Welcome to our cabin on the holy waters of the AuSable River. Our cabin is 50 feet from the river with a slightly elevated private setting that offers you everything you could possibly want to escape into the peaceful serenity Northern Michigan offers. Whether it is fishing, hiking, golfing, kayaking, canoeing or simply escaping to a peaceful relaxing environment, our cabin will suit your needs.

We're located on a prime stretch of the “Holy Waters”, a 'flies only', 'catch and release' section nationally recognized by people all over the world. Simply walk out the front door and wade into the river to experience the pleasure of fishing in the world class AuSable River.

Grayling is home to the Manistee and AuSable River, which are among the premier trout streams in the nation, offering over one hundred miles of cool, crystal clear streams to explore. Visitors will enjoy the convenience of many road access points and public fishing sites. Some areas are best navigated from a canoe, drift boat, raft or riverboat. Boat access is near by.

Begin or end your kayak or canoeing trip from our dock. Or visit the nearby canoe and kayak liveries in Grayling or Roscommon for your float on the AuSable River. For those of you that enjoy winter sports, the cabin is located inside the snow-belt region of Michigan. The annual snowfall in this region is significant. Many snow-shoeing, down-hill skiing and cross-country skiing access areas are nearby.

This cabin is in a prime location. The North Branch AuSable, South Branch AuSable/Mason Tract, Forest Dunes Golf Course and downtown Grayling is literally 10 minutes away.

Visit charming downtown Grayling or Roscommon where you can browse the quaint shops and restaurants. The Forest Dunes Golf Club is ranked as one of the top public golf courses in Michigan. Mackinac island is 85 miles away. Hartwick Pines State Park is 15 minutes away. The South Branch AuSable River Mason Tract is 10 minutes away. Hanson Hills Ski Resort/Park is 20 minutes away. Gaylord, Traverse City, Lake Michigan, Petoskey, Houghton and Higgins Lakes and many others are a short drive away. This cabin is in an ideal central location for exploring Northern Michigan or to just rest and relax.

The cabin offers a riverside screened-in porch, 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen bed while the second bedroom has two sets of bunk beds. We offer a full kitchen, gas grill, washer/dryer and television with DVD. All linens and towels are provided.

We hope you enjoy our cabin as much as we do and hope you are able to create your own memories here.

About Wendy

We are fishing and paddling enthusiasts that have explored much of the United States. We have paddled and fished many rivers in Michigan and found the AuSable River our favorite. So in 2003 we settled in Grayling for our recreational home.

Why Wendy chose Grayling

We chose the Grayling area mostly because of the access to the AuSable River and it's tributaries. We also liked this location because it is centrally located in Northern Michigan making the rivers, parks and other attractions easily accessible.

What makes this cabin unique

We love our cabin because it is warm, homey, we have privacy and yet views of the river. The screened porch allows watching the river flow by without being bothered by the hatches that are common on the river.

Peaceful, comfortable, easy access to river.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was super clean, updated nicely and had everything we needed to enjoy our fishing weekend. The beds were comfortable. Having a private dock made for easy access to the river. Very peaceful and great wildlife viewing. Secluded yet just miles from town made it the perfect balance.

Absolutely met and exceeded my expectations and the cabin and property were very enjoyable and furnished with everything we needed and more.

The cabin was spotless as for cleanliness and comfortable from all aspects of living conditions. Enjoyed the amenities such as dock, screen porch, gas grill, and location to the Ausable River.

Thanks so much Wendy.

The absolute perfect place for a relaxing getaway!

Wendy and Dave created a quaint cottage with attention to detail! The beautiful Au Sable River is just behind the back of the house with its own private dock. If you're looking for the perfect getaway look no further!

Great newer cabin, great location for our family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We have had such a great time next to the river all week! The private dock on the property is one of the great highlights. Very peaceful! wood for fires being provided is such a help. Not sure if some supplies were left being or stocked by the owners, but practically everything we needed was already here. We brought most of our own supplies but it was very nice to find bug spray, lotion, first aid, trash bags, laundry detergent, dish detergent, paper towel, toilet paper, etc.

hose outside the car port was nice for cleaning up after a messy day. nice outdoor furniture, we cooked at home most nights and ate outside. Very tranquil and relaxing location. Only a 15 minute drive down 72 into Grayling.

Most nights we would see deer and other small animals right outside our door. They come through pretty frequent to scavenge for discarded fruits and veggies.

Yard flows downhill toward the river but not to steep that my 2 year old, newly walking, didnt have much of a problem. We met the owner Wendy, which is very friendly and accomidating. She brought a kiddie pool down for the kids to enjoy on a sunny afternoon and supplied us with bird feed to attract more wildlife. bird feeders and bird baths set up in front and back which also attracts the deer! We will be recomending this cabin to all our family and friends back home, and will definetly be coming back soon! We are sad to leave and my four year old kept asking if we could stay here forever. Great family bonding outdoor experience, would recomend to anyone thinking about it, well worth the expense!

Beyond clean, A+ property, a treasure of the north

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Wendy's place and had an absolutely spectacular time. This is the 4th HomeAway property we have stayed in ranging from the Florida Keys to here and this was by far the nicest and most equipped place we have stayed. The house was immaculately clean and set up with just about anything you could want to relax and enjoy your time. We found ourselves hanging outside either by the fire pit (wood is provided) or underneath the beautiful covered outdoor patio. The screen room overlooking the river is really quite nice as well. We honestly thought there would be a lot more traffic on the river, but there really wasn't much at all, leading to more peace and quiet. Overall, we loved the place and my only complaint is I didn't have about 4 more days there.
