Seabright Cabin is a fully updated 1913 historic cottage in the Seabright neighborhood of Santa Cruz. Completely renovated in 2012 from top to bottom. Walk to beach, harbor, restaurants, coffee shops, and Boardwalk. One bedroom with queen bed, plus a loft with twin mattresses perfect for kids over age 7. Open, light-filled floor plan creates an inviting space that feels much larger. Features include high-speed wireless internet, warm-water outdoor shower, gas BBQ, and stacking washer-dryer. Snugly insulated for comfort and quiet. Ceiling fans and double-hung wood windows circulate summer breezes, and a gas stove keeps things toasty warm on winter days. Driveway with uncovered parking for one car. All linens, beach gear, cooking and serving supplies, board games, DVD library included. Flat-screen TV with cable, blu-ray, and Roku for streaming Netflix, HBO GO, and other content.
Front porch with antique chairs gets morning sun, perfect for enjoying your coffee or catching up on email. Back patio has a dining table with umbrella seating 4. Fruit trees provide shade and fresh fruit for summer guests.
Seabright Beach is a 6 minute walk and the Santa Cruz yacht Harbor is a 5-10 minute walk. The Boardwalk Amusement park is an easy walk (15 min and save the high parking fee), but geographically separated from our neighborhood by the San Lorenzo River so you don't get the crowds and traffic. Warehouse complex across the street has the popular Verve coffee roastery for your morning latte, and a rock climbing gym with yoga and other classes available for visitors. Great restaurants and coffee shops are on adjacent blocks. The home is centrally located so you're usually less than 10 minutes from almost anything you want to do in Santa Cruz.
Delighted guests have included families on a beach vacation, retirees visiting grandchildren, college tours, honeymooners, people visiting their Santa Cruz relatives and friends, solo travelers, academics on sabbatical, business trips extended for fun, etc, etc.
We rent to mature adults over 25 years old. Home may be unsafe for toddlers and small children due to the loft. No pets.
I grew up in Santa Cruz and still visit several times of year, either solo or with my husband and 2 kids, to visit family and all my favorite haunts.

We love this neighborhood and how easy it is to walk to coffee and all our favorite restaurants, then on to the beach or Boardwalk.
We renovated this house from top to bottom in 2012 so everything is brand new. It has beautiful hardwood floors, a lovely custom kitchen, and is snug and comfortable.
The Seabright cabin has to be one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. It is comfortable and very well equipped as well as being stylish and attractive. It is in a quiet street but close to some great places to eat (Verve coffee shop across the street, Betty Burgers, Java Junction, Seabright Brewery and Enfer's Pizza around the corner are all good) and a local store. It is walking distance to the beach and the harbour where there are more cafes and bars and, a bit further afield, the Boardwalk. Both downtown Santa Cruz, Capitola and the 41st Ave Mall are only 10 minutes drive. It is a great place for surfers, families with children and people who like to climb (climbing gym is right across the street also). It is also a lovely place to relax and work in if that's your idea of a vacation. Disability tip: my husband is on crutches and the house was great for us because it is all on one level with just a couple of steps at the front and a doorstep at the back. It might be a bit difficult to manoeuvre a wheelchair around inside though. We thoroughly recommend this place and would happily stay there again!
Wonderful little cottage in a great location. Everything was wonderful. Very comfortable and clean with lots of amenities. Highly recommend and hoping to visit again.
This place is such a gem. We instantly felt right at home. While it is located off the beaten track, there is a coffee shop across the street and restaurants right around the corner. You are easy walking distance to the beach and about 20 minutes walk to the Boardwalk amusement park. Grocery stores require a car trip, but they are easy to find. The pictures online represent the property accurately. There is a small fenced in patio out back with a table and chairs, a gas grill, and an outdoor shower. The queen size bed was comfortable and we slept well. My husband also took more than one nap on the sectional sofa in the living room. Having a full-size kitchen was great and we did a combination of going out and cooking at home. The house is well-appointed with pretty much everything you might need for your stay and the overall design is clean and light. We would frequently open all the windows when we got home in the afternoon and got a great breeze flowing through the house. We appreciated not having to worry about parking as there is a small driveway right out front.
The owner of the rental, Katrina, is super friendly and responsive and she has clearly taken great care of this place. She replied to every message I sent easily within an hour, if not sooner.
I can't think of one negative thing to say about this place, and we would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Seabright Cabin was such a perfect little home, and had everything we needed. Immaculate and comfortable, it has the best outdoor shower too! With plenty of space indoors, an open kitchen, and a great and private patio, we couldn't have been happier with this home. Walking distance to the beach and directly across the street from the best coffee in SC (Verve), we were happy with the location.
This was our 3rd trip at this cabin in Seabright and we have yet to be disappointed. I almost would rather rate it horribly to keep all the open dates for myself, that's how perfect it is! Everything you need is included in the home.... dishes, a bbq, a completely renovated interior, movies, board games, a fun loft for the kids, instant hot water, fruit trees in the front yard, a driveway to park in, a coffee shop directly across the street, a convenience store around the corner, the list goes on. Booking is so incredibly easy and the owner is so sweet and replies promptly to any questions you may have. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to Seabright Beach and about 10 minutes to walk to the Boardwalk. The location is in a more industrial part of town but once you're inside, you feel as if you're along a seashore. The neighbors are friendly, the shops are delicious, the walks are great and the outdoor shower is an added bonus if you're covered in sand. You'll love this place. Small in size but big enough for the largest of adventures!
Our stay was everything we were hoping for! We got into town a few hours early and Katrina had no problem letting us in early. We are a family of 4 with 10- and 12-year-olds who loved the loft. The cabin had all the amenities we needed. We found ourselves trying the restaurants around the neighborhood instead of driving anywhere. Though we did get to Monterey for the aquarium, we spent most of the time around Santa Cruz.
We walked to the Beach and Boardwalk several times (loved the Giant Dipper, especially on "Retro Night"), ate at Betty Burgers, Engfer Pizza, Tramonti, pastries at Verve (little pricy, but good). Day's Market got our business at least 5 times!
Loved the back patio, though we didn't end up using the BBQ. The outdoor shower was great. If you're looking to add any creature comforts in the future, a propane fire pit out back would be really cozy :)
