The Blue cabin was great - nice and quiet location. Even loved the drive through the blueberry fields to get there. It was clean on arrival with a nice set of directions on what needed to be done and local points of interest. Plenty of odds and ends in the cabin to make your stay enjoyable - classic games, puzzles, books about the area etc. There are a lot of kitchen utensils and serving wares to cover all your needs. I loved the "pay it forward" pantry - plenty of spices, and seasonings to cover any needs.
We were comfortable during our stay, a couple nights were warm, but there are plenty of fans to keep the air flow going. Plenty of hot water for showers and clean up - washer and dryer were a huge hit with my wife. Would have liked to have been able to pick up one local tv channel to get the news. We bought a set of rabbit ears but I think they will need an aerial in this location to get reception. There was a variety of DVD's that the kids watched. Cell phone coverage with Verizon was good. Lake water was fine - no issues here with the plants in the shallow end. Plenty of loons, ducks and even an occasional bald eagle.
Overall we loved it. . It is a classic lakeside camp - probably 50 plus years old. Floors creek, chairs wobble, windows may need a nudge to open, but that really makes it even more enjoyable. The management company was good at communicating via email. We will be back next summer! Thanks for a great experience. The Williams Family Pensacola FL.
The cottage on Toddy Pond was clean and comfortable.
Super location, easy access, everything worked. Toddy Pond is big, lovely and quiet. However, I was disappointed with the waterfront at this property. There were many weeds (pickerel grass), waterlilies, and big rocks as you enter the water. I love to lake swim, but I did not find wading 20 feet through this muck appealing. I can't imagine children doing it at all. The dock was terrible. It was in three pieces, and I tripped on each one. There are bushes on shore that overgrow onto the dock and brush against your legs. (A no-no where I live due to ticks). The last portion of the dock in the water is resting on a big rock. There's no ladder to use to get into/out of the water. We brought our own canoe, but there was no beach to pull it onto. We had to drop the canoe from the dock into the water, which was inconvenient when it rained(since we lifted it out and turned it over).
I would not return to this property until the water is cleared of plants, and a new dock with a ladder is installed that takes you past the plants. Owners should cut away bushes right next to the dock, and consider cutting one small cluster of trees on each side of the waterfront to open up the view. View is very pretty but narrow, about
40 degrees. The cottage porch is strong, but a new small patio set would be nice instead of a rickety old table. Grill worked fine but grease pan needs to be emptied. The hammock and outdoor woodburning stove were nice touches. There's a big round planter at the front door without any plants - c'mon people! How hard is it to put in some seedlings? Indoors, the dining table is rickety and should be replaced. There's a tv in the photo and the listing, but it was not working. Rental agent was efficient via email, but brusque on the phone. Directions? "Use Google." Power outage? "Deal with it." (it was brief.) Any way to get the tv working? "No." We visited Castine which was beautiful and historic, and toured the USS Maine - awesome. We had a great dinner and local brews at Deggins on the harbor. Visited Blue Hill and Brooklin, Stonington and Isle au Haut. So we had a good time, but we would have liked a more easygoing stay right at the lake; however, the waterfront put us off. It kills me to say anything negative, because the cottage on Toddy Pond has so much potential. Fix the waterfront, give it some TLC, and I would recommend it heartily
