This totally renovated, 800 sq. ft. waterfront condo can be configured as one or two bedrooms - your choice - but please note that rentals are restricted to one party at a time. The second bedroom, if not needed, can be opened up in seconds to add space and even more lovely views to the living room. The NEW ZONED CENTRAL A/C, allows each bedroom to have a separate, quiet, heat/cooling zone, and is a sure-fire way to beat the summer humidity that can settle in the mountains.
WATERFRONT POOLSIDE 5 is our personal home for the winter months, not just another rental condo, and is equipped accordingly with the highest quality luxury amenities we could afford. TRUE WATERFRONT HOMES ARE RARE IN THE MT. WASHINGTON VALLEY, and to have such a stunning, elevated view of the water as does Poolside 5 is even rarer. Come enjoy the pool to wade or swim, fish for brookies from the foot bridge, float in the inflatable pool lounges or just sit in your living room or out by the pool for hours gazing at the amazing reflections on the pool surface of the maple, birches and stately white pines surrounding the pool, while enjoying the bubbling waterfall sounds in the background. In the winter months, the falls get draped with ice formations, yet keep gushing the brook waters across the lovely granite ledges.
The Poolside grounds were part of the historic Russel's Cottages resort, founded in 1863. The private, natural granite pool is formed by an historic, 1924 granite dam with a bubbling waterfall and romantic footbridge, home to brook trout all summer. The current building was built in the 1960s as a 6-unit condominium. All owners have since renovated and updated their units to a high standard. The added bonus' are the SUNRISES OVER THE POOL as well as the SUNSET MOUNTAIN VIEWS of the Moat Mountain range from the master bedroom windows.
The Poolside 5 master bedroom features LONG WATER VIEWS of the brook from your queen bed, genuine oriental carpets, HI-THREAD COUNT SHEETS, quilts and a SEPARATE A/C AND HEAT ZONE for quiet comfort all day and night. The north end of the living area can be closed off using the convenient folding mahogany floor-to-ceiling privacy wall to create a second bedroom with SEPARATE AC/HEAT ZONE and a very comfortable leather sofa bed with auto-inflating quilted queen mattress, as well as more dramatic water views from the bed. With this wall closed you still have an elegant living and dining area with comfy lounging furniture, a SOLID CHERRY DINING SET FOR 6 with pendant lights and, of course, the stunning views of the pool and stately pines through the glass walls.
Jenn and I searched for over ten years for just the right New Hampshire property for our retirement winters. We kept returning to Kearsarge Village for its central proximity to skiing and North Conway Village, as well as the elegant, historic setting. We stumbled on Poolside 5 in May of 2012 and were instantly enthralled by the unique and stunning views of the Pool. We bought the condo two days later, we were that certain we had found exactly what we wanted. Sure, the unit needed total renovation, but with the views it has, it was easily worth all the expense and trouble of bringing the condo up to our high standards of luxury. Sorry, but SMOKING IS NOT NOT PERMITTED AT ANY TIME. WELL-BEHAVED DOGS WILL BE CONSIDERED. Subletting is not permitted and overnight capacity is generally limited to four persons, though a child or young adult can be accomodated on the included thick inflatable single bed.

Kearsarge Village has always been our favorite area in the Valley for its quiet, history, elegant homes and central location to North Conway, Cranmore Mountain, Echo Lake, Cathedral Ledge, Diana's Baths and all the other amazing natural wonders of the Mt. Washington Valley. We absolutely love waterfront properties and our other home in Nova Scotia also has an incredible water view (see cottagesincanada listing # GL-10996). We had planned on buying a detached home in New Hampshire but when Pooside 5 came on the market, well, one look at the view and we were hooked. We knew that you can always update a building, and we certainly have, but you can't change the view. The five other owners in our small condo community all agree that we have one of the finest locations in the entire Mt. Washington Valley.
As stated in the Property Description, BEAUTIFUL WATERFRONT VIEWS ARE RARE IN THE MT. WASHINGTON VALLEY, and the sweeping elevated view of the deep clear granite pool from our unit is probably unique. Smaller condos (under 1,000 sq. ft) suitable for couples and small families with numerous luxury upgrades are even rarer (possibly unique). Poolside 5 is a special opportunity for a couple with means who want a fine property with room to accomdate children or the occasional guests.
We completely upgraded Poolside 5 on Kearsarge Brook to be our personal winter home, and we have very high standards, as well as years of experience as landlords of a luxury property. We're delighted that we can share the Poolside experience with rental quests while we are at our summer home over in Nova Scotia or cruising on our sailboat. We don't do all this work just for the income, for we really enjoy and treasure the comments we receive from our rental guests.
A very clean, quiet and modern unit in a beautiful spot. Plenty of space for a couple or small family. Sitting and taking-in the view of the woods and water from the generously-windowed second story could, all by itself, be a relaxing and satisfying way to spend your time here. You might never know that you're situated just feet from the road and minutes from the center on North Conway. Anyone who's spent time in NC knows to avoid Route 16 (through town) at most times and are likely already well-acquainted with West Side Rd as one way to do this. They may not know that Kearsarge Rd is equally well-suited for this (along with North-South Rd), allowing quick access to all points North and South while avoiding most of the traffic. This property is in a perfect location to take advantage of this and is still within walking distance to the center of town. One could easily spend a week here and never get trapped in a NC traffic jam. There's also some nice (short) hiking along the river. It's hard not to enjoy your time here.
