When it comes to location, Oleander is hard to beat. This modern, exceptionally well furnished beachside apartment is superbly situated, being sandwiched between St Kitts’ premier golf course, (the “Royal St Kitts”) and the lovely North Frigate Bay Beach, just along from the Island’s award winning Marriott Resort.
The Caribbean beach, with its numerous bars/restaurants, known locally as “the Strip”, is just 7 minutes gentle stroll away, and there’s a large selection of popular restaurants, shops, food stores, hairdressers and a taxi rank just a few hundred yards away. So, unlike many accommodations on the hilly Island of St Kitts, the beaches and all necessary amenities are right on hand, making the rental of a car unnecessary. Whether you are looking for fine dining or a burger, cocktails or the local Carib beer, you will find it all within a stone’s throw.
Oleander is a privately owned modern first floor apartment on a beachfront condo development which boasts two large communal swimming pools, a whirl pool and a tennis court. Poolside sunbeds and chairs are provided for your use. If you are looking for a really well equipped holiday home to provide a ‘home from home’ experience, then look no further.
The well maintained spacious apartment has been decorated and fitted out to a high standard and offers an open plan living and dining area and a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances, including cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer, blender, coffee maker, toaster and kettle. A flat screen TV, both DVD and CD players and a selection of DVD’s and CD’s are provided for your entertainment, together with a selection of holiday reading. Cable TV and Wi-Fi internet are also included for your convenience.
French doors lead out from both the living space and from the master bedroom, onto a spacious 32” covered terrace, which is comfortably furnished to enable you to relax and enjoy both the fabulous sea view and the cooling Atlantic breeze. Being south facing, by morning you can watch the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean, by day it’s the perfect place to catch the sunshine, and by evening you can take in the spectacular sunsets while enjoying a cocktail or two.
You have the choice of renting Oleander either as a 1 bedroom (890 square feet) or 2 bedroom (1034 square feet) suite. The master bedroom has a king bed whilst the second bedroom can be set up as a King or a Twin room. Each room benefits from ample build in closet space, hairdryer, radio, and alarm clock and there’s a flat screen TV in the master bedroom. The spacious bathroom is fitted with a large walk in shower. There’s also a large sofa bed in the lounge which will accommodate 2 additional guests (for an additional charge) which makes Oleander ideal for groups of 2 – 6 persons.
Ceiling fans and AC are fitted in all rooms, but with wonderful trade winds wafting through you will often find neither is needed.
All towels and extra bed linens are provided and there’s a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board for your use.
St Kitts has some wonderful beaches, some with bars, restaurants and beach loungers for rent, others totally deserted. So if you fancy taking yourself off to a deserted beach to play Robinson Crusoe for the day, we even provide you with beach towels, beach chairs, a cool bag, a sun umbrella and picnic essentials!
Oleander really is ‘home from home’, in the perfect location on a ‘Special Gem’ of an island; and for that reason many of our guests return each year.
As another reviewer stated, it was a bit scary to wire transfer a large sum of money to an overseas bank, but everything worked out more perfectly than I could have imagined. Both the owner of the condo, Dianne, and the property manager, Avenice, were great to work with. Avenice's assistant, Clarissa, meet us at the airport. Clarissa held a sign with out last name, so she was easy to find. She put us in a cab and then immediately met us at the condo to let us in. Avenice met with us first thing Monday morning (we arrived on Saturday afternoon) to give us a thorough orientation, answer questions about the condo and the island, and to recommend tours and drivers. She answered all of our questions and got us the extra set of keys we requested. Upon checkout after verifying that everything was still in working order, she returned our security deposit in cash. The whole process was very simple.
The condo itself felt a bit cramped because there is A LOT of furniture in the living area. We moved some of it around for our week's stay to make things more comfortable and then the place was perfect for us. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning in the bedrooms was a godsend. The living area also had air conditioning, but we didn't use it. We spent most of our time on the huge balcony which had an amazing breeze constantly blowing off of the Atlantic. We also used the pool daily. Since it is the off season, we had the pool to ourselves most days.
The Atlantic Beach is very close to the condo; it is down a short path right on the grounds of the condo complex. Be aware though that the beach may be unusable. While we were there, the beach was covered in seaweed. There were (and I am not exaggerating here), six feet deep piles of it extending across the entire beach, while more continued to wash in from the ocean. This is obviously nobody's fault, and an unusual occurrence. Apparently, it's a problem that is plaguing much of the Caribbean right now. Please don't come to this condo (at least anytime soon), and expect to take a long walk down the Atlantic coastline because it is truly unpassable. Yet, the view was lovely, and as stated before, the breeze was unparalleled.
The condo is also nicely situated. In one direction are some restaurants, a golf course, a coffee shop, a pizza place, a cab stand, and RAMS (a minimart). In the other direction is "the strip" and South Frigate Bay Beach on the Caribbean. This is a fun place to eat and get drinks.
