contemplation, and the fire ring was well thought out with sufficient seating for all.

Cabin was well stocked in the kitchen, to include basic seasonings, oils and dry goods. Lots of food preparation utensils and serving dishes. Linens are fully stocked, clean.

The location just far enough off a well paved highway, with a short drive into Tomahawk if one needs to go shopping, gas up the car or find a restaurant should you get tired of your own cooking.

It is also a pleasure to find the family's Christian values reflected in their special place.

This cabin is appropriately valued for the fee structure required.

We will be going back. Nancy and Dirk have a wonderful relaxing cabin that gave us everything we expected and more. If you are looking to get away from it all and get back to nature, this is the place to go.
