Welcome to our cabin on the holy waters of the AuSable River. Our cabin is 50 feet from the river with a slightly elevated private setting that offers you everything you could possibly want to escape into the peaceful serenity Northern Michigan offers. Whether it is fishing, hiking, golfing, kayaking, canoeing or simply escaping to a peaceful relaxing environment, our cabin will suit your needs.
We're located on a prime stretch of the “Holy Waters”, a 'flies only', 'catch and release' section nationally recognized by people all over the world. Simply walk out the front door and wade into the river to experience the pleasure of fishing in the world class AuSable River.
Grayling is home to the Manistee and AuSable River, which are among the premier trout streams in the nation, offering over one hundred miles of cool, crystal clear streams to explore. Visitors will enjoy the convenience of many road access points and public fishing sites. Some areas are best navigated from a canoe, drift boat, raft or riverboat. Boat access is near by.
Begin or end your kayak or canoeing trip from our dock. Or visit the nearby canoe and kayak liveries in Grayling or Roscommon for your float on the AuSable River. For those of you that enjoy winter sports, the cabin is located inside the snow-belt region of Michigan. The annual snowfall in this region is significant. Many snow-shoeing, down-hill skiing and cross-country skiing access areas are nearby.
This cabin is in a prime location. The North Branch AuSable, South Branch AuSable/Mason Tract, Forest Dunes Golf Course and downtown Grayling is literally 10 minutes away.
Visit charming downtown Grayling or Roscommon where you can browse the quaint shops and restaurants. The Forest Dunes Golf Club is ranked as one of the top public golf courses in Michigan. Mackinac island is 85 miles away. Hartwick Pines State Park is 15 minutes away. The South Branch AuSable River Mason Tract is 10 minutes away. Hanson Hills Ski Resort/Park is 20 minutes away. Gaylord, Traverse City, Lake Michigan, Petoskey, Houghton and Higgins Lakes and many others are a short drive away. This cabin is in an ideal central location for exploring Northern Michigan or to just rest and relax.
The cabin offers a riverside screened-in porch, 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen bed while the second bedroom has two sets of bunk beds. We offer a full kitchen, gas grill, washer/dryer and television with DVD. All linens and towels are provided.
We hope you enjoy our cabin as much as we do and hope you are able to create your own memories here.
We are fishing and paddling enthusiasts that have explored much of the United States. We have paddled and fished many rivers in Michigan and found the AuSable River our favorite. So in 2003 we settled in Grayling for our recreational home.
We chose the Grayling area mostly because of the access to the AuSable River and it's tributaries. We also liked this location because it is centrally located in Northern Michigan making the rivers, parks and other attractions easily accessible.
We love our cabin because it is warm, homey, we have privacy and yet views of the river. The screened porch allows watching the river flow by without being bothered by the hatches that are common on the river.
Prime location, clean cabin and beautiful views. What else could you ask for!?! If you enjoy trout fishing, there is not a better spot. Just a few steps out the back door and you are in trout heaven. The area is very peaceful, but if you want to head to town, you are not far away. We will definitely visit again. Thanks Wendy!
We've spent the summer staying in amazing vacation homes on Michigan rivers, and this was our favorite by far (that's saying something - the competition is strong). I'll echo every other reviewer in praising the cleanliness and comfort of the cabin. Can't overstate just how well maintained it is - and well supplied, too. It's not stocked with odds and ends, but rather, matching dishes and quality cookware, etc. Nice, new appliances, linens and fixtures. Comfy furniture. Good selection of DVDs. Excellent location. Loved the wildlife - osprey, eagles, a pair of deer (including a young buck), and jays - that hung out on the property. The fishing is world class and the river is beyond beautiful. Recommend getting a guided trip from Old Au Sable Fly Shop (we liked Tim a lot) if you're interested in fly fishing. Or just relax on the dock or screened-in porch. Definitely get breakfast or lunch from nearby Gates Lodge. We were sad to leave and can't wait to return. Wendy, the owner, is awesome. Thanks for an unforgettable weekend.
The location was perfect. Loved watching the fisherman, canoes, and all the wildlife. The cabin was stocked with tons of kitchen supplies, movies, games, and things to make you feel welcomed and at home. We loved our stay and will definitely stay again.
We very much enjoyed our stay again this year! A delightful & clean home ~ and a wonderful owner! A slice of heaven. :)
Beautiful cozy cabin. Very well maintained and extremely clean. The kitchen is well-stocked. Fishing on the Holy Waters is steps away. Wendy the owner was friendly and very helpful. Looking forward to book again!
My girlfriend and I needed a quick getaway and found this cabin. It was perfect- super clean, warm, cozy, and secluded without being too far away from Grayling. We loved it. We brought puzzles and movies to work on around the cabin, sat by the river and enjoyed the water sounds, had a nice day hike at hartwick pines (au sable river foot trail), and just enjoyed the quiet. In town we ate at Spike's keg o nails which was a great little dive bar with burgers and beer; perfect after walking for a few hours. I would return and would recommend to other couples or families looking for some nice together time.
