Seabright Cabin is a fully updated 1913 historic cottage in the Seabright neighborhood of Santa Cruz. Completely renovated in 2012 from top to bottom. Walk to beach, harbor, restaurants, coffee shops, and Boardwalk. One bedroom with queen bed, plus a loft with twin mattresses perfect for kids over age 7. Open, light-filled floor plan creates an inviting space that feels much larger. Features include high-speed wireless internet, warm-water outdoor shower, gas BBQ, and stacking washer-dryer. Snugly insulated for comfort and quiet. Ceiling fans and double-hung wood windows circulate summer breezes, and a gas stove keeps things toasty warm on winter days. Driveway with uncovered parking for one car. All linens, beach gear, cooking and serving supplies, board games, DVD library included. Flat-screen TV with cable, blu-ray, and Roku for streaming Netflix, HBO GO, and other content.
Front porch with antique chairs gets morning sun, perfect for enjoying your coffee or catching up on email. Back patio has a dining table with umbrella seating 4. Fruit trees provide shade and fresh fruit for summer guests.
Seabright Beach is a 6 minute walk and the Santa Cruz yacht Harbor is a 5-10 minute walk. The Boardwalk Amusement park is an easy walk (15 min and save the high parking fee), but geographically separated from our neighborhood by the San Lorenzo River so you don't get the crowds and traffic. Warehouse complex across the street has the popular Verve coffee roastery for your morning latte, and a rock climbing gym with yoga and other classes available for visitors. Great restaurants and coffee shops are on adjacent blocks. The home is centrally located so you're usually less than 10 minutes from almost anything you want to do in Santa Cruz.
Delighted guests have included families on a beach vacation, retirees visiting grandchildren, college tours, honeymooners, people visiting their Santa Cruz relatives and friends, solo travelers, academics on sabbatical, business trips extended for fun, etc, etc.
We rent to mature adults over 25 years old. Home may be unsafe for toddlers and small children due to the loft. No pets.

I grew up in Santa Cruz and still visit several times of year, either solo or with my husband and 2 kids, to visit family and all my favorite haunts.

We love this neighborhood and how easy it is to walk to coffee and all our favorite restaurants, then on to the beach or Boardwalk.

We renovated this house from top to bottom in 2012 so everything is brand new. It has beautiful hardwood floors, a lovely custom kitchen, and is light, snug, and comfortable.

We flew down from Washington and we had a rough start to our trip. By the time we finally arrived we were exhausted. I stood at the front door praying the code would work and we could settle in. YAY! we easily got in with our code and we were so happy with this house. everything was perfect. The owners literally thought of everything. My kids enjoyed the loft and we slept great every night. I cant say enough good things about the home. Just when you think it cant get any better.....there's the Verve coffee roaster and coffee shop ACROSS THE STREET! SOLD!

Great place for our family of four to stay. Places to eat are nearby, and other great places to visit and dine are close if you rent a car. I went out on a limb to rent this place, and so happy that I did. Would highly recommend this place. We had a great vacation here.

Great location, cozy and comfortable
Wonderful cabin in Santa Cruz!
The Seabright Cabin is a perfect place to stay and explore Santa Cruz. It is equipped with everything you'd need for your vacation and is in a nice central location. The surfers in our group loved the outdoor shower and we appreciated the fully stocked kitchen. It was also convenient to have a delicious coffee shop right across the street. We will definitely recommend the cabin to friends and hope to stay again someday!

Wonderful well-equipped cottage in convenient location
We loved staying in Katrina's cottage and hope to return again soon! It is a fully up-to-date recent remodel and well-equipped rental. The kitchen is very well-stocked with utensils, pots & pans, plus Katrina supplies a very well-done guide to the neighborhood with accurate descriptions of nearby activities and restaurants. We're frequent visitors to Santa Cruz and her guide even helped us find a couple of "gems" we'd not yet discovered on our own. Location-wise, the cottage is walkable distance to the yacht harbor & beaches, Seabright beach, the Boardwalk neighborhood & wharf, and also less than a mile to all the businesses on Soquel avenue. In addition, it's right across the street from the Verve coffee roasting plant & retail shop (in our opinion, the best coffee in Santa Cruz). If you're not in the mood to cook your own meals, there are also several restaurants just 1-2 blocks away. The cottage does not have A/C, but the living/dining area has opening windows so ventilates pretty quickly. The kitchen & bedroom each have one opening window, so cool off a bit more slowly. There is also an exhaust fan in the roof of the loft that's on a one-hour timer, so you can also vent some hot air out with that. While you're waiting for the house to cool, the back patio is a lovely & private sitting area, and the front porch with small table & chairs is fun if you're in the mood to watch the neighborhood activity at the coffee shop and gym complex across the street. This is a very well-kept rental far above the quality of many VRBOs that are managed by rental management companies. About the only improvement we could suggest would be to add a large portable barrel fan that could be used to accelerate the cooling-off of the house in the evening, especially by improving airflow through the bedroom.

The summer of 2017 had a couple of very unusual heat waves, and one was prior to your arrival and the house had been closed up for several days. I realize now that I should have made sure the house was opened up to cool off after the heat wave so that it would be comfortable for your arrival. Such hot weather is quite rare and in the future I will make sure to take proper measures. Future guests should know it is rare to find A/C in the houses in our area as the weather is generally mild -- average summer high temperatures are in the 70s, mornings and evenings are always cool, and an average year has only 5 days when the temperature exceeds 90F. Open windows and the ceiling fan are usually all that's needed to circulate the ocean breezes, with the attic fan to supplement if weather has been on the warm side. We also have two tabletop fans that can be placed where needed. We will consider the barrel fan suggestion as well, thanks!

Short walk to Seabright/Twin Lakes beach or the Yacht Harbor. Fifteen minute walk to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park. The home is located in a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood.
