Guestbook comments from the owner

Your place provided us the perfect vacation home for our family. We loved watching the sunsets and enjoying morning sun from the deck overlooking the ocean -- bird calls, the wind in the arbutus tree, and ocean walks. What more could we ask for ? It taught us to listen to the sounds of the earth

Thank you for opening your beautiful, comfortable home to us We would love to come again in the future.

It's like coming home...We can't wait to return!

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned to California after our second month-long stay at this lovely home. The house is amazingly well appointed with fabulous views. Wendy, the owner, is an artist and it shows throughout her home with incredible care to detail.

We own a vacation rental Cottage and really appreciate how Wendy anticipates her guests' every need!

The house overlooks the water and is just a few steps down to the beach. The view changes daily as commercial and recreational boats use Satellite Channel to get to their destinations. One weekend, there was a series of races, and as sailors, we were delighted to watch the tacking, jibing, spinnaker raising and lowering, and jockeying for positions -- right in front of us.

We brought our yellow lab who LOVES the location! The fenced yard made it safe to let her out without worrying about her wondering off or going down to the beach alone. She loved the water and swam every day. We took a bed for her, plus 2 large beach towels to ensure we didn't leave a mess for Wendy.

The local North Saanich Farmers Market during the summer is a wonderful source for local fruits, vegetables, jams, and farm-fresh foods that are unique and wonderful. The Deep Cove neighborhood market on West Saanich Road provides fresh baked goods, local products, a good variety of staples and produce and a very friendly, helpful staff -- great lattes too. There are several large grocery stores in Sidney, and there's a Costco in Victoria.

Getting into Sidney and Victoria is easy by using the Highway 17, and it is so nice to come back "home" to the quiet and peacefulness of Wendy's house. To go up island, it's easy to time your trip for the Brentwood-Mill Bay Ferry and you cut off nearly an hour of driving.

Make sure you plan to get to the west coast to visit Botanical beach, Mystic and Sombrero waterfalls. Witty's, Esquimalt Lagoon, French Beach, Sandcut Beach, China Beach are wonderful, and if you are a photographer, you will LOVE them! Sherringham Point Lighthouse is fascinating.

There are good restaurants nearby. Our favorites are Sea Glass and Beacon Landing. But cooking at the house is a dream. Everything you need is there for your use. There is a formal dining table for 8. The deck table can serve 4 - 6 and was great to enjoy our morning coffee and a glass of wine in the evening.

I think we are officially addicted to this amazing house. We have already booked it for next July. We highly recommend it.

Don't Miss This One!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week early in May, 2015 at this delightful home situated on the northern tip of the Saanich Peninsula (overlooking Saltspring Island). The vista was spectacular, with a beach to walk on and a deck to survey the otters playing and birds caring for their young. The house was very well kept and had all the amenities one could want.

We are active people and the home provided us with lots of chances to cycle, run and walk. It is close to Sidney so we were easily able to pick up groceries, go to the local theatre and browse in bookstores.

The owner was helpful, informative and readily available if we had any questions.

I highly recommend this home as a getaway place to either relax on the deck and/or indulge in an active lifestyle!

Perfect setting!

  • 5 of 5

We rested. We played. We explored. And we rested . . . . Coming to this home restored our sense if calm. All of the accommodations were clean, in great condition, even extravagantly comfortable. What a precious place and great experience.

Discovering a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Your home is beautiful and we loved every minute of our stay there. Our only problem was that we had over-scheduled ourselves with friends in Victoria and Sydney when we really just wanted to sit on the deck and enjoy the view and wonderful quiet.

One of the delightful surprises of your home was the "magic" mirror in the master bedroom. I am 5'1" and about 112 lbs but I discovered quickly that I was transformed into a sylph-like 5'10", still 112 lbs as I walked from the great room down the hall towards the bedroom. I found reasons to walk that hallway over and over. Every home should have such a mirror!!

We also loved visiting with your sweet and beautiful cats on the deck and in the garden. We weren't sure how they would interact with our dogs so didn't invite them into the house.

We hope to return some day.

Tranquil Garden by the water.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I found a new area outside Victoria that was delightful. Wendy's home is cozy and stylish, her garden is lovely and her cat Potsi adorable. The view is incredible and this quiet getaway is a perfect base for exploring Salt Spring Island, nearby Sydney's bookstores or all the charms of Victoria. Wendy happened to be staying in the basement during our trip and is a charming host. We immediately booked this house again for the summer before we left in spring. Looking forward to returning to this lovely house on the water.

Perfect for a summer vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate to spend a week at this home last summer and couldn't have been happier. The long driveway down to the house immediately delivers a feeling of privacy, and the gardens around the house are very welcoming. The home is very nicely updated- modern, warm and spacious, yet still feels cozy. The kitchen was well stocked with the basics and more. We cooked most our dinners and there was nothing missing. There is a huge table, that allowed our family of 4 to eat at one end, and leave the board game out in mid-competition mode at the other! The linens and bedding were great- special thanks to Wendy for her detail in that regard. Couldn't ask for a more comfortable bed, which is so appreciated when you're on vacation. Some mornings I just stayed in it and read a book! The fact that it was so quiet also contributed to our great sleeps!

The view is gorgeous from all the large windows, and we enjoyed our time relaxing on the deck. The beach is a quick little jaunt thru the back yard. We took the zero-gravity chairs down there with our beer & books, and life was good. You can walk a long ways down the beach in both directions if you want to explore.

There is a grocery store close by and town is just a few minutes away if you want to shop or go out for dinner. We drove to a nearby beach called 'Cole's Bay' and did a day trip over to Fisgard Lighthouse Historical Park, which I highly recommend. Gorgeous and well maintained site!

Finally, Wendy was great to deal with before, during and after (I left my phone charger behind and she got it back to me very quickly!).1 We also loved visiting her cat Sylvestor and his buddies (when they were in the mood!). Thank you for sharing your home Wendy! We don't often go to the same place twice (it's such a big world to see!), but we might make an exception as we'd love to come back some day.
