|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
Come visit our cabin, stay awhile and make some memories.
Year round, you will find it to be a place of peace and rest.
The cabin has three comfortable bedrooms, one bath, kitchen, loft and a great-room. It can sleep 6 and is decorated in a Northwood's style. The main floor bedroom has a queen bed, while the two upstairs bedrooms each have 2 twin beds. Bath and kitchen towels and bed linens are provided. The kitchen is equipped with dinnerware, utensils, cookware, and pantry items. A grill can be found on the screened porch. The great-room has a 6-person dining table, a wood burning stove should you run into cold nights and a TV with CD/DVD/Blue Ray player.
Nestled on the north shore of the Pine Creek Flowage just south of Tomahawk it is a wildlife haven if you take the time to discover it. In the summer, the high quality flowage boasts large wild rice patches with an abundance of water fowl and amphibians. You will have 200 feet of water frontage to discover. Enjoy the private dock or relax in a hammock on the screened porch. Listen to the abundant wildlife found on the water and in the woods surrounding the cabin. Because of the bald eagle that frequents the shoreline, our kids have dubbed the flowage, 'Eagle Strait'. Use our canoe or kayaks to explore the Wisconsin River or Pine Creek. Try your hand at fishing. We have caught Northern Pike, Walleye, Bluegill and Bass. A leisurely paddle across the flowage will yield berries in their seasons. In the evening, enjoy s 'mores at our fire pit and keep an eye out for wildlife activity on the water.
You won't hear the drone of a jet ski on Pine Creek Flowage, just the gentle swish of a canoe paddle. If you enjoy the sound of a jet ski, then with a 10 minute ride into Tomahawk you can rent a jet ski, pontoon boat or fishing boat to enjoy on one of the many lakes. If you’d like to bring your own small fishing boat, there is a public boat launch on the Wisconsin River, a bit down the road, and you can ferry your boat to our dock.
Crystal Beach is a fun outing on a hot day, followed by ice cream at the Windmill (our personal favorite). While in town, be sure to catch the Kwahamot Water Ski show on Tues, Thurs and Saturday nights. Its free and always a fun family event. There are plenty of opportunities for hiking or biking such as Bradley Park or the Hiawatha Trail. If you have an ATV, bring it along and enjoy the many trails in Harrison Hills. Many of the roads in the town of Tomahawk allow ATVs also. Activities such as golf and geocaching are available within a few minutes’ drive as well.
Tomahawk is a fun place to visit all year round. In the fall enjoy the beautiful foliage, hiking, biking and fishing. We are close to some good grouse hunting. In the winter you can take advantage of nearby snowmobile trails and there are ample opportunities for downhill and cross country skiing, snowshoeing and ice fishing.
If it's a cold or rainy day, stay cozy inside and enjoy a movie or play a game with the family. The wood burning stove will keep you comfy. There are games and movies for you to use during your visit. Or maybe you want to start on that book you always meant to read. In town there is shopping, a movie theater, bowling alley and restaurants. Our cabin is 35 minutes from Minocqua and Rhinelander and 40 minutes from Wausau and the many events and sites found there.
We don’t have a TV antenna, cable, satellite dish, or land line phone. Cell phone reception is good enough for voice and data. Please, no pets or smoking in the cabin.
Eagle Strait Cabin is approved by Lincoln County for Tourist Lodging and is Licensed by Lincoln County Health Department.
We purchased this property in order to build a place where we could make memories with our kids and that could also be a blessing to others. Each of our three kids loves something different about the cabin.
Dirk and Nancy Wriedt purchased this cabin in 2009
Nancy's family had a cabin in Tomahawk when she was a child and she has very fond memories from that time. When we wanted to build a vacation home our first choice was Tomahawk. Dirk had lots of ideas of how to build a comfortable, sturdy, well used space and this was his chance to apply his ideas.
We love that the cabin looks and feels nothing like our house. It really is a break from the norm. Its been said that a person can never step in to the same river twice. One of the things we love about this property is that the water is always changing. Each time we visit its a different view because of how the rice and other plants grow and eventually die back. Its always different, yet still the same river.
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin while we were in the area for a ski trip. The cabin was incredibly well stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals and feel at home. Thanks for the great stay!
Great spot and home base for Northwoods activities. Extremely clean and comfortable place to stay.
Stayed here for 3 years and have had the exact same experience everytime. Always clean and nice.
My family of six had an unforgettable weekend here! Every detail was well thought out from the stocked kitchen to the fabulous shelf of games to keep the kiddos busy. The only problem was the fact there was no water! The drawdown made all the water disappear!! The kids were disappointed that they couldn't fish. But thankfully the loft was a big hit and the hammock was too! Maybe we can come back next summer and enjoy some water activities! The ONLY reason We didn't give a perfect score was because of the water.
My husband and I recently stayed in this perfect cabin for 9 days while visiting family in Tomahawk. It is THE place to stay in the area, and I grew up in Tomahawk. The cabin looks exactly like the pictures. Since it is new construction it doesn't have that musty "up-North" smell that older cabins sometimes have. Having dust and mold allergies, I appreciated this. I also appreciated the fact that my special request for unscented laundry products was honored. The kitchen is very well equipped, and well thought out. The beds are comfy. The water was always hot for our showers, and the washer and dryer worked flawlessly. We loved the large screened porch that allowed us to enjoy the August evenings without any mosquitoes. We enjoyed sitting on the dock just before dusk watching all of the bird life. The sandhill cranes are amazing to watch, not to mention listen to. Don't hesitate to stay here if you want a quiet and relaxing vacation spot.
The cabin itself is in beautiful shape. My wife and son who are not "roughing it" types were presently surprised by the cleanliness, space and comfort. The south facing screened in porch that gives you a view of the surrounding maples and the waterfront was a highlight. We made use of access to the canoe to go out to the Wisconsin River.
It was also pretty easy to get to all the local areas that tend to be a bit more crowded. It is a similar distance to Rhinelander and Minocqua and all the fun things around there. Maybe a half hour to 45 minutes. I would definitely consider staying here again.
