I am a semi- retired designer of homes and jewelry I travel as much as possible This is my permanent home I have cats who are looked after by my caretaker in my absence or they travel with me
WENDY purchased this house in 2001
It has been in the family for 60 years and I inherited this house and completely renovated it in 2006
I enjoy gardening, beach combing, swimming, cycling and watching the wild life and the water craft that passes by
Your place provided us the perfect vacation home for our family. We loved watching the sunsets and enjoying morning sun from the deck overlooking the ocean -- bird calls, the wind in the arbutus tree, and ocean walks. What more could we ask for ? It taught us to listen to the sounds of the earth
Thank you for opening your beautiful, comfortable home to us We would love to come again in the future.
We loved our stay here! The view is fantastic and the home is very comfortable. Wendy was a joy! Thanks! I hope we can come back.
We very much enjoyed our stay and the wonderful waterfront views from this home and it's close proximity to all the outstanding attractions that Victoria, BC and Vancouver Island has to offer visitors. The home is located in a very nice, quiet, and charming section of the Saanich peninsula. The host is welcoming, accommodating, and very knowledgeable about the area and attractions. There is a fully equipped kitchen that looks out onto the tranquil bay, tastefully decorated dining/family room, laundry room and everything one looking for a relaxing stay could ask for. We plan to return next year.
The home is loverly.
Modern and rustic at the same time.
Cannot think of anything (other than another few days to stay), that we needed or wanted for.
Location for peaceful down time is perfect.
Close enough for short grocery runs.
If you wand to do tourist Victoria it is only 45 minutes down the road.
Hope to stay again.
We had an otter wander across the yard and pool which was a highlight.
Thanks Wendy !
We discovered this fabulous home and sometime vacation rental about 3 years ago. We have stayed for one month, TWICE. Once in 2015 and again in 2016! We've just booked for another month for summer 2017! We love this house! Let me put this into context. We are VRBO property owners with VRBO and are VERY, very picky and have high standards and expect the places we rent to have them too. This home not only offers spectacular views, but the artist/designer owner has created a lovely, comfortable, private space for her guests. The home overlooks Satellite Channel, a lovely body of water between Lands End and Salt Spring Island beyond. You drive down a windy driveway, through a forest of trees, that opens up to the home and the view beyond. It's technically located in North Stanch (near Sidney), on the Saanich Peninsula, approximately 25 kilometres north of Victoria, British Columbia on southern Vancouver Island. The District is surrounded on three sides by 40 kilometres of ocean shoreline, and is comprised of rural/residential areas, a large agricultural base and is home to the Victoria International Airport and the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal. The Saturday North Saanich Farmers Market is one of the best we've ever been to, and we look forward to shopping there each Saturday while we're on the island.
Some observers call Sidney "the Banff of the Salish Sea." Never overdeveloped, never in a hurry, Sidney ranks as a bucolic seaside community with a distinct island sensibility. Its quality of life is plain to see in its friendly streets, low-rise architecture, public art, great bookstores, seaside promenade, walking trails, bike paths, sports fields, picnic areas and beaches. The people of Sidney believe they've found paradise. They're only too happy to share with newcomers.
We have been visiting Vancouver Island every year since 1990 and absolutely love its charm, beauty and relationship to nature and the First Nation peoples. We plan to keep on going.
We highly recommend this property -- again! If you want good design, charm, fabulous views, and a wonderfully helpful owner who cares about her property and her guests, then this is IT!!! She even picked fresh blueberries from her garden and brought them to us!
From our first view Wendy's home was a WOW and it just
kept getting better. In between morning coffee on the deck watching
a hummingbird feed on the Hibiscus tree in full bloom and
dinners at sunset we enjoyed a most relaxing time. The views from
the deck were an ever-changing seascape. The home is a
welcoming reflection of her creativity, her sense of design and
colour - we embraced it all. It was hard to leave but we will return..
Thank you Wendy for a most delightful weekend.....

We've just returned to California after our second month-long stay at this lovely home. The house is amazingly well appointed with fabulous views. Wendy, the owner, is an artist and it shows throughout her home with incredible care to detail.
We own a vacation rental Cottage and really appreciate how Wendy anticipates her guests' every need!
The house overlooks the water and is just a few steps down to the beach. The view changes daily as commercial and recreational boats use Satellite Channel to get to their destinations. One weekend, there was a series of races, and as sailors, we were delighted to watch the tacking, jibing, spinnaker raising and lowering, and jockeying for positions -- right in front of us.
We brought our yellow lab who LOVES the location! The fenced yard made it safe to let her out without worrying about her wondering off or going down to the beach alone. She loved the water and swam every day. We took a bed for her, plus 2 large beach towels to ensure we didn't leave a mess for Wendy.
The local North Saanich Farmers Market during the summer is a wonderful source for local fruits, vegetables, jams, and farm-fresh foods that are unique and wonderful. The Deep Cove neighborhood market on West Saanich Road provides fresh baked goods, local products, a good variety of staples and produce and a very friendly, helpful staff -- great lattes too. There are several large grocery stores in Sidney, and there's a Costco in Victoria.
Getting into Sidney and Victoria is easy by using the Highway 17, and it is so nice to come back "home" to the quiet and peacefulness of Wendy's house. To go up island, it's easy to time your trip for the Brentwood-Mill Bay Ferry and you cut off nearly an hour of driving.
Make sure you plan to get to the west coast to visit Botanical beach, Mystic and Sombrero waterfalls. Witty's, Esquimalt Lagoon, French Beach, Sandcut Beach, China Beach are wonderful, and if you are a photographer, you will LOVE them! Sherringham Point Lighthouse is fascinating.
There are good restaurants nearby. Our favorites are Sea Glass and Beacon Landing. But cooking at the house is a dream. Everything you need is there for your use. There is a formal dining table for 8. The deck table can serve 4 - 6 and was great to enjoy our morning coffee and a glass of wine in the evening.
I think we are officially addicted to this amazing house. We have already booked it for next July. We highly recommend it.
