Sunrise over the lake and relaxing on the deck with coffee before heading out for a great day of exploration and fishing on the flowage.
Clean private and many enmities including AC. Fair fishing right off the dock in the evening for Smallmouth and a few Perch and Walleye. The beach is very small and hard to access due to a rocky shore so not recommended for young children. Also, even though there is a claim for a boat dock, you cannot use it over night which the owner clearly explains in the welcome email, after you pay your fees. So if you have anything but a small fishing boat to pull up on the shore, you will have to trailer from a good DNR boat launch about as mile away.
Property was beautiful and very clean/well-maintained. This was our first time to Mercer, WI. House description accurate and helpful to list all included. However, house advertises 2 baths and it should indicate that only one has a shower.
My husband, my son and his girldfriend,my daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren (ages 3 and almost 5, and their beagle stayed for a week. We all had a great time. We have been coming to the Flowage almost every year since the late 1960's, so obviously we love it and this was the perfect place for us to stay at this point.
Since restaurants are not close and we all love to cook, the beautiful and functional kitchen was put to good use. It is a joy to cook in. The view from the great room is fantastic - and it's even better from the deck where we ate many meals and relaxed reading books. The state land on one side of the property was great for gathering firewood - the children were just the right age to find that really adventurous and for enjoying the hot dogs and S'mores.
We brought one canoe on our cartop and when we wanted another, a walk around the circle found a friendly neighbor who let us use another one for a nominal amount. The canoe trip around the "Big Island" is a spectacular half (or full day if you stop to fish) day trip. The children loved the paddle boat and the little beach. The "jon" boat was OK for our 10HP motor, but we would have felt safer in a regular 12 or 14 foot row boat on the Flowage which still does have some stumps (only hit one this trip).
The contract talks about the "steep, unprotected, rock bank" leading to the beach and the water, which worried us a little. However, it presented no problems for either the children or the two 67 year olds, and the younger folks were able to get the boats and canoes down to the water with no trouble. So, no need to worry.
The house was clean, well-maintained, and a joy to stay in for the week. Would highly recommend it.
Second time at the house, and my wife and I love it.Clean and a warm home. Great view of the sunrise, and we caught fish! Will be back next Sept. Can't wait
This lake home is beautiful and in a great location! It has plenty of privacy, is very clean with a comfy/inviting decor, and has everything you need to feel right at home. There was enough of a sandy area to swim and a 17" walleye was caught right off the dock! We had never been to the TFF before and we totally fell in love with the area. So quiet and peaceful, so much to explore. And with the loons, it reminded me of the movie, On Golden Pond. It's truly amazing! So much so, that we're going to make this our recurring family vacation for years to come and you will too! Thank you for sharing your home with us, John! It was simply perfect!
This home was very clean and very very nice. Location is fantastic State woods on one side of property. My wife and I stayed in Sept and the fall colors were great. The discription, photos and John were all on point. Thanks for everything, my wife and I are looking at the calendar for next fall, but this time we will stay a week!!!
