Sugar white sands and blue water are the main attractions in this beautiful paradise. Emerald green forests surround the property giving one the feeling of peace and privacy, and the beach is right out your door. Walk in the woods, go for a sailing adventure, or relax by a bonfire on the beach!
This is an amazing location that will have you coming back again and again on a pristine white sandy beach on West Grand Traverse Bay. Singing Sands is named as such because when you walk on the sand it 'sings' to you. This cozy 4 bedroom 3 bath rustic cabin will sleep 8 with 2 Queen, 2 Full. Home is 2 levels with 3 bedrooms upstairs and one on the lower level. Fully stocked kitchen. Flat Screen TV/VCR/DVD. No Cable. Washer/Dryer. Charcoal Grill. Linens are included. Pets considered. No smoking. No central heat, but a small pot-bellied stove in the living room and electric heat in 2 bedrooms.
Location is private in a wooded setting that opens to the beach. Big deck off of living room. Peace and quiet and spectacular in beauty. Minutes to the village of Northport where you can pick up groceries, gift shop, dine or have some beach fun at the marina. The town of Omena has a great winery and bar, art gallery and country grocery store. Pick up fresh local produce through the county. 15 minutes to Leelanau Lighthouse. Short drive to the casino. Lake Michigan is a great location for beach-combing and rock collecting. Traverse City is a half-hour away. Omena is home to a bird sanctuary for bird watchers. This is a magical place for an equally magical vacation. Your well mannered pet will be considered (please ask when booking).
Hi, I'm Chris Bishop, an Episcopal priest currently living in Pennsylvania. Singing Sands has been our family's vacation home for more than 50 years, and it has brought us many memories and much joy. We would love to have you as our guest, and please feel free to contact me at any time!
Christopher and Jessica purchased this house in 1960
We and 2 other couples stayed here for a long weekend early September. The place is rustic and older but worked well for 6 people. Could probably sleep more but would be tight. Beautiful sunrises, a nice calm bay for kayaking, Suttons Bay and Northport both bike-able, so we had a very active and fun time.
Rate it 3.5 - 4; our adult children loved it (ages 27-33). Access to water (beach) was awesome. Campfire on the beach at night is incredible. Close to lots of activities such as hiking, kayaking, shopping etc. Great memories were made for sure. I myself (parent) would've liked a bit more updated place and one that doesn't have musty smell. Cool art though. All in all, a good place to rent.
The location is great and the cottage is okay. Beautiful beach. Sandy, shallow a long way out and great for swimming. Can't walk far on the beach but that is typical for the area. Near Sutton's Bay and Northport-both great towns. Stay here for the location. The cottage itself is old. A bit dusty and not updated anytime lately. It's fine but expect rustic.
The property had a musty smell and the house was not very clean. Upon arrival one of our guests took it upon herself to re-clean all the silverware and coffee cups, feeling that the cleaning staff may not have done a sufficient job. The house was full of cobwebs and and generally not very clean. The hot tub had sand in the bottom and needed to be cleaned as well. Some of the rooms lacked screens and the screen door in the living room would not seal tight, allowing flies and other bugs to invade the house. The beach is a gem, and probably the highlight of the house. I would probably not rent this home again.
WE had a great week here. The beach was the best part of the week. It is a nice sandy beach with few stones and shallow a long ways out. We had 5 adult and 2 children in our group. We discovered the hot tub was not functioning properly and the property manager took care of it promptly. The kitchen facilities were cramped and could use a more thorough cleaning and were lacking in some basic utensils but we managed. Our biggest challenge was the lack of lighting in several of the rooms, especially the dining room and family room. We are curious about the overabundance and eclectic collection of artwork? Overall we had a great week.
We loved this property. It was very cozy, yet had plenty of space for our whole family. The beach was clean and private, the water was clear and beautiful, the grounds around the home were green and lush, and the house was stocked and comfortable. We would definitely come here again.
