I enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend to anyone!!

  • 5 of 5

The house was so clean and had a beautiful decor. The site alone looking out the window made my stay well worth it!!! You could see the mountains from sitting on the couch relaxing drinking a cup of coffee. It was so peaceful and exactly what I needed. I definitely would go back, I loved the country/mountain feel.

Clean, quite, modern cabin.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this cabin was wonderful! The cabin is clean and in great condition. Much of it appears to be new. There is a lot of private space, which is well kept by the owner. We spent days relaxing on the porch, soaking in the hot tub, enjoying nights by the fire, or just enjoying the gorgeous view! This property is pretty far out there - so don't expect much from the local towns - but this is exactly why we liked this place. In a short drive you can access great state parks and hiking trails. The owner has provided a nice book containing tons of information about these parks and trails which is really helpful. Although the listing says you will not have cellphone access, both by wife and I (AT&T and T-Mobile) had 4G access the entire time.

We even got to see a black bear! This was exciting and a little scary. There are well kept trails around the property but after seeing the bear we decided to stay away from those.

Overall we absolutely loved our stay and would book this place again. One thing to note - the owner is VERY particular about how you should use this property. There is a long contract to read and sign before using the property, and a page of rules to read and follow upon arrival. In addition, there are little notes posted about the property with instructions on what to do and not to do. In general this was not obtrusive, and I can understand if the owner has had some bad experiences in the past. The property is in immaculate condition and the owner would like to keep it that was. In a few cases this is brought to the extreme and actual limits the use of the property. For example - the owner will not allow you to fully remove the hot tub cover (it is locked in place) which is awkward and annoying. That being said, this is a minor gripe for what is a highly recommend and relaxing experience!

Owner's Response: Hi Will, Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review about the cabin. You are right when you mentioned we have had some issues with disrespectful Guests and have had to unfortunately either instate more rules or limit some uses. The Hot tub, in order to protect it and the Guests from incurring very expensive cover replacement charges and other damages, we had to only allow one section to be used. We had people cut the straps, rip the straps, drop the cover on its nose breaking it, laying it on the grass then placing the cover back on which then dropped grass shavings into the hottub damaging the jets or just plain not placing the cover back on in sub below zero weather which quickly evaporated the water damaging the heater from constant running to maintain water temp. and damaging the jets from exposure. In order to continue offering the cabin for vacationers and enjoying doing so, we had to enforce some rules in the interest of protecting the property and all parties. The bears are common up here and do avoid people unless provoked, so when walking in the woods, just talk amoungst yourselves to give them the heads up to leave the area.Thank you again and we look forward to accommodating you again in the future!

The place to be to get away from it all.

  • 5 of 5

I spent 25 minutes writing a long, detailed, review of this property just to have the HomeAway website crash and lose it all so I'll just list the pros and one con.

+ Property is meticulously maintained

+ Almost everything is new or like new

+ Amazing mountain views

+ A true, no light pollution, night sky offering incredible stargazing

+ Owner provides a book with joust about everything you need to know

+ Things to bring, a blanket, binoculars, telescope, food to cook there, and TONS of bug spray and citronella candles

+ Comfortable bed

+ Complete privacy and quiet setting (minus natures sounds of course)

+ Great hosts that want to ensure you enjoy your stay but don't bother you during it (I've had owners "stop by" other vacation properties in the past)

+ Cool nights for sleeping and a nearby lake for swimming to cool off

+ Fire pit (pickup wood on your way at Shaws)

+ Relaxing hot tub

- The one con, and I hate to even mention it, is you can only remove the hot tub cover half way which makes it a bit awkward and only one person can enjoy the mountain views at a time. I'm assuming they must have had some problems in the past and that's why they have the limitation.

If you're looking to get away and disconnect from the world without giving up the comforts of home this is the place to do it. Brenda and Joe were great hosts and really strive to ensure you enjoy your time there.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Josh for taking the time to write your review. We deeply appreciate it. Yes, your assumption of the hot tub rules is correct, we've had Guests remove the cover and drop it, completely damaging it, rip straps, cut straps, throw the cover face down on the grass resulting in grass shavings damaging the jets when they set the cover back on, or not putting the cover back on in winter temps. causing the water to evaporate below the jets and the heater to run constantly... you name it. So to save folks from incurring very expensive replacement/repair fees, we decided to protect their interest and the hot tub, by changing some usage rules. Thank you again for respecting and caring for the cabin during your stay and we look forward to your return visit. Brenda & Joe

Amazing Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is a great place for a vacation for people who want to get away from everyone and everything. Super cute, and cozy with a beautiful view of the mountains and some black bears. The bears are always in sight so we can observe them but far away enough not to scare us and they always keep to themselves. No need to worry about them wandering too close to the cabin. It's a wonderful place to relax and spend quality time with the people you love.

Wonderful winter getaway

  • 5 of 5

This Vermont getaway was exactly what we were looking for and more! Surrounded by snow covered trees and acres of land, it was truly something off of a postcard. The cabin itself was beautiful and clean and had all the amenities we needed. The home owners always responded quickly to any questions we had and provided many off site activities as well. We couldn't have asked for anything better for a relaxing winter getaway.
