About Victor Marquez
We are a Mexican/Italian couple who travel throughout the world, with homes in San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Sardinia , Venice, Tyrol, and in lovely Guanajuato! We travel often with our new family member: a 1 year old pup named Saba.
Victor Marquez purchased this House in 2005
Why Victor Marquez chose Zona Centro
We love Guanajuato for its European style charm and rich Mexican Culture, and we are half-way home here! The home dates to 1792 and is one of the few standing residential dwellings built in the colonial times: most other colonial building in the city are commercial or official buildings. The original house gave us the opportunity to create something unique. The whole house has been restored to its original splendor using hand made furniture and local art. We selected this house after a search that lasted 10 years because it is the only house in the centro which has multiple open spaces: the patio is divided in two: the pool are and the fireplace area, the second floor has three terraces (one is a gigantic service terrace fir hanging clothes and a continuation of the rooftop garden ) aand a spacious veranda where we entertain our guests with stunning views . All other houses in the centro offer only sun baked rooftops, our patio is 100% private and offers the opportunity of spending 100% of the time outside
What makes this House unique
We love to soak in our courtyard pool in the evenings, cook and enjoy gourmet meals in our fabulous kitchen, relax on our roof-top terrace, explore local art exhibits, and dine occasionally in cozy Guanajuato restaurants so close to Casa del Limon.

Beautiful colonial property
Casa Limon was located in the perfect part of town and lived up to its photographs. Very attractive furnishings, less than five minutes away from one of the main plazas. Lots of good restaurants close by. The pool was small, but the kids loved it! Patio was very relaxing, and a great place to enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day. We had no problem taking an Uber for a day trip to San Miguel de Allende.
There are a lot of stairs, so for someone with mobility problems it might be a challenge. But for everyone else, if you were coming to Guanajuato, I would recommend this property!
Thank you, Stefanie for the wonderful review. We are delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay and you are welcome to return anytime.
You are correct that Casa del Limon which is nestled on one of the hills going up to the Pipila monument is layered living space by living space into the hill which means there are steps from room to room into the patio and up to the verándas and terrace. The location of the house with its beautiful views is part of the charm and the stairs are an architectural necessary design.
Again, thank you for visiting Guanajuato and staying at Casa del Limon.
Classic Adobe Casa in Historic Centro
Beautifully decorated, and comfortably furnished, this magnificently situated colonial era home was perfect for our one month stay in Guanajuato from Feb. 5th to Mar. 5th, 2018.
Great house, great location.
Wonderful experience all around.
Lovely house, many advantages
Lovely house, and we were comfortable there. The manager, James, was very helpful. Our only issue-- as older folks -- was having to navigate the steps between bedrooms and bathrooms during the night. Of course staying in Guanajuato means climbing stairs all the time, but it would have been more suitable for us to have bedrooms/bathrooms on the same level. And there are a couple of steps separating just about every room, if steps are an issue. On the other hand, the climb from the nearby plaza wasn't bad. The neighborhood is well -located and very pleasant...a short walk to the Jardin, the university area, a good little grocery store, a bus/taxi stop, and plenty of restaurants -- also just two blocks from the Escuela Mexicana, where we took some classes. We enjoyed the rooftop, the roomy and well-equipped kitchen, and watching DVDs. Internet is limited pretty much to the living room, but I guess that is due to the thick 200-year-old walls!
A lovely home
We had the pleasure of staying at Casa del Limon over the holidays. The house is perfectly located with relatively easy access with suitcases, and close proximity to restaurants and shops. You will only have a short walk when being dropped off by or hailing a taxi. It's beautifully and comfortably decorated and has a few quirks that are to be expected in a building of this age, but the charm of the residence more than compensates. The roof deck is especially lovely and spacious, and wonderfully warm in the morning when it gets full sun. Prior to going, I had a small concern about being too cold in the house because few (if any) houses in Guanajuato have heating. The owners have several space heaters available, but we never needed them. The extremely thick walls allow the house to maintain a steady temperature throughout the day and night. Wifi was reliable and fast. James, the property manager, is an ex-pat American (fluent in Spanish) and made it easy to settle in. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
