Enjoy this newly renovated designer-outfitted jewel box 350-sq.ft. one-bedroom with all the modern conveniences, steps from the vibrant life of the East Village with its clubs, shops, bars, and restaurants, yet situated in a quiet block away from noise and bright lights. Though compact, it's 50% larger than most Manhattan hotel rooms and the two sleeping rooms have separate doors opening into a central kitchen/bath.
You will have easy access to everything in Manhattan (two bus lines stop at the corner and a subway station a few blocks away) and live in a real neighborhood with students, artists, and young families. Compact kitchen, TV/DVD player, computer with Internet access, towels and sheets provided.
Booking process: The availability calendar shows only the dates which have been solidly booked or otherwise unavailable. We receive many requests for overlapping dates and have given up on the 'first-refusal' system, where we keep a list and give each person a chance to look over the offer separately. Instead, we have switched to a 'first come-first served' system whereby the first completed contract and payment received gets the apartment. If you are in a hurry, use the 'Book It Now' button--our calendar is up-to-the-minute in accuracy and online payments are instant and secure.
Contract and payment details: The contract outlines our responsibilities to one another and the payment scheme. In general: You send a $300.00 (reservation/damage deposit) to secure your reservation (may need to be combined with other payments if your dates are close). At 60 days before your arrival, send 50% of the rental plus a $95.00 one-time cleaning charge. 14 days before your arrival, you will send the other 50% (plus taxes). The damage deposit is refundable after you've checked out and left everything in good order; banks take 5-10 business days to process your refund.

The apartment is in an owner-occupied building, so you're not dealing with a faceless management agency with music on hold, you are dealing with a neighbor and true host. Communication was immediate and friendly. East Village is a great location for a base in NYC. We loved the many restaurants and enjoyed the 'local' feel of the neighborhood. The apartment was clean and well appointed, the bed really comfortable.
My husband and two kids, 9 & 12, stayed at this great apartment in late September. The apartment is very, very clean, plenty of towels and linens. Great location with lots of restaurants, bodegas, bars and the subway is a few blocks away. We always walked to the Union Station subway since the weather was so pleasant but there is a bus stop at the corner that can take you there as well. The street is quiet with lots of people out walking their dogs and going about their days. The neighborhood isn't fancy but there are a lot of fun little shops to pick up interesting things, ice cream, Veniero's is down the street and is a must for fabulous pastries. Thom is super easy to work with and very responsive. Gruppo is a great pizza place close by but there is also a very helpful binder at the apartment with all the different types of restaurants near by. We've stayed at many Home Away/Airbnb/VRBO type places and this apartment and working with Thom top the list. We'll definitely stay there again, if I could give it more stars, I would!
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in Thom's apartment. Starting with the check in process, everything was seamless. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and seemed to the perfect size for our needs. We didn't need to use the pull out couch but the bed was very comfortable and the host provided extra pillows as well. The shower was large with good water pressure and there were plenty of towels and washcloths provided. It was also nice to have access to body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in the shower. We also appreciated having the two air conditioner units (one in the bedroom, one in the living room) as it was quite warm there during our 4-day stay. We also loved having a filtered water pitcher available in the mini fridge.
The only negative aspect was that although there was wifi, the signal was very poor and could only be used when standing in very specific spots in the apartment. There was also some construction set up outside during our stay but they did not seem to be working during any of the times we were in the apartment so this was not an issue. Overall a highly recommended stay!
This apartment is in a good location with nice neighbors. The owners keep it well stocked and laid out really nice. Very quiet and comfortable. We will stay again!
This apt was our first VRBO experience and it was all positive! The apartment was clean, had all the amenities we could ask for, and is in a great neighborhood in the East Village. We would be very happy to stay here again on any future travels to NYC. Thank you, Lisa and Jim from Raleigh, NC
Steps away from Tompkins Square Park in the East Village, you are in the midst of one of Manhattan's most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods, replete with cafes, restaurants, boutiques, galleries and bars, yet with easy access to all that New York has to offer. Two bus routes, M14D and M9, leave from our corner and connect you to any subway line every 4-8 minutes, or you can walk to the 1st Avenue station on the L in about 10 minutes.
