The Isle of Palms, like all barrier islands, has a dynamic beach near the inlet that separates the island from Dewees Island. The ebb and flow of the changing tides, through the inlet, creates and moves sand bars just off shore. These sandbars will channel waves between them, resulting in the massive buildup of sand along portions of the island where other areas may develop temporary erosional hot spots. These hot spots will feature a sand beach throughout the day outside an hour or so before and after high tide. Where a dry sand beach may be limited in these few areas at high tide, walking either direction will lead to an area where the sandbars have created an expansive beach to enjoy at any tide.

We had a greae time at Grand Pavillion 74 in Wild Dunes. The house is exactly as described and photographed. It is spacious, and the layout is good for several families. We were there with our two sons and their families(10 people in all), and it worked perfectly for us. The upstairs space is large and was an excellent accommodation for our three teenaged grandchildren. They loved that they had the nice bathroom all to themselves!
The kitchen is well equipped and the living room is large enough to provide a good gathering place. The porches are wonderful!
The house is located in a good spot within Wild Dunes. The walk to the beach is straightforward and very short.
The temperature was a bit chilly when we were there in April, but we were still able to enjoy the outdoors and even to be at the beach. The two golf courses on the property are also a big plus.
In hot summer months, with proximity to both the beach and the pools, this would be a great family vacation house.
Nice place. Comfortable. Kitchen pans may need to updated soon as they burn easily. We were stuck in the property most of the time due to the rain (25.6 inches in three days) but we managed. Road flooding was a concern but the high tides were amazing.
My family has stayed in this beautiful and well designed house many times. We all just love this place! It is a great home away from home and allows all of us generous space. We hope to stay here again and again. The back porch is especially perfect. It is the best for our family meals and morning coffee. This home provided everything we needed for multigenerations to enjoy the ocean and each other.