This is a must stop and stay if your traveling to the White Mountains. It is definitely a home away from home! The location is close to everything, the views and natural pool was so unbelievable and my kids enjoyed swimming in it and playing in the waterfall. The condo is completely updated with high end appliances and very nicely decorated. It is very clean and well kepted and we look forward to coming back!
My wife and I and our two daughters and our dog stayed here for a long weekend. The condo is close to a lot of nearby amenities- minutes from downtown north conway, and ~ 10 minutes from Storyland. Cranmore Mountain is right nearby as well. The unit was clean and nicely updated, especially the bathroom. There is one bedroom, and then the second bedroom is actually the TV room with an retractable accordion divider wall separating it from the dining/sitting area. We had a pleasant experience with the owners and the rental process as well.
We stayed with our two children - ages 5 and 6. There was plenty of space for all of us. The separate sleeping area for the children was excellent! At night my husband and I would sit on the deck and enjoy the peaceful quiet. The bathroom is so nice - the options in the shower (2 different shower heads) make you feel spoiled! The owners are so welcoming and let you use their floating lounge chairs - which the kids thought fabulous! Having a full kitchen was also great. Staying here was easy and comfortable.
My wife, 7 yr old son and I stayed at this wonderful waterfront condo over the long, HOT, July 4 weekend. Everything was perfect! We travel a lot but rarely do we find such comfy accommodations with top quality amenities in a rental. The place was recently remodeled and looked brand new in every respect. Not a stain on the carpet nor a smudge on the wall. Top notch Kohler fixtures, professional grade appliances, beautiful granite countertops, cavernous multi-head shower; and even the small details reflect the owner's upscale taste like the Henckel knives,Weber grill, and fine antique wall hangings and furniture pieces. The brand new super quiet Mitsubishi HVAC units kept the place delightfully cool despite the 90 degree temps outside that week. My wife enjoyed her cup of coffee each morning out on the deck overlooking the stream reading to my son, while I took a few casts below and hooked several Brook trout even before breakfast. Inevitably the solitude would be broken as my son traded his book for his fishing rod and joined me with great success each day. (The small yellow spinners work best, but smash the barbs with pliers to ensure trouble free catch and release so others can enjoy too). The location was great -- just a 4-5 minute drive to North Conway to enjoy all that this fun town has to offer. In less than 5 minutes we were at Cranmore ski resort where our 7 yr old had the greatest time riding the hill tubes, mountain coasters, bungee swings, etc. The ski lift took us to the top of the mountain for a pleasant picnic lunch -- and cooler temps! One day we took the amazing ride up Mt Washington where we did a few day hikes from the summit parking lot. When we returned we took advantage of the owner's offer to use their floating lounge chairs and off we jumped from the base of the walking bridge into the Kearsarge creek natural pool that forms just outside the condo unit. The water was chilly but what a relief after hiking in near 90 degree temps all afternoon. We paddled in the rafts upstream where my son spent an hour or more catching frogs and tadpoles in the creek before it got dark; at which point we allowed the current to return us to the natural pool alongside the condo. Still so much we want to do in the area but simply ran out of time. We'll be back for sure! After all, we didn't even get to try out the new gas fireplace that looks so cozy tucked in the corner with a backdrop of stunning water views. Next time!

Take the grandchildren to the famous STORYLAND children's them park (10 minutes away) for a day or two of magical, Disney-like pleasures for the little ones. or ride the restored NORTH CONWAY SCENIC RAILROAD up into the high mountains of Crawford Notch St. Park. If it's hot, take the kids to the nearby WATER PARKS at Cranmore Mountain or in North Conway, or just get out the pool lounges and let them float and play in the deep, clear pool while you watch them from the shade of your living room!
Some of the finest hiking and mountaineering trails in North America are 1 to 30 minutes from your door (trails guides on the desk), including the world famous TUCKERMAN RAVINE TRAIL ON MT. WASHINGTON (20 minutes away) as well as the stunning, panoramic views from the historic fire tower at the top of Kearsarge Mountain (2 minutes to the trailhead). North Conway's Whitaker Woods Conservation Park is just a 5-minute walk from your door to enjoy the lovely, easy and well marked trails. Attatash, Wild Cat, Cranmore and Black Mountain ski areas, all with numerous summer recreation facilities, are 1 to 25 minutes away.
SUMMER THEATER, festivals and events in North Conway Jackson, NH and in Freyburg, ME, run all summer long and into the fall foliage season. Swim and relax in the heated pool and spa of the famous historic EASTERN SLOPE INN (five minutes away -short term passes can be purchases at a reasonable price). The North Conway outlet shopping is well-known for variety and quality.
GOLF at some beautiful and challenging mountain courses in nearby North Conway, Jackson and Bethlehem.
The towns of Freyburg and Bethel, ME, are each 20 minutes away and feature a variety of events all summer, including the concerts and plays at the Freyburg Academy Arts Center as well as the famous Freyburg Country Fair in the fall.
So, when you start to feel guilty about sitting too much and watching the deep, mezmerizing Poolside pool, you'll be right in the middle of all the great summer attractions of the Mt. Washington Valley, a superb vacation destination for over 150 years.