My husband & I just returned from a lovely 11 night stay at Oleander, & enjoyed every minute. The condo was bright, comfortable, well equipped & extremely well maintained. The wonderful breeze that blew constantly on our side of the island kept the condo very comfortable, & we only used the air con in the bedroom to sleep at night. We didn't cook in on this trip (other than basic breakfast), but the kitchen is well equipped for food preparation. We loved the deck running the length of the condo. It was always breezy with a variety of very comfortable furniture, & we loved sitting out there for breakfast in the morning, & enjoying our evening coffee there with the sound of the waves. The pool was clean, & very quiet - we often had it to ourselves, although the neighbours we met while there were lovely & very friendly. We thought Oleander was very well situated on the island, being within walking distance of a number of slightly more upscale restaurants in one direction, & The Strip on the Caribbean side for more casual dining (literally only about a 7 or 8 minute walk away). Some of our personal favourites were Rituals Sushi, Rituals Coffee for late night coffee as well as an excellent breakfast, Ciao for very good Italian fare, & Bombay Blues for excellent Indian food, & Serendipity in Basseterre. On the Strip, we enjoyed sunset drinks at The Dock, Chinchillas, Cathy's for good ribs & the Shiggidy Shack for an excellent breakfast (served only on weekends). The condo is located about a 10-15 minute drive from the airport, & Basseterre, so although we had a car for a week of our stay to explore the island, it is not an overly far cab ride into town. I should also say how much we enjoyed the small touches such as the soap, shampoo & conditioner dispenser in the shower, as well as an ample supply of toilet paper. We have had rentals in the past where this was not the case. And lastly, a huge thank you to Dianne, Dave & Avenice for making the booking process seamless & pleasant, answering all e-mails promptly. Avenice met us at the airport & was kind enough to drive us to Oleander on arrival night, & Dianne was kind enough to pick up a few basic groceries for us so that we didn't have to rush to the grocery store on our first morning. It was lovely to have Dianne & Dave in residence while we were there. They were so welcoming to us & helpful with suggestions on where to go & things to do. We would definitely recommend Oleander for your visit to St. Kitts.
we had a lovely time at the beautiful Oleander!! The condo was exactly like the pictures and the veranda was all of that and then some!! We ate most of our meals out there as well as our "afternoon snacks & cocktails"!!
The condo is within walking distance of some great spots including the Marriott, Timothy beach & our favorite little local spot, Patsy's, where you can find the best fish sticks ever!!

We stayed a week at this location in Aug 2014, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The condo is small, but very well appointed and cozy. The complex has a nice pool and it is located in a great location. You can walk 5 minutes to the coffee shop, several restaurants, or a small market with everything you could need. You are also located near both the Atlantic and Caribbean sides and can walk either direction. The condo is walking distance to the Marriott resort, which has nice restaurants, golf, casino, spa and a great pool and beach area. By far the best part of this rental is the porch. Sitting there with a drink and the breeze listening to the waves was by far the highlight of the trip. Highly recommended.
We always stay in apartment when we travel and Oleander did not disappoint us! This is everything that is described and then some... This is a lovely apartment in an open complex with a very nice pool. The pictures are very accurate. My favorite part was the porch with its off beach breeze especially in the evening when I sat out reading sipping my Ting's. The apartment is clean and well stocked. Avenice met us at the airport and bravely came to the apartment with us riding in our rental car with me driving on the left for the very first time in my life! She will advise you where to get groceries in Basseterre and there is a small and adequate Rams right down the street. There are several students and staff from the medical and vet schools living in the other apartments who were very nice, polite, quiet and very friendly. These schools are pretty rigorous on standards for their students so that should make prospective travelers feel good about the area. This is a second floor apartment so if any steps are hard for you that would be difficult. We drove around the island but you could go to many pleas by Taxi: there are referrals in the apartment's book and Greg was especially nice. The apartment is located between the trendy Marriott (about .75 mi away) and the beach and "Strip" of beach bars/restaurants where many locals go--yummy! (about .75 miles the other direction). We walked these paths several times and never felt concerned about our safety--everyone was friendly and there were always lots of people about. On the road to the Marriott is a row of restaurants (Rock Lobster our fav) and a coffee shop with free wifi (the apartment's was temporarily out of service while we were there)Traveled one day to Brimstone Fort (spectacular views) and once to Ottley's for Father's Day brunch. Took the passenger ferry to Nevis and went to the Botanical Gardens (beautiful and lovely lunch with very nice views). The beach here is undeveloped but I suppose swim-able. We did not go in but walked it several times. All in all this apartment made our week very enjoyable: great location, comfortable accommodations and Avenice was extraordinarily helpful. We have recently returned from a wonderful 11 night holiday on the lovely island of St Kitts where we stayed in the Oleander apartment. It proved ideal - very nicely furnished with doors opening onto the big balcony which made the apartment light and cool. Because the St Christopher Club is on the Atlantic beach there is always a lovely breeze which we appreciated whilst becoming used to the temperatures and humidity. The apartment has every facility you could wish for and we were very comfortable there. Very close by are restaurants of all categories, a small Rams store which provides essentials, a pharmacy and a taxi rank. Just 5/10 minutes walk along a well made and well lit road you come to the Caribbean beach with the calmer waters, Timothy Beach Resort and of course "The Strip" which if you like a night life, you'll find here plus numerous eating places. We tried Chinchillas and had a very good Mexican themed meal but you'll find fish and sea food on every menu. I particularly enjoyed lobster filled ravioli in a saffron sauce at Ciao's which is just a few minutes walk from Oleander. The booking process was very easy and both Dianne the owner and Avenice the property manager were very helpful both before and during the holiday and whilst we didn't meet Dianne, Avenice met us at the airport, was very friendly and gave us every support during our holiday. We can thoroughly recommend Oleander and one last thing, the complex has a very nice pool which we never had to share.

At only 68 square miles, St Kitts is easy to navigate and there’s a wealth of wonderful things to do and see on this magical, largely unspoilt, tropical Caribbean island beyond its beautiful coastal scenery and stunning beaches.
