New Orleans Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 3)

Treat yourself to a true French Quarter experience! This lovely carriage house is surrounded by lush gardens, flowers, sculpture, a tiered fountain stocked with colorful fish - and is located on the property behind a stunning historic mansion, circa 1823. The charming carriage house offers an open living area with queen bed and a wonderfully comfortable leather sofa which opens to a double bed. There is one full bath, flat-screen TV, a small but well-equipped kitchen, and plenty of closets for your Mardi Gras costumes! Entrance from Royal Street to the garden and carriage house is separate from the main house.

The large patio is perfect for cocktails before your dinner or event - or just for relaxing between sightseeing and shopping. For cool evenings, there are gas heaters for the patio/gardens. An outdoor shower is fun in the warmer weather.

You will 'breathe in' the history of the French Quarter in this gorgeous setting. Royal Street is simply one of the loveliest streets - so close to the Mississippi River, Jackson Square, restaurants, shopping and jazz clubs. Bourbon Street is one block away - but in this secret garden setting, tranquility prevails!

The larger house is the former home of actors Delta Burke (Designing Women) and Gerald McRaney (Simon and Simon, Major Dad), decorated in a tasteful Tuscan style. It is also available (see VRBO property #348055).

This is a home, not a rental property, so we are looking for renters who can respect that. This is a true French Quarter experience! Please write or call if you have questions or would like to see more photographs. This charming home is perfect for the discriminating traveler.

The Real French Quarter Experience

  • 5 of 5

My Husband and I stayed in the Carriage house on Royal Street during the last week of Mardi Gras. (Our first visit to NOLA). From the moment we arrived we knew we had made a fabulous choice. The location was perfection, walking distance to all the top galleries and fine dining, An easy walk to Cafe DuMonde and Jackson Square, and if you like, to Bourbon street. Even though we were only a block from Bourbon, it was quiet and felt safe. Its easy to get a pedi cab to the parades if you need one. The carriage house is small, but comfy, the big bed was filled with pillows to sink in and sleep like a baby after a day of exploring. Tiny kitchen was perfect for making morning coffee and late night snacks. Bathroom is tiny but has everything you need. You must love old houses and expect this vibe here,This isnt a cookie cutter hotel experience. The courtyard was beautiful filled with flowers and fruit trees. if you want to absorb the French Quarter atmosphere and true Southern Hospitality look no further, The owners were fabulous and invited us up to the main house to toss beads from the Gallery and have a cocktail. The Main house is amazing and filled with beautiful art and details. We hope to come back with our adult sons and rent the main house in the future. The big house second story would be a Honeymooners dream, large canopy bed and fabulous decor. We cant wait to come back!!!!

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at the carriage house. The location is perfect for anything you would like to do. Every thing you need is within walking distance. Royal Street is great for shopping and browsing. The cottage it self was very comfortable. The courtyard was very pleasant.

Great location

  • 3 of 5

This property was right in the French Quarter - walking distance to many venues. Terrific

places to eat, etc. However, it was really not as advertised. The downstairs had only one

legitimate bedroom right off the living room with no door in working condition to close it off. The access to a bathroom for that bedroom was through the living and dining room out

to the hallway to a bathroom. The other "bedrooms" were a couch that pulled out to a bed that led into a hallway which held a single bed which led to a bath????Nowhere but New Orleans would that be considered anything but a tv room!

Owner's Response: The owners home is accurately photographed and described in their VRBO Listing It was built in 1823 with over 2,400 sq feet of living space on each floor. The gigantic old pocket doors must be handled with care for privacy. This is our first review over 4 and a half years that has not been 5 STARS. Please read all the other 65 reviews that are 5 STARS The owners are personally in residence weekly and often for a month at a time. They pride themselves with the ultimate in care and perfect maintenance at all time. Your champagne will be chilling in our gardens for you. With the Greatest of Respect and Care for your Stay

The Big Easy Decision on Where to Stay...

  • 5 of 5

Vanilla...it's not! We rented the main house and carriage house while we were in New Orleans for a convention and boy were we delighted. We felt we got the quintessential New Orleans experience. Royal Street is one of the best streets to stay on with all of the galleries, shops, street performers, etc. You feel like you're in the action but not "IN" the action like on Bourbon Street. The house décor is big on personality. Vibrant colors, one-of-a-kind furnishings and beautiful artwork abound. The high ceilings make for a spacious grandiose feeling and the gorgeous mahogany bar greets you when you first walk through the door with all of the southern hospitality you'd expect from New Orleans. We'll be back for sure.

Perfect spring break trip with family. Rented main house and the carriage house

  • 5 of 5

We took our 3 seniors in high school to NOLA for 5 days of their spring break. The Royal street house main house and the cottage together was perfect for our 2 girls and boy and us to spread out. The location was perfect for us to get anywhere in quarter and easy for hailing a cab to places outside of it. We enjoyed the back porch morning and evening for hanging out together. Had everything we needed and we got things at Rouse's quarter market for snacks etc. Husband and I like to get out and walk so we got time together while kids slept in or did their thing at different restaurants too. The house manager Nikki was right there close if we needed anything. We love NOLA and have been many times as a couple and with the kids so knew places we wanted to visit and found some new ones around the house. It was like being a resident which we love and have rented houses in several places. Hated to leave and would definitely stay again!

You Won't Be Disappointed!

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our stay at the carriage house. It was super convenient and within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. Even though it was Mardi Gras and Bourbon Street was one block away, it was quiet and peaceful. We couldn't have made a better choice in accommodations.
