Some comments from recent guests-
'i enjoyed my stay at 'hale sweet hale' very much.
the house is a well appointed two bedroom, nestled
in the jungle. the peace and solitude it offers are wonderful,
yet it's just minutes from the volcano. i especially enjoyed reading out on the back lanai looking out over the lawn to the jungle.
''There is no small detail you did not provide for. Thank you for sharing you idyllic hideaway. I especially enjoyed the orchids in the trees.'
“After a long trip halfway around the world, we could have had no better place to relax.
Everything was more than we could have hoped for. We were greeted with a warm welcome message and fresh supplies of everything we needed to feel right at home.
If you are in need of a true 'get away from it' without being too far away from creature comforts, this is the place to stay.”
'Hale Sweet Hale is truly a haven in the rainforest! Love the smell of the cedar, and the skylights make this place truly airy and bright.'
“It was so convenient for our visit to Kilauea National Park, being only 5 minutes from the entrance. We enjoyed the quiet and peaceful setting, surrounded by lush green ferns and lovely hydrangeas. It seemed so removed from everything, but it was just a short distance from the main highway. The cottage was so sweet and beautiful, and comfortable. We just loved it! We definitely would like to go back and stay for a longer period of time to experience more of this peaceful retreat.”

We fell in love with Hawaii 40 years ago and always wanted our own little piece of paradise. We found Hale Sweet Hale and made it our own. Always traveling in Hawaii, we discovered things and features that characterized "Living in Paradise" and included them in the house so all of our guests would leave with the Spirit of Aloha in their hearts.
Staying at Hale Sweet Hale or Aloha Sweet Hale captures paradise that is unforgettable and distinctively the best in Volcano Village.
“It was easy and a pleasure to stay at hale sweet hale. It was easy to get to the house & use it. The wee home met all of our expectations and more. The only thing disappointing... We decided to only stay for one night and not more. ”
We couldn't have been more comfortable. The house was centrally located to everything we wanted to see and do in the area. It was beautifully furnished and we appreciated the special touch of coffee, creamers and condiments. We would have been happy to pick up the entire property and transport it back to our home in NH
Such a great cabin in a secluded location. We loved how close to the volcano we were.
Hot tub was amazing too! Thanks for everything!
By the way, we think the coffee maker is about to die.
Beautiful setting in volcano village. Grill and hot tub a plus.
We arrived after dark and it was a bit scary as the roads began to go deeper into lush forest and bumpy gravel road into very dark and completely unlit neighborhood. To our surprise, Google navigation brought us straight to the driveway! We were so happy to see the lights were left on for us. The cabin is beautiful and Hawaii-rustic-upscale. All the wood is gorgeous and sturdy - the floors were spotless which made it nice to walk on. Everything as seen in picture - nice local artwork. We grilled fish (bought at a great grocery store on drive through Captain Cook area), sat in cute 2-person hot tub and built a fire in well stocked wood burning fireplace. It was PERFECT! Everything you need in the kitchen and fully stocked - from kitchen to laundry room - linen closest with plenty of towels. Lanai was lovely to sit and listen to birds, eat, or just hang out. The property has great garden features and circular drive to make coming and going easier. The location is perfect to explore the Volcano park, drive to Hilo for helicopter tour (which was great to see everything from the sky that we saw the day before by car/foot), and get to black sand beach. It was nice to be able to do laundry after a day of hiking and touring as we were going to Kona side of island for remainder of trip. The drive through middle of island was incredible with all climates represented. Get a convertible if possible. You won't regret it. From looks of the guest book, people have come from all over the world, stayed at this cabin and loved it like we did. The master bed was comfortable but could use a replacement mattress soon and a little WD-40 on the springs but we are used to sleeping on a very firm tempurpedic mattress. The cabin is super clean and we felt completely at home here. Highly recommend.
The directions that we got were accurate. Access to Hale Sweet Hale was very easy and laid out by the owner. The house has a fire place and a hot tub, what more do you really need?? We stayed over on Christmas eve and the location was very close to Volcano National Park which allowed us to sneak up and see the volcano...added bonus was the full moon and lunar rainbow! We only stayed one night so we didn't take full advantage of the kitchen and all the amenities, but the kitchen was fully stocked and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. We would definitely recommend this location to friends.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is less than a mile away. Spend the day exploring all the unique sites of the park. Visit the Farmers' Market at Cooper Center- lots of local grown produce and handcrafted items. You can view turtles at Black Sands beach and hike out to Green Sands beach at South Point.
