Reviewer Comments:

My friends and I really enjoyed staying at this house. The photos do not do it justice. The home was beautiful and clean, with very cool features and architecture. Some vacation homes can just be splattered with really weird cabin, Christian, nautical, or generic art but this place felt tasteful and well designed; A lovely pallet to be surrounded by throughout the week. The beach front was incredible and the Adirondack chairs set up away from the beach made for memorable sunset watching every evening. We were lucky to get to rent this home and be so close to the wedding of a friend that was held at the end of the week at shady trails camp. The few downsides include the kayaks being locked up and unable to be used easily, the fire pit being in a dark damp and buggy location, and finally, not fully realizing that there is truly only one bedroom with a door. This is a fine set up for a couple with kids, and all six of my friends and I technically had plenty of room to sleep and stay in the home, but it would have been nice if each of the three couples could have had proper privacy, or if the home could have been listed for cheaper due to the lack of privacy. Overall I have to say I really would come back in a heartbeat, but since my partner and I could never afford to rent the home alone for the week, we would again have to find others to join us who were willing and able to choose a week of vacation w no privacy. Which is fine for some I suppose! But not quite a fit for me ;)

Nice house good views nice beach. A week of sun and relaxation. Definitely recommend. Good company other then the unconstitutional ban of self defense tools during your stay at a unknown and isolated location.

Everything was very well maintained. Like stepping back in time reminiscent of when I was growing up and visiting my grandparents at their lake cottage. The property and location was amazing. Unique home with a wooded trail down to a quiet beach front. Crystal clear waters and long stretches of beach made this the perfect place for long walks, runs, kayaking, SUP boards, or just lazing in a beach chair. Also a great place to ride bikes. Roads up there are peaceful and go on for forever. Only issue was the refrigerator. It did not seem to get cold enough and some of our food spoiled. I'm sure it will be addressed as this home is well cared for. Several restaurants in town to chose from only a few miles away but we cooked at home during our entire week long stay. Cell service was nonexistent (not a bad thing :) but Wi-Fi worked well. Look forward to returning!

Reviewer Comments:

The location was most excellent! The house was well laid out and very comfortable. We throughly enjoyed the beauty of the beach. Biggest issues: 1. The kitchen was consumed with what were either knats or fruit flies. we placed ALL of our food in the regrigerator and spent a 45 minutes trying to vacuum them away only for them to return. This is NOT in any way an exaggeration. Having this situation occuring in the kitchen was a HUGE dissapointment and the thought of preparing food was completely undesirable! One thing we noticed was that the back door screen was not attached on the bottom & right side of the screen door therefore we kept the regular door closed after the 1st day. The owner & management company need to address this issue. 2. In the middle of grilling our steaks on the gas grill the gas ran out. We did not locate a spare tank and saw in the instructions there was not one and we were expected to drive into North Port and fill it. Seriously?! That is unacceptable. All other VRBOs we have rented have had spare tanks for their paying guests. For the cost of $280/night this is inexcusable. In conclusion I will just state that these 2 issues while only 2 in number would be a deal breaker for guests. For us we would like to know they have been addressed and resolved and then we would definately be returning guests. I also would add that I am not interesting in posting this to the VRBO website because that would be a big negative for the owners. I would rather know that it was important enough for your company to resolve.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review. We battle fruit flies this time of the year and there is no way for us to control them. You cannot spray pesticides, you cannot simply stop them. This area is a heavy agriculture area with fruit orchards, vineyards and hop farms. This is the time of the year for harvesting and with it comes fruit flies. We do leave notes on how to limit the. Keeping items refrigerated, wiping counter tops, having a fan on to blow them away. Fruit flies last for 5-6 weeks in early fall and then they are gone. We are very sorry you had to experience them. As far as propane supplying goes, it is correct we do not supply. Typically other rentals offer for a fee. We have looked at ways to offer this but have found no cost effective way to do so at this time. Our company does offer other items free of charge that others do not offer or charges for, such as spa towels, soap and paper products, wifi and such. We do want to offer you a great vacation and will work hard at improving what we can.

Reviewer Comments:

Beautiful view of the water from large, many windowed living /dining area. This saved the day since it was rainy and low 40's all week-end. Fortunately, watching the waters of the Great Lakes is an awe inspiring experience in any weather. Thank you so much for allowing dogs! All 3 were content in the large living area and had fun running down the shore when we ventured out into the cold. The location feels pleasantly remote from city life, yet is close to a few small towns (we stopped in Leland, Sutton's Bay and Northport) with interesting shops, restaurants and winery's. Travis City is about 30 minutes away (you drive through it coming and going) and offers many opportunities for vacation fun. The Sleeping Bear Dunes are not that much farther and are a must see if you have the time to be amazed. Only two negatives were the price (it is expensive) and the small fruit fly like insects that can fit through screens. They don't bite or land on you but you can see them flitting around the kitchen. Still, it's a beautiful place and we would like to go there again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us. We are sorry about the fruit flies. We do not like them either. They are the annoying fruit harvest guest that we have to tolerate every year. It sounds like you had a good time regardless. Thanks again.
