Why John Mugg chose Leelanau County
We knew this was 'The Country's Most Beautiful Place' long before it got that moniker. The air is fresher, lakes crystal clear, and the quiet will bring a lasting peace.
What makes this Cottage unique
Location is great! Something for everyone--beach time, hiking, biking, kayaking, wine touring, or just relaxing on our hammock. The cottage is simple but still has everything you need to be comfortable.

Quaint, wooded, stones throw to Big Glen ( with dock)
Very cute home in the woods. Exactly as pictured. Private. Simple but with the things you need. We enjoyed our stay in this home very much!! We enjoyed outside fire pit. Literally across street from access to Big Glen lake with dock access( awesome!). Clean and nothing more to worry about other than an occasional spider ;) Some things are dated but charming. New couch. Carolyn was easy to communicate with and responded quickly. This is a great home :)
Rustic means '50's original
My sisters and I went to Glen Lake to revisit our childhood vacation spot. We dropped our things to explore. Upon arriving back in the evening we were greeted by a mouse running across the kitchen counter, leaping onto the floor, running around the living area. A text to owner directed us to mousetraps in the closet, where the mouse ran into. No further communication was received from the owner. One brave sister attempted to open closet door which was falling off the track. Mousetraps were broken and blood stained requiring purchasing new traps. We had to store our food in the refrigerator or car, suitcases kept zipped, slept with one eye open. The toilet flushes, shower has hot water, lake is across the road which earns one weak star. I am surprised at the rave reviews and understand the high rent in the area. We felt this cottage was overpriced and needs updating and deep cleaning.
I am sorry you were not happy with your stay. We stayed at the cottage just before and after your visit, and there were no mice or else we would have trapped them. As with any older home in the country they do get in occasionally, especially when food is left out which is why it is always a good idea to store food properly and keep dishes washed.
I did not know there was any further communication needed, so sorry. The cottage is priced very competitively as we try to keep it affordable for families to enjoy. The pictures are accurate and it is clean and kept mouse free when they occasionally try to get in.
What an awesome location! Across the street from glen lake, 10 minutes from Lake Michigan, 25 minutes from traverse city and the Trading Post (Platte River tubing) 15 minutes from an awesome restaurant in Empire which is down the street from the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. The cabin is CLEAN and has everything you need except for bug spray and beach towels. Not too shabby! We will be back!
Great location for family and friends
We had a great stay at Mugg. The location was beautiful and was a nice location for our little group - short walk to the lake, great hiking and many cool outdoor things to do in the area. It was also nice to just kick back enjoy the campfire and grill. Cabin was clean and comfortable.
Had a great time. Only thing was there was no where to put the garbage. Lol but over all nice cottage and will always love glen lake
If you're looking for a real cottage in a beautiful place, then look no further.
