About Shana Weiss

I am a married mother of three who lives in the DC area. Spending time in Fire Island has always been a special pleasure for our family,

Shana Weiss purchased this house in 1994

Why Shana Weiss chose Seaview

This house was originally built for my husband's aunt in 1947 and has been in the family ever since. We undertook a full renovation in 2008-2009 including the building of an addition with a master bedroom and bath and a laundry room inside the house. The lot is fully landscaped with beautiful crepe myrtles, hydrangeas and blueberries that bloom all summer. An added bonus is a large rosemary bush that provides fresh herbs for your meals. Landscaper visits regularly to ensure the yard is tidy.

What makes this house unique

Spacious one level living easily accessible inside and out for strollers and wheelchairs . All rooms are spacious and uncluttered with ample floor-level sleeping accommodations for eight. Central location, easy walk to beaches, ferry market and town.

Perfect vacation home for our family....we were 7 adults all together and there was ample space for all. This very clean house is quite accommodating from the fully equipped kitchen, spacious living/dining area, comfy bedrooms, and beautiful decor! Loved having coffee on the front porch in the morning watching the deer walk by! Fully equipped with bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, towels and wagons. Great location...Shana was a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend!!

An oasis within an oasis

  • 5 of 5

Recently spent a week here with family and friends. Shana's home is set up comfortably and is very well equipped with everything you'll need for an unforgettable Fire Island vacation. Plus the place is beautifully decorated with fish inspired art which is a passion we share. Oh, and did I mention that every room has AC and overhead fans? We were extremely lucky in that we had a perfect stretch of weather, but still, everyone slept well. Seaview is a very nicely maintained family oriented association that prides itself on staying that way. If one feels the need to visit boisterous Ocean Bay Park (Schooner (yeah) or Flynn's (not so) its right there and when your flops blow out the Ocean Beach commercial center is a short bike ride away. Highlight's included a water taxi ride to Cherry Grove with dinner overlooking the Ocean at the Sandcastle on the Beach. Followed this up with a show at Cherry's on the Bay featuring Hedda Lettuce. Not for the timid, but hysterical.

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful family vacation in Fire Island! The house was beautiful, and had all the amenities to make our family of eight feel rite at home. Great location, very quiet and close to the beach or in to town for dinner or ice cream. Shana & Coleman are wonderful hosts and took extra care to make sure we had everything we needed. The bedrooms were very comfortable. Loved the bicycles and the outdoor shower! We will always have wonderful memories of our vacation. I would highly recommend this home!

Great Place for Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We have been "day trippers" for quite some time and decided to rent for a week...what a treat! The house was perfect; very clean and centrally located. The pictures of the home were spot on. From star gazing to bike riding we made great memories for our kids. The owners were a pleasure to work with. Would definitely recommend this house.

The house is located in Seaview, a family-oriented community on Fire Island. There are life guards on duty along the beach front in Seaview, 1-1/2 blocks from the house. There is also a bay beach with a life guard, a playground that was recently upgraded with new equipment, a bay-front pool, swimming lessons for children of all ages, including toddlers, a basketball court, and a baseball/softball field, with pickup games scheduled every Saturday. There are no additional fees for any of these activities, as they are included in the rental. There are also tennis courts across from the bay beach, which tenants will have access to, but for which an additional fee is required. The Seaview ferry terminal and Seaview Market are less than one block from the house, a two-minute walk. The town of Ocean Beach, with many fine stores, restaurants, bars, and a movie theater, is a ten-minute walk from the house. The Fire Island Synagogue is around the corner from the house. Catholic and Protestant Churches are also close by. From the house a pleasant walk can be taken along the beach to the Fire Island Lighthouse and Sunken Forest, run by the National Park Service. Fishing can be done from a dock in the marina at Ocean Beach. Crabbing can be done along the seawall fronting the bay. Surf casting can be done at the beach. There is also good surf at the beach for anyone interested in surfing. Fire Island has an abundance of birds and other wildlife that is sure to fascinate any naturalist. Weekends are pretty lively in Ocean Beach. Free public concerts are held on most Saturday nights. Arts and crafts fairs are also held in Ocean Beach on some Saturdays. There are no cars on the island, making it an ideal locale for children. We have 4 bicycles at the house, which can be used to take in many of the sights.
