The Isle of Palms, like all barrier islands, has a dynamic beach near the inlet that separates the island from Dewees Island. The ebb and flow of the changing tides, through the inlet, creates and moves sand bars just off shore. These sandbars will channel waves between them, resulting in the massive buildup of sand along portions of the island where other areas may develop temporary erosional hot spots. These hot spots will feature a sand beach throughout the day outside an hour or so before and after high tide. Where a dry sand beach may be limited in these few areas at high tide, walking either direction will lead to an area where the sandbars have created an expansive beach to enjoy at any tide.

Wonderful condo. We loved our view and it was furnished with everything we needed. Our check in was smooth and the man who waited on us was very informative with directions and answered all of our questions. A great welcome :) We loved our vacation. From beginning to end, it was wonderful. Thank you so much and we can't wait to return.
The living area is very spacious and beautifully decorated. The bedroom is lovely. We loved the balcony. We ate breakfast there most mornings. We were afraid the view would be limited, but it's actually very good. The bathroom was very clean. Good laundry. The pool is just around the corner. It was very clean with nice furniture. The community is very friendly, quiet, and safe.
Very nice unit. All tiled floors, full size kitchen with plenty of utensils, king bed. Balcony 50 feet from the dunes and beach. Seemed recently updated.
Location is very close (5 minute walk) to tennis courts and Harbor golf course. About a 30 minute drive on major roads to historic Charleston. Not bad at all.
Recent storms have battered walkways to the beach, so you have to walk a little to get to an access point. This should be remedied sometime.
Only minor suggestion: It would be nice to have a couple of decent beach chairs with the unit.
Great one room condo. Comfy bed and living room. Wonderful view of the ocean. Kitchen had all of the essentials. Bring your own coffee filters. The access to the beach was damaged but still very close by.
I recommend this property.
This condo is spacious, was clean and had a spectacular view of the ocean. Fortunately, we spent all our time sight seeing and on the beach. The condo itself seemed tired. The furniture was worn, the bed was very lumpy and the unit's kitchen and bathroom were very dated. Also a bit of an unpleasant smell in the kitchen so I needed to buy candles. I believe there are comparable units available for the price in Isle of Palms and we'll probably try those.
A couple more things: not for anyone who has physical limitations. The steps to the beach are formidable! Getting in and out of the tub to shower was also a little challenging. But we didn't look for those kinds of amenities so no complaints, just awareness. Also the beach is really unavailable in the mornings due to high tide eating up the beach. This didn't bother us at all because there is so much to see in and around Charleston.
All this being said, the property management company was great to deal with.
The property was nice, clean and the view was better than expected.
This was our second year back to this same unit! It is everything you need for a perfect vacation at the beach. We love the spacious living area, the porch access from the beach, the location near Wild Dunes Resort, and the easy drive into Charleston for sightseeing. The deck gives a beautiful view of the beach/ocean that we enjoyed every minute. I hope to bring my family back to this same unit again next year!!
