We have an amazing ocean view and we have decorated the house taking care of the finest details. The waves are very close from the house.
We absolutely loved our vacation at this property! Easy view of the surf break from your private location. We found the house clean, well laid out, and easy to walk to all El Zonte attractions as well as catch the bus to La Libertad. We used the kitchen nearly every meal for the ten days we were there and it was well stocked for cooking Christmas dinner etc.. Eve was easy to work with from beginning to end and the care taker Carlos and his family do an amazing job of helping out with your every need. We hope to visit again soon!
This house, and El Salvador in general, exceeded all our expectations. I traveled to El Zonte with a group of girlfriends on a surf trip. We felt completely safe everywhere we went, even driving at night (renting a car is highly recommended, as there isn't much in El Zonte and you'll have to drive to the nearby towns for restaurants, markets, etc.).
The surf break is 100 yards from the house and had perfect surf every morning with the friendliest locals in the lineup. At low tide, the largest tidepool in front of the house becomes a sandy-bottom tub that's ideal for soaking and watching the sunset every night. When we weren't on the beach, we took advantage of the pool in the yard which was almost the same temperature as the sea (about 80-85 degrees!).
Carlos (the caretaker) and his family live on the property, but always gave us privacy. He was invaluable in helping us rent surfboards from Olas Permanentes down the beach, breaking open fresh coconuts for us to drink, and escorting us to the waterfalls at Tamanique (where he found us a local guide to take us on the trails). He was definitely one of the most memorable parts of our trip, and by the end of the week, we felt like he was family.
It should be noted that in the photos, the white building is not for rent. However, we had full access to the common areas under the white building (hammocks, lounge seating, dining area) and to our knowledge, it's an in-law unit for when the owner Evelyn's family is in town. The rental home is the one with the wooden beams and the open-air bar, living room, and dining room. It's very clean and comfortable, and Carlos or his wife did daily housekeeping in the common areas. We had full run of the entire yard, which is very well-kept and full of lush grass and coconut palms. Stairs lead down to the outdoor shower (which we much preferred over the indoor shower!) and the black sand beach. The home was a sanctuary; very quiet and secluded, with only the sound of waves crashing.
Evelyn helped arrange a private chef to come to the house and cook for us all day (which was a real treat -- the chef and his assistant were completely professional and made the most amazing food we had all week in El Salvador) and also a masseuse who set up a table in the yard overlooking the ocean. We were so spoiled! We would definitely come back and stay at Evelyn's beautiful home again.
Our family spent the month of February here and loved it! The property exceeded our expectations. It had all the amenities and comforts a family of four could want and even more. The living space was clean, spacious and very comfortable. We spent a lot of our time in and around the pool and in the hammocks overlooking the ocean.
Perhaps the best feature of this property however is the people associated with it. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Eve and her family who made us feel right at home and were always easy to get a hold of. We then met Carlos and his family who were so friendly and helpful everyday that we all became very good friends. We had several family meals together with his family and we really enjoyed learning about El Zonte and El Salvador from them.
We went on several tours and explored over 3/4 of the country. There are many beautiful towns, historical sites, natural wonders, restaurants, markets, and beaches to discover in this gorgeous, safe country. But no matter where we explored, we were always so happy to return to our "home" in El Zonte.
El Zonte itself is a quiet coastal town that is not very touristy - precisely why we loved it so much! In fact, there were countless times that we were the only ones on the sand beach or playing in the shallow tide pools.
We would, without hesitation, recommend this property to anyone. We are sincerely hoping that we will return soon.
Our family (three adults and two little kids) stayed here for a week in November. The location is great - away from city life, small village feel, but close to a handful on good restaurants. We aren't surfers but still had plenty of options for doing things within an hour drive (get a local GPS if you intend to drive around as the road buildings and closures can be frustrating). The property is wonderful. Lush gardens, inviting pools, perfect views. We left our windows open at night to hear the ocean. The first night we heard thuds on the roof and realized it was falling coconuts :) the living spaces in the house are open, which is perfect for soaking in the scenery. The enclosed rooms bedrooms and bathrooms are basic but Carlos and Marisol keep them tidy. The couple and their family are very friendly and assured we always had what we needed . Eva was great setting up the stay and welcoming us .
We just came back from 2 weeks here; I don't think there's a better place to stay in El Zonte and would be hard to beat in a lot of places. This house is low key but stunning, the pictures don't do it justice. We were 2 couples each with a toddler, mostly surfing but also just hanging out with the kids. It's at the main point break basically, the beach is actually beautiful with incredible tide pools, and there's another small tide-dependent beach on the other side of the cliffs. Lots to explore for little kids and the adults as well.
The pool and the grounds have a perfect balance of shade and sun. The hammocks and the hang out areas are ideally placed. Eve met us and could not have been more generous or helpful, offering more help at any time during our stay - and she proved herself so. The caretaking family - Carlos, Marisol, and their kids - made our stay unimaginably better. Such excellent, caring, sincere people. They actually felt like family when we left.
We're hoping to go back as often as we can.
