Unique waterfront cottage provides comfort and privacy amid the beauty of nature. Ideal for boating, kayaking, fishing and relaxing getaways. Half-hour from Washington, NC. Located between Bath and Belhaven. The Swan Quarter ferry to Ocracoke is a 40 minute drive away.
The Boathouse was built in 1985--originally used as a space to refurbish and build sailboats. It is a wonderfully simple and comfortable structure: 600 sq. ft of interior quarters are nestled inside the 2400 sq. ft. barn that is an outside living and working space.
Boaters of all kinds will enjoy the easy put in, safe harbor and direct access to the waters of North Creek,
the Pamlico River and Sound, and the Intracoastal Waterway. Put your boat over on the 12’ boat ramp at Potter’s Marina, less than 300 yards from the cottage, and secure it in our boat slip for the weekend or week.
1.4 acre private wooded lot with 200’ bulkhead and 20’ x 30’ boat slip. Exceptional views of North Creek to the east and the Pamlico River to the South. Dock with fish cleaning table, water and power. Three kayaks for use with paddles and life vests.
Ideal for fishing, boating, birding--very peaceful with spectacular waterviews. Dolphins swim right past the house!
Explore Bath (oldest town in NC), Belhaven's lovely waterfront (don't miss the Belhaven Museum), Washington's lively downtown and riverwalk (NC Estuarium), take the free ferry to Aurora's Fossil Museum or the longer Swan Quarter ferry to Ocracoke.

We are nature lovers. We love exploring North Creek and the Pamlico River, tracking the dolphins, fishing for flounder, crabbing from the dock, or just relaxing in a rocking chair on the screened porch with a good book.
Michael purchased this cottage in 2005
The Bath/Belhaven area is water, water everywhere! We fell in love with this unique part of NC that most people have no idea exists. Off the beaten path, beautiful landscapes and waterviews, downhome, friendly people.
Life slows down when you stay at the Boathouse. Quiet, peaceful simplicity. Great way to let go of the daily grind and stresses. Explore the wonderful world of eastern North Carolina!
This was our second stay at The Boathouse. We really like the comfortable king size bed, the view, the Wi-Fi, the screened in back porch, kayaking, and playing ping pong. Everything is here to make meals and keep even older kids from being bored.
Some things to do away from the property include visit the NC Estuarium. They also offer free riverboat rides if you have reservations. We learned about crabbing on the Pamlico. My son proceeded to catch one blue crab on North Creek right behind the house. We also took the ferry to Ocracoke and drove on the beach. We took a free ferry to Aurora and visited the Aurora Fossil museum. There you can dig outside for fossils. We found hundreds of shark teeth. Be prepared to stay a long time because it's addictive. From Aurora, you can drive to the free Minesottt beach ferry and take it to Cherry Point. From there you can drive to Atlantic Beach. The ferry rides are relaxing and something to do in itself. Goose Creek State Park is also a nice park with a swimming area that we enjoyed. Thank you for sharing your Boathouse with our family again.
Loved the Boat House it is such a nice place in a great area!
What an awesome place! Very unique. The views are unbelievable. When you are in the living room, every window and door that you look out of is water. So peaceful. Everyone on the street was super friendly. We even walked to a crab ranch and got a lesson on harvesting crabs. Very interesting. If you want to get away from the noise and pollution and the everyday mundane routine of going to work and coming home and going to bed then you need to come to this place. Read a book, go for a walk, fish, play cards on the deck, ping-pong, boating, crabbing, laying in the hammock. It's all in one place. My husband and I haven't laughed so hard in a long time as we did playing ping-pong. Unfortunately, the weekend we went wasn't the best for weather. Very overcast and rainy. we did take our boat out one time but didn't catch any fish. But it was worth every minute just being out on the water. We had a very relaxing weekend and enjoyed ourselves tremendously.
Off the beaten path, well worth the trip. The boathouse is a delightful place to stay and enjoy some peace and quiet. Lots of critters inhabit the area, birds, geckos, and an incredible assortment of marine life. Plenty of recreational opportunities. Well stocked kitchen and barn.
I just want to say my family and I had a wonder time. It was much more than I expected. The weather was really rainy the entire time. So we couldn't enjoy the outside, but we made the best with what we had. Out side the apartment in the barn we had an easter egg hunt , played lots of games and pretended we were camping with sleeping bags. We really enjoyed looking at our grandghildren having a ball. I would highly recommend this place. And I can't forget Michael and Mig . They were wonderful and very accomadating.
This place is Magic! Nestled in what feels like a forgotten area of North Carolina with ultimate peace and quiet. If you want peace and quiet, water, boating, fishing and great accommodations, this is the place.
