Classic 'Old Style Florida' home in historic Longbeach Village

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,400 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 - 28 nights

About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bath cottage close to Gulf and Bay

Great 3 bedroom, 2 bath house with pool on the north end of Longboat Key. Longbeach Village is a neighborhood with 'Old Florida Charm' unlike most of LBK. You will be two houses from the bay (boat launch and pier), and 3 blocks from a fabulous stretch of beach on the Gulf of Mexico. The Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant & Pub is a minute walk. It features indoor and outdoor dining and is a great place to be in the evening. Another waterfront restaurant, replacing Moore's Stone Crab on the other side of Mar Vista, will be opening soon. If you enjoy boating, you can bring your own boat or rent from one of the local marinas. Go north less than a mile and you are on Anna Maria Island and near Coquina Beach. Go south and explore the many miles of Long Boat Key, including the Mote Aquarium, and finally the fine shops and dining at St. Armand's Key.

The house has three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, full kitchen, as well as a 'Florida room'. Outside is a fenced-in yard with in-ground Gunite pool with plenty of chairs to relax in. A gas grill is also provided. Behind the fence is additional parking with room for a boat trailer or additional car. House has plenty of ceiling fans, air conditioning, 2 HD TVs, FiOS service with Phone/Cable/Internet with Free WIFI.

About Owner/Property Manager

We are from the northeast, but have been in love with this area for a long time. Someday, we hope to live here year-round!

Owner/Property Manager purchased this house in 2013

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Longbeach Village

We have always been interested in the 'old style' Florida villages like in the town of Anna Maria. We wanted a house, not a condo, and we wanted to be within walking distance of one of the great Gulf beaches. We spent a long time looking in Anna Maria before we realized that there was a similar area at the north end of LBK. It was everything we wanted!

What makes this house unique

1) Walk to beautiful beach

2) Private Inground Pool

3) Quiet friendly neighborhood

4) Steps away from bay for boat launch, fishing, kayaking, dining, etc.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Steve, we are back at our home and would like to say "thanks" for sharing your home with us. My wife and I for many years have preferred private vacation rentals versus hotels or resorts, and yours now ranks very high on our list. I am already looking forward to future visits. The location is unbelievable, exactly what we like. Quiet, peaceful, not full of commercial development and high rises. So close to the bay and Mar Vista (did not get to Moore' trip). The bay was great for kayaking and so easy to access from your house. We paddled out to Jewfish Key and also went under the drawbridge to the gulf beach. That beach is fabulous; uncrowded, clean and just close enough to walk to and avoid parking hassles.

It is easy to tell that your home is not just a standard "rental". It feels more like your actual home that you go to. The quality and quantity of the towels, linens, kitchenware, dishes, silverware, etc. all show that. Great coffee maker, which I especially appreciated and there was a big pack of filters. The house was very clean and organized when we arrived, and we tried to leave it in that condition when we departed. Hopefully Svenja had a relatively easy job today. (She was very nice to bring me some replacement batteries for the remote control last Sunday) Although I must admit, I didn't put away the last load from the dishwasher. We loved the pool, it was clean, the surface and the pavers around it were very nice. Water temp was just right. Plenty of pool furniture too. Used the grill twice and it works fine. It was nice having some cooking items in the cabinet, like spices, oil, and balsamic vinegar; also laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, and full size washer and dryer. A/C worked perfectly, TV worked, water pressure was good in the shower, no issues! Finally, I really appreciate your pet policy; our dog was very happy all week and she especially enjoyed going on daily walks through the neighborhood with us.

Clean, comfortable and casual

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for us. We are a family of 4, with 2 parents and 2 elementary school age boys. The boys loved the pool (it was a little chilly for us) and we all loved the location. The beach is a short walk away and the Bay access is about one block from the house. You can walk about one minute from the front door and look out over the Bay from the quiet, public dock. The house had plenty of room for each of us to be able to find a spot to ourselves when we wanted it. The neighboring properties have several large trees, which made it feel green and cool when sitting by the pool. The house was clean but not fancy, which we prefer for a beach house. The local restaurant, Mar Vista, was a treat. We really like Long Boat Key because, along with the beautiful beaches, there is a lot of greenery around, with large, interesting trees and other plantings. The birds are also a highlight, as well as the dolphins. Apparently, manatees are around, but I have not been there during the best months to see them. I recommend a weekly bike rental and at least one day on a kayak or paddle board. Although, I would not recommend launching from the nearby dock as the motor boat traffic is very busy and loud. Lido Key kayaking is great. I have also paddled along the Bay close to Durante Park, which is much quieter. This is a great house if you want a quiet, comfortable beach vacation.

Great Stay

For any fishermen, the nearby dock and boat ramp was convenient. The nearby beach was a hidden gem, loved that beach. The owner responded to any questions we had and was very accommodating.

Good location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this hime in April 2017, it's a few blocks from the beach, across a pretty busy road, maybe a 10 minute walk. Quiet neighborhood and very near a good restaurant and canal. Close to shopping and restaurant, we took many trips into Anna Maria and Bradenton-lots to do! Very good location. The house needs a little updating as some of the doors and ceiling fans and not working properly or are heavily chipped. The pool was nice but pretty cold and the cleaning could have been better. Overall, the owner was great, easy to work with and a great location!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the feedback. I would have taken care of any issues immediately if I had known. All ceiling fans are working I believe, but sometimes there are multiple switches that need to be in sync. I will look at upgrading them in the coming weeks if needed.

A real home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying in this house and we hope to stay again. The house is comfortable and well kept with a great layout in an old-style Florida neighborhood. Steve, the owner, was very helpful both times we stayed, offering a security fence for the pool if we needed it, and making suggestions for boat and bicycle rentals. We had family from the area over on both occasions and they were also impressed. We enjoyed both the pool and the beach as well as shopping on St. Armand's and a visit to Mote Marine. Our ten days ended too quickly! Thanks, Steve!

Paradise in the Village

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have stayed at this house in LBK. The house was very clean upon arrival but my main concern was the pool. The pool, were I spent most of my time, was my oasis! If you stay here you are a short walk to the beach and a short walk to Mar Vista with dining outside next to the bay. We love staying here and will stay again! Steve, the owner, made sure all was well during our stay. If you like peace, quiet, sandy beaches, delicious food, sunsets, sunrises, and warm temps this is the place for you.

Clean, Comfortable and Convenient!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have stayed at this house and we absolutely love the private pool, cleanliness, conveniences, amenities and price. It's just down the street from Mar Vista restaurant, great for those who don't want to cook every night, which has a great boat dock for watching the sunrise. It was so nice to stay in a place that is clean and has no bed bugs! Guests tend to "pay it forward" so there's always some treats left in the house for the future guests. What a fabulous vacation, planning the next one now.

Please refer to the aerial photo of the area around the house - it will show a great view of where we are and what's within walking distance. You will be surrounded by idyllic places to enjoy the sun, sand and water. You will feel like you are on a Caribbean island with perfect white sand and azure waters. The bridge at Longboat Pass connects Longboat Key to Anna Maria Island where lots more activities are available. You can walk here or better yet take a boat or kayak from our boat launch. Even by kayak you can get to Jewfish Key and.or Beer Can Point, where people congregate and soak it all in. If your dog is with you, you may want to take part in the daily 'Dog Thirty' where neighbors meet at the arts center at 5:30pm to socialize - with dogs and liquid refreshments! And at any point during the day or evening, two great restaurant/pubs are just footsteps away.
