Great time and great place to stay with family and friends.
Thank you! We really had a great time at your place. We had everything we needed. House is bigger than it looks. Plenty of room and right on the beach! Quiet, peaceful place out of town, yet close to many places.
Perfect location for beach combers and hikers alik
I booked this location for a week stay with my parents and my family. First of all, the location of this house is awesome. You are a short 5 minute drive south of downtown Saugatuck with Lake Michigan in your backyard and a 100 acre forest ravine preserve with trails across the street in the front yard. A week almost wasn't enough time for us as we had something to do everyday from blueberry picking at Krupka's (a five minute drive away on Blue Star Highway) to kayaking on the Kalamazoo River out of Douglas and Dune buggy riding outside Saugatuck. There is something for everyone in Saugatuck. I enjoyed being able to walk the beach every morning with a cup of coffee and not have to worry about tripping over a lot of people. It was that quiet, but you didn't feel like you were in the middle of nowhere, rather that you were lucky enough to have found a hidden gem. We spent every evening on the lower deck watching the sunset over Lake Michigan. The house was larger on the inside than what we expected from the pictures. This house has been lovingly maintained with original kitchen appliances from the 1960's. Everything was clean and in working order. The outdoor grill was wonderful for evening meals and having a bathroom with a shower in the ground floor made cleanup from the beach a breeze. The owner, Mr. Curtis, was very easy to work with and his property manager, Debbie, was quick to call back with answers to the very few questions we had. We found the property to be a good value for the price!
My favorite part of the trip had to be our almost daily afternoon visitor, an orange and white tabby cat who would come over to hang out with us as we grilled our evening dinner. He took a particular liking to my mom as he would jump on her lap for some petting. A very social and polite fellow! :)
My girlfriends and I were looking for a weekend getaway, and this house was perfect. The pictures do not do the place justice on how great it really is. It was clean without being fancy. The house has a lot of old fashioned charm, the private beach is beautiful, and is so close to town if you're looking to get out for a night on the town in Saugatuck (there's even a $15/ride shuttle service in the area!). We only left the house 1 of 4 nights because we enjoyed the beach and the rest of what the house had to offer so much. There's a ton of weird, old books that we all couldn't stop reading. It's great for a larger group, and easily accommodated a large group of girls without having to sleep on couches, air mattresses, etc. I've been to other vacation homes that were barebones beds, sheets and furniture. We packed like we were going to Mars, but this house was a real home that had anything kitchen/linen wise you could need.
This was my first use of this home away/VRBO website, and was skeptical that we were not booking through the website at first. However, the owner was very easy to work with, and the woman who was the caretaker of the house was very responsive to a few minor issues we had over the weekend (empty propane tank and plumbing issue/shower leak which you could expect with any older house), and ensured they were fixed promptly. There were a lot of smiles on my friends faces all weekend.
Lake Michigan Beach House
The beach house was a perfect house for a long weekend get a way. The house is clean and spacious for the group we had 6 adults and 2 teenagers. The beach is very private and relaxing for sunbathing watching boats or the beautiful sunsets. Would recommend this rental to friends and family, would also stay again.
A Placeto Create Memories
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Green House this summer. The location is ideal for daily trips to the beach (morning, noon and night) as well as a quick trip (or bike ride for some) to downtown Saugatuck. The steps to the beach were easily managed by young and old. The Green House really answered all of our "needs"-- a place for all to gather as a group and a place for each family (we had 3) to be on their own. We cannot wait to return.
Great beach house
We had a fabulous vacation at the lake house. The cottage was spacious and beautifully appointed. The beach was gorgeous, private and quiet. The sunsets were awesome! We felt very welcome and relaxed without the burden of so many rules and regulations required by the local real estate agents with whom we dealt in the past. This has been a very pleasant experience. Looking forward to our next visit.
