About Kamala Heath

We are English transplants who have fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest. The grandchildren love to come and spend time here.We love sharing the cabin with people who really appreciate the beautiful setting. We have spent years upgrading the property. Not easy with over 110 inches of rain a year! We are thrilled that our guests are returning and recommending the

place to their friends. Thank you to all of you and we love your nice comments in the guest book.

Kamala Heath purchased this cabin in 1984

Why Kamala Heath chose Forks

We come here to rest and rejuvenate and leave the city behind. Our family has owned and loved this property for over 30 years. Actually, the property has owned us! Especially the moles! Many of our English relatives have come to visit and are always amazed at the scenery.Last year's favourite memory was of my English buddies from high school sitting around the blazing campfire, late at night, drinks in hand, laughing until we cried. We wish to share this peaceful sanctuary with you.Make sure you take the time to walk the trails and pack a picnic for the beach.

What makes this cabin unique

Tranquility, relaxation, and seclusion. We have enjoyed watching the wildlife in the large yard. The trails are magical. Also the beach-combing,fishing and hunting is pretty good too!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Well i suppose I am a guest now in my own house,as I have to book out the nights I want for myself or my large family.I just want to say a "thank you" to all my returning guests. They must have meant it when they wrote in the guest book "we'll be back" I just had a call from a family coming back for the 5th time. I am a pretty easy drive from the Seattle and Tacoma areas. Their comment was "we have found our retreat and recharge place" It makes me so happy to share the family cabin and the incredible rain forest with gentle nature-loving people. Please continue to leave your fun comments in the guest book and I do appreciate it when you send a review into VRBO. I know you read them when making your travel plans. Thanks again and I hope to hear from you soon. Kamala.

24 Acres of Private Forest. We have created almost a mile of easily walked trails, past ancient cedar nurse logs. There is a fun quiz for the family to learn about the flora and fauna of this unique area. The trails can be muddy in winter so bring your walking shoes.

Cute cottage. We had rain, sun and snow for our stay in February, warm and cozy in the HVH.

The cottage is close to great beaches, the rain forest and rivers running into the ocean. Loved the yard and trails on property.

Great get-away

  • 5 of 5

It's just like the pictures - we even had sunshine! Cozy cottage with loads to do. This is a great place for kids. It's small but there's room and lots of games, movies and books. Absolute tops are the interactive forest walking trails for the whole family. Close to Hoh River Rain Forest and the many ocean beaches. The place is spotless. We loved it.

secluded and private cabin

  • 4 of 5

The Hot Valley Hideaway is perfectly located for visiting the Hot Rainforest and the western beaches. We loved having our privacy and we felt very safe on the property.

The cabin is very small and in my opinion is full of too much stuff, though I do understand reading the reviews that the folks with children appreciated this. That being said it felt over-crowded to us.

Owner's Response: Thankfully we have many many return guests and great referrals. You came at the rainiest, nastiest time of the year too , so probably were inside more. And yes families really appreciate the Hideaway .

A gorgeous hideaway gem near the Olympic coast and rain forest

  • 5 of 5

We love this place! It's small and cozy, and has just about everything you need. It's a great place for kids with the lawn, gazebo, and nearby trails. We can't wait to return in summer to use the outdoor shower and also to roast s'mores in the firepit - as well as curling up with a book in the gazebo.

I rented the cabin for a short vacation in November 2017. I can honestly say my expectations were exceeded. The property is secluded and gorgeous with plenty of trails. The cabin was stocked with cooking utensils, rain gear, and other outdoors supplies. Overall it was a very cozy and pleasant place to stay. I especially loved the VHS collection. I haven't watched a VHS in years and it was a good bit of nostalgia.

Highly recommended. I know I will be back.

Owner's Response: Thank you Nicholas. I love guests who don’t let the winter rains get them down! The rain is what creates all those amazing trees . Every time I think of clearing out all those old tapes l get someone who says “ l love them” Please return during our heat waves and enjoy the outdoor shower!!!

We have 3 young boys and 2 labs, everyone had a blast!! We explored the area by day and enjoyed the fire, stars and games in the evening. Having trails right on the property was awesome! Short trip, would love to have stayed longer!
