Overview

About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 3-5)

Unique waterfront cottage provides comfort and privacy amid the beauty of nature. Ideal for boating, kayaking, fishing and relaxing getaways. Half-hour from Washington, NC. Located between Bath and Belhaven. The Swan Quarter ferry to Ocracoke is a 40 minute drive away.

The Boathouse was built in 1985--originally used as a space to refurbish and build sailboats. It is a wonderfully simple and comfortable structure: 600 sq. ft of interior quarters are nestled inside the 2400 sq. ft. barn that is an outside living and working space.

Boaters of all kinds will enjoy the easy put in, safe harbor and direct access to the waters of North Creek,

the Pamlico River and Sound, and the Intracoastal Waterway. Put your boat over on the 12’ boat ramp at Potter’s Marina, less than 300 yards from the cottage, and secure it in our boat slip for the weekend or week.

1.4 acre private wooded lot with 200’ bulkhead and 20’ x 30’ boat slip. Exceptional views of North Creek to the east and the Pamlico River to the South. Dock with fish cleaning table, water and power. Three kayaks for use with paddles and life vests.

Ideal for fishing, boating, birding--very peaceful with spectacular waterviews. Dolphins swim right past the house!

Explore Bath (oldest town in NC), Belhaven's lovely waterfront (don't miss the Belhaven Museum), Washington's lively downtown and riverwalk (NC Estuarium), take the free ferry to Aurora's Fossil Museum or the longer Swan Quarter ferry to Ocracoke.

About Michael

We are nature lovers. We love exploring North Creek and the Pamlico River, tracking the dolphins, fishing for flounder, crabbing from the dock, or just relaxing in a rocking chair on the screened porch with a good book.

Michael purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Michael chose Bath

The Bath/Belhaven area is water, water everywhere! We fell in love with this unique part of NC that most people have no idea exists. Off the beaten path, beautiful landscapes and waterviews, downhome, friendly people.

What makes this cottage unique

Life slows down when you stay at the Boathouse. Quiet, peaceful simplicity. Great way to let go of the daily grind and stresses. Explore the wonderful world of eastern North Carolina!

A great place

  • 5 of 5

We traveled in September. Things were very quiet and peaceful, which is what we wanted. The house has everything you will need - nice towels and sheets, essentials in the kitchen, a hair dryer, washer/dryer, grill, kayaks and PFD's. Lovely and spacious screened in porch to watch the sunrise. House is clean and owners are communicative and helpful. It's a little far to the grocery store, gas, or other supplies or dining (8-10 miles) and even farther if you need fishing tackle, but if you plan it out it is not a big deal. Will definitely return if we vacation in the area again!

Love this place!

  • 5 of 5

Thanks Michael for sharing this cool place! Everything is well designed and well maintained--inside and outside! I always wanted to try camping. So the camper was a cool first step. It is spacious and neat. The boathouse design is very unique. We enjoyed time at the dock. The boys caught 4 red drums, lots of blue crabs, and saw dolphins twice. We enjoyed the afternoon thunderstorms to cool down and kayaking on the peaceful water after the storm. Sunset and sunrise are beautiful. We did morning yoga at the dock at sunrise with fish jumping in and out of water. This is a gorgeous place to enjoy the peaceful nature!

Thank you!

Words Can't Describe....

  • 5 of 5

I can't even describe in words how relaxing this little place is. The cottage inside the boathouse was a genius idea! I absolutely loved the screened in porch as well as the fishing dock! My son stayed on the dock 4 out of the 5 days. We caught 5 stingrays, 2 red drum and a little blue crab. We also seen the dolphins 2 of the nights we were there. We had 5 people there and although it is a small place, everyone had their space. A great addition that I did not see listed in the ad was a single bed inside the cottage. This was very nice to have! We also enjoyed having good cookware to use, as well as nice (not stained) linens. Everything was very clean and organized well. I would love to come back for a longer period of time.

Absolutely beautiful and well worth the trip!!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do this place justice. Perfect location for a quiet relaxing getaway and fishing trip. I couldn't think of a better place to spend my birthday. Sitting on the screened in porch as the sun set was the perfect way to end the day after fishing.

Michael responded to out questions promptly and was very helpful. We will be making a return trip in the near future.

Tranquility at its finest!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful property! There is so much to do at the boathouse - morning with coffee on the dock, screened in porch to bring on the evening sounds (crickets, bullfrogs, etc,) ping pong, and kayaking, the list goes on and on. Spectacular views, exceptional location, priced to compete with anything else around to be considered an amazing get away!

Unique, relaxing peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our days at the boat house. The whole place is quite relaxing. We caught catfish, long nose gar and blue crab right of the dock. The house inside the boat shed was comfortable, clean and cozy. Shopping and eating in Washington in a must. If you are looking for a quite, relaxing, slow paced getaway then the boathouse is for you.
