Location, location, location!!
Riverkern is a quiet residential area that many professional locals (law enforcement, forest service, fire department) choose to live because of the quality of life in the area. It's the last residential area going upstream towards the high country, and only three miles from Kernville.
Please note: This is NOT A PARTY ZONE, but a great location as a base for hiking, fishing, boating, and enjoying the great outdoors.
Clean, spacious, great patio for bbqing, close to the river, quiet residential neighborhood. Adjacent large lot for boat, trailers, etc with easy turnaround.
Great house and property at a great price.
They gave us a complementary bottle of wine and fire wood. The neighborhood was very quiet and pretty. The property the house sits on is huge! With a gated area, picnic tables, horse shoes, and the sound of many local birds including an owl! The house is fantastic for the price. To my surprise the beds were 5 STAR, incredible quality! Wowow! Wouldn't have expected that. Highly recommend and plan to return in the summer. :)
We heard about this place from a friend, not from this web site. The weather was warm, but the house swamp cooler did the trick. Afternoons sitting in the porch misters watching the mountains was so relaxing. Fishing "I got skunked". My son on the other hand was on fire. Really good size trout. Big enough to make a meal. This is a home. It is furnished with everything you could need, just like home. Kernville is a small town, that has great food and lot's of friendly people. We went half day river rafting on the lower Kern. 3 and small 4's rapids. We have rafted in a lot of places. It had been a long time so we started slow. Great time by all. Went back for more.
You can hear the river at night. Smell the fresh air and be stunned every morning and afternoon by the scenic beauty all around you. I have returned three times to this home and will come again and again.
This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Chris's house and will probably not be the last. It has all the charm and amenities you expect from a home away from home and then some. Such a peaceful setting and so many local sites to see. We feel very at home here and the owners are very friendly and communicative and easygoing. It has become a very special place for us and I can't recommend it highly enough!
grest place. Clean and fully stocked. Definitely take advantage of bubbles beach.
Very happy. Nice and peaceful neighborhood. Kids loved the space. It was a very nice vacation for us. Central location between town and river.
The property worked perfectly for us. Our group consisted of two couples and a teen. The house is not fancy, but who wants fancy when you are hiking and tubing? There is plenty of bedding, decently appointed kitchen, and a spacious living room. We used the grill both nights and were able to watch the opening of the college football season. The swamp cooler kept us comfortable in the summer heat and the misters are a great touch.
Best of all the house is walking distance from a beach that normally has limited access to locals only. Even on Labor Day weekend it wasn't too crowded and we were able to paddle and float in our tubes.
Chris was prompt and responsive and everything matched what he said.
