Amazing location

House was very nice although did not know it was a duplex. The distance to the beach is amazingly close and the house is nice and clean. We would have appreciated a few amenities such as additional toilet paper, dish soap, paper towels, and trash bags. We happily left our extras for the next guests. Also did not feel as informed as we could have been about guests during the day, #of cars allowed and a few other things. It would have been nice to have all restrictions included in the agreement prior to vacationing in order to plan better.

Owner's Response: The photograph shows it is a duplex and on your rental agreement that you signed and evidently did not read stated that there is a maximum of 6 people per rental to stay at the property. It also states that only 4 cars are allowed to park on the property during rental. We do not provide amenities as most rentals and all amenities are listed on your rental agreement which are linens and cleaning at the end of your rental. If we had to provided these items the rental price would have to reflect that cost and we have kept our rental price low for the last few years. Thank you for leaving your items as most renters do leave some items evidently it did not spoil your vacation and we appreciate your comments.

Water, water everywhere!

Great beach house! Enjoyed the stay for a week away with friends. Our stay was quiet, peaceful and close to beach access (less than 200 feet!). We loved the fact that the you can see the sound and beach from the upstairs living room. Thanks for the great stay and we will definitely be staying again!

Disappointed, has a lot of potential!

First off, we gave this place a two and not a one because of its great location. Close beach acess, and not too crowded.

Now to the house. The previous reviews and pictures are why we were excited and chose this house over several other options, and we don't want other renters to make the same mistake. These pictures are not up to date and don't accurately reflect the current state of the house. First off, we noticed upon arrival that the grill was rusted almost to the point of being unusable. The outdoor shower was a safety hazard, littered with rusty nails and loose screws (it was also littered with trash from previous renters). Once entering the house the first thing that hits you is an unpleasant smell, the kind you would notice in a dirty house or room that someone tried to cover up with scented spray (we did all our laundry ASAP when we got home to get rid of the lingering smells!). The carpet looks as if it should have been replaced years ago and at least cleaned prior to renters. The overall grime and filth of the home wasn't from just a couple of months of high traffic, but from years of nothing but "surface cleaning" (if even that) and no attention to deep cleaning or tlc. We contacted the owners to let them know the state of things, and were immediately met with excuses. We were told that "it's a beach house, you have to expect some dirt", and "if you had stayed there at the beginning of the season it would have been emaculate". Not the most receptive responses! My family has been taking beach trips around this same week for years, we have never encounterd this amount of dirt and filth built up from just a couple of busy summer weeks! All this being said we would not stay here again. You can find better in this price range! We left this place in much better condition than we found it by far.

Owner's Response: Obviously as owners we are very disappointed to read such a negative review. We have rented our property for 10 years, have many returning clients and keep the house clean and continuously updated as our regular renters will confirm. On occasion you will get a renter that will never be pleased no matter what you do to try and satisfy them as in this case and as owners we failed to act on the warning signs. - The renter was so excited about renting our property and had request a significant reduced rate, clearly if the comment on finding the better value were true I am sure someone who was reluctant to pay market rates would have found it and rented elsewhere. They were given a discount below our market price and this evidently did not satisfy them as they wanted us to refund them more funds with a strategy of complaining about everything. - On arrival they contacted us with a complaint that the house was dirty, but declined an inspection by a neighbor stating that the house was as described and had been fully cleaned. - We insisted that the cleaning crew return and the house was cleaned from top to bottom again. A shower curtain was replaced despite the cleaning manager stating there was nothing wrong with the curtain. As a courteous we replaced the shower curtain to please the renter. We vacuumed all throughout the property and left the renter pleased and satisfied. The cleaning crew and our neighbor could not find any of the alleged issues that this disgruntled renter has stated in the review. - An immediate unequivocal offer of a full, immediate refund was offered and the renters were asked to vacate the property immediately, this was declined by the renter, I am not sure anyone who was this concerned would have declined such an offer. - At the beginning of each season the house is deep cleaned including professional carpet cleaning and the property is cleaned between rentals. The carpets are clean, have the odd mark reflecting 5 year old wear and tear of carpets at a beach property. As owners we felt we did everything possible to address the concerns raised by this renter who was unpleasable and whose sole purpose prior, during and post rental was complain and do everything in their power to seek price reductions and compensation. Fortunately this is the first time we have had such an individual in our property.

A wonderful rental!

My family of seven enjoyed our weeklong stay at this house. We were there celebrating our son's return from his deployment, and it was a great location as he had to be on base a few days that week, which was only a 45 minute drive for us and we could still enjoy the beach at the same time. The house served our needs perfectly, making use of all three bedrooms and the sleeper sofa. The kitchen was well stocked for our cooking and eating needs, and everything was clean and comfortable. It was so peaceful and relaxing to sit on the upper deck and be able to watch the waves across at the beach...just as good as being oceanfront, in my opinion! Gillian was a joy to work with and so very helpful throughout the whole rental process. Our only criticism, if you can call it that, was the bath towels provided. They were very thin and hard to get dried using only one. I ended up buying some more at WalMart for us to use instead. Otherwise, everything was perfect and I'd recommend this property to anyone! I'd love to go back again some time.
