The 'Loon Lake Hideaway' is located at the end of a winding road that runs thru the woods. It’s almost hard to find, which is why we call it 'The Hideaway'.
If you are looking for a tranquil lakefront location to rest, relax, and rejuvenate with your family, this is it!
This spacious, yet cozy, log sided home was built in 2003 and is comfortably appointed. The waterside of the home features a covered veranda that runs the length of the home and provides the perfect spot for reading books, playing cards, outdoor dining, or just enjoying nature. The lawn is level to the lake (no bluff or stairs to climb) with plenty of room for horseshoes or outdoor games. There is a beach area and fire pit at waters edge.
Inside, the large kitchen has lots of storage and counter top space for meal preparation. The kitchen is open to the family room and overlooks Loon Lake. The upper floor includes two large bedrooms and a full bathroom. One of the upstairs bedrooms features a king bed plus a double bed. On the main floor is a master suite with private full bath. All three bedrooms are very spacious and include walk-in closets. For total comfort we have a whole house attic fan to cool the home on those hot summer nights.
Loon Lake is an all sports lake and is great for fishing, water skiing, or tubing. The sand bar at North end of lake is a great swimming spot for small children. For additional fun on the water, we have two kayaks for guests to use, plus a 24 ft pontoon boat available to rent by the week. We highly recommend guests consider renting the pontoon boat to fully enjoy a wonderful time on the lake. The water is only 3 to 4 feet deep at the end of dock and is perfect for fishing. Best swimming is beyond the dock.

I built this home in 2003 while residing and working in the area. Since then I have been transferred to a new location although my family and I make time to spend as much time as we can at our lake house on Loon Lake. 2012 will be our second season renting home. Summer of 2011 we were completely booked. We hope you enjoy as much as we do.
David Street purchased this house in 2003
Listening to the Loons on the Lake.
Our stay at the Loon Lake Hideway was fantastic and was perfect for our group of 7 (4 adults, 3 children). Too many positives to list but here are a few:
- Owner was great to work with and very helpful with questions
- House had all the accommodations you can ask for including a pontoon boat
- Location was perfect. Quiet location with small beach for the kids
- The lake was crystal clear and not crowded so you can feel safe tubing / skiing with younger children.
- Fishing was good but mostly limited to Large Mouth (largest was 4.8lbs), Small Mouth, Rock Bass and Pan fish. We did see a Northern Pike but never caught one.
I highly recommend this location for those looking for a quiet get a way either relaxing on the beach, fishing or doing some sort of water sports. I can't comment on the local attractions since the only time we left was to get food and gas however our intentions were never to sight see.
For the second year in a row we rented this great vacation property. As usual, the owner met us upon arrival to welcome us and make sure we had no questions. It is so nice to find the type of home you feel comfortable in..it is clean and neat and the linens are top quality. We thank you again David for allowing our family the use of your beautiful home and boat. It was a memorable 2 weeks.
The vacation home on Loon Lake was more than expected. From the listing photos it appeared to be what we were looking for and we were so happy to see that it was actually more. The property was in excellent condition with amenities provided. All we had to do was bring food and personal items. Our host met us upon arrival and took the time to explain and answer any questions we had. He offered his cell phone in case there was anything we needed during the week. The pontoon boat we rented was a bonus to an already wonderful vacation experience. Beautiful lake, quiet and serene. Family greatly enjoyed the fire pit every night. Great lounge chairs and hammock on the huge deck. We all give it 5 stars and voted it the best rental we have ever had. Thank you David.
I cant say enough about our entire experience. The owner went above and beyond to make us happy. the house was amazing, clean, adn had every comfort of home. The boat was well worth it. We had an amazing vacation and we would go back again and again.
My family rented this house the first two weeks in August of 2011. The owner was wonderful and very accomodating. The property is spacious, clean and a great home away from home for all ages. My two 5-year olds could play on the beach while we watched from the kitchen table or porch. Loon Lake is a beautiful lake that is deep in places, but also has several sandbars perfect for anchoring a boat and swimming/snorkeling with kids. There was minimal boat traffic and the lake was quiet overall. We also enjoyed fishing and kayaking during our stay. I would highly recommend renting this property!
Thank you for the most wonderful vacation rental we've ever had. The place has literally all the comforts of home. I love the porch and the view of the lake is absolutely beautiful. My grown kids really loved the kayaks and I think next year we will have to include the pontoon. Cooking in the fully stocked kitchen was a treat for me while the grill on the deck and the fire pit were perfect to end a day on the beach. We really enjoyed the week and can't wait to come back next year.
This wonderful home is located near 1000 acres of state forest, short drive to Au Sable River, and close to Lake Huron.
