We have lived in this area for almost 9 years and custom built this home. We plan to come back to this area in retirement. I entertained large parties in this house and raised my son here.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
My husband was recruited to work at the Jackson Laboratory. He loves to kayak and sail and a home on the water was our dream. I enjoy hiking.
I love to walk into Salisbury Cove and post a letter at its tiny post office. I pick blackberries and blueberries on my property and watch deer and eagle from the house. An evening kayak is relaxing when you can watch the sun turn the sky orange and purple. During the July 4th festivities, I just take the bus in and don't worry about finding a parking space. Teens love the freedom of taking the bus all over the island.
We could not have asked for anything more. Weather was great, lobsters were fabulous, etc.
We could not have asked for more in a vacation home. The setting was perfect, the house was clean having everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting on the deck or on the bench overlooking the water. It is hard to describe in words how wonderful things were. We would definitely come back when we are in the area! Thanks Janice for the information on the area, it was most helpful.
We were 3 couples who had a wonderful time in an amazing house. It was very clean, comfortable, well stocked and well appointed. Fabulous views of Frenchman's Bay. Can't say enough about it. Janice was very helpful with ideas and recommendations. We didn't want to leave!
This was a very beautiful, relaxing and comfortable home! Everyone had their own space for down time with the separate wings of the floor plan! So very well appointed too! Everything you would need from games, books, kayaks and such nice views! We saw an eagle while kayaking along with deer and fox! We all found plenty of sea glass and treasures after the tide! Bar Harbor and Acadia National park along with Northeast Harbor and other sights are so close and accessible. We did not choose to go at peak season but for us it was way more enjoyable and relaxing without the overcrowded streets in Bar Harbor! We were able to catch a lobster boat after it came in to the dock to see all of their fresh catch of the day. We also experienced cooking our own lobster at the house thanks to the wonderful owner, Janice who has so thoughtfully provided everything you could possibly need! We are eternally grateful for the opportunity to stay in this house for our great Northern Maine vacation! Many awesome memories made and treasured! You would not be disappointed in renting this home for vacation! :)
This was probably my most enjoyable vacation! All my children and both my grandchildren were there. The house was so close to Bar Harbor, Acadia and many other fun things to do! We had the best time and the house was amazing. My husband and son had so much fun kayaking and the children and I had a great time looking for sea glass and shells!
This is the second time we have stayed in Eastern Bay, and it was just as perfect as the first time around. There was plenty of space for family and friends to visit and enjoy lobster dinners in the dining room overlooking bay. This is a nice quiet retreat with plenty of wildlife (several deer in the yard were a nightly occurrence), while still easily accessible to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The children had a great time exploring the beach behind the house and looking for sea glass. The homeowner has always been responsive and made our experience enjoyable. We look forward to coming again!
Great location, very private and nice view. House was clean and well maintained. Everything was as advertised. Nice screened in porch. Kayaks provided and highly recommend using them, we really enjoyed kayaking in the calm bay waters footsteps from house. Very nice house. Our only negative owner said it takes 10-14 days to get your deposit returned, not sure why? We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this home!!
Acadia National Park is a marvelous place for family fun. There are graded hikes and bike riding on carriage roads, swimming in lakes, horse-drawn carriage rides and ranger programs. Educational activities abound with scientific facilities giving public tours, small museums and historical sites. Gourmet restaurants, live music and theater are available as well as historic golf courses, tennis courts, gardens, day spas, sailing and whale watching. Two hours from the house is a crossing to Canada, the 'English' area, and 5 hours north is Quebec.
