About Lorrie Runnels
Rick and Lorrie have been together since 1980 and have two grown children. They have always loved to have guests over and share their lives. Twenty some years ago they said to themselves, “I wish we could make a living doing this.” Then in 2003, they bought this fantastic house on the lake in order to realize their dream. You will find Rick and Lorrie knowledgeable about the area. They are around for information, but as someone stated, “Hospitality abounds while guest’s privacy and solitude are highly respected.” They both love music and you might find them going out to concert or to a music festival. We are innkeepers with an excellent housekeeping staff so you can be sure your accommodations will be spotless. Fluffy towels, bottled water, and chocolate are just a few of the amenities that set us apart.

Why Lorrie Runnels chose Mariaville
This vacation rental was originally the carriage house for the Silas Marsh Estate, now the Mariaville Lake B&B. It is on the property so we can make sure everything is perfect for your stay.

We loved this place - great find.
Lovely, quiet cottage with many amenities! Perfect lake for kayaking. We used kayaks provided. We also used bikes provided. Cottage in central location with easy access to Albany. Lorrie & Rick are awesome & readily available if you have any questions. Thank you! Hope to be up that way in the future. Deb & Ernie
Thanks for leaving such a nice review. We really enjoyed hosting you and are glad you took advantage of all we had to offer. Have a great rest of your summer.
This cottage is the best of both worlds.....a rustic cottage with bed and breakfast touches. The beds and linens are cozy, the cottage is very clean and well stocked. The view from the living room window is exactly like the picture. The gas fireplace was easy to use (after reading the instructions) and kept the entire cottage warm. The breakfast makings were much appreciated after a long drive from North Carolina.
Thanks Lorrie and Rick for making our stay so wonderful.
Beautiful, "extremely clean" and well managed.
We had a wonderful time at the Mariaville Lakeside Cottage and will certainly be back for years to come.
Slice of heaven!
Lorrie was the best host I've had, and her property is great. We were a group of 2 couples in town for Hall of Fame weekend. The drive to/from Cooperstown was worth it to make it back to the Lake Cottage for our dinner and cocktails at the fire pit. Awesome experience!
Thank you! I'm so glad you had a great time!
Beautiful, clean, well accommodated cottage. Our daughter loved kayaking around the lake. Rick and Lorrie are great hosts! Just down the road from Plotter Kill Nature Preserve, where there is a gorgeous hike with 3 waterfalls.
We enjoyed hosting you and appreciate how nice you left the cottage. Hopefully the weather will be better next time you come.

Mariaville Lake B&B
So, now that you have landed on this page, what would you do if you booked a stay with us? Several options come to mind.
The most obvious is to settle into a comfortable Adirondack chair, glass of wine or beer in hand, watch the lake and the geese and, if you're lucky, bald eagles! We had a couple from the Netherlands who spent many happy hours just watching the chipmunks scamper.
Kayaking and canoeing on Mariaville Lake is sweet! It's fun to see everyone's house and folks are friendly. We'll be happy to give you a lesson before you shove off.
When you are rested you can take a drive to Schoharie County and visit Howe Caverns, a pretty cool place open all year round. They now have zip lines and a rope course which looks pretty awesome. The Iroquois Indian Museum is right next door to the Caverns, too. There are all sorts of historical places around here. The Capital Region was settled (by Europeans) way before the Revolutionary War.
If a little night life is more your speed, Schenectady and Albany have good restaurants, theater, and live music. I am particularly fond of MOPCO, the Capital Region's premiere improv troupe. If you need a good laugh, Friday night with MOPCO is the place to be.
Sunday is Schenectady Green Market Day, and going to the Green Market is a guest favorite. Loads of vendors, live music and truly the best pesto anywhere.
