About Kamala Heath

We are English transplants who have fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest. The grandchildren love to come and spend time here.We love sharing the cabin with people who really appreciate the beautiful setting. We have spent years upgrading the property. Not easy with over 110 inches of rain a year! We are thrilled that our guests are returning and recommending the place to their friends. Thank you to all of you and we love your nice comments in the guest book.

Kamala Heath purchased this cabin in 1984

Why Kamala Heath chose Olympic Peninsula

We come here to rest and rejuvenate and leave the city behind. Our family has owned and loved this property for over 25 years. Actually, the property has owned us! Especially the moles! Many of our English relatives have come to visit and are always amazed at the scenery.Last year's favourite memory was of my English buddies from high school sitting around the blazing campfire, late at night, drinks in hand, laughing until we cried. We wish to share this peaceful sanctuary with you.Make sure you take the time to walk the trails and pack a picnic for the beach.

What makes this cabin unique

Tranquility, relaxation, and seclusion. We have enjoyed watching the wildlife in the large yard. The trails are magical. Also the beach-combing,fishing and hunting is pretty good too!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Well i suppose I am a guest now in my own house,as I have to book out the nights I want for myself or my large family.I just want to say a "thank you" to all my returning guests. They must have meant it when they wrote in the guest book "we'll be back" I just had a call from a family coming back for the 5th time. I am a pretty easy drive from the Seattle and Tacoma areas. Their comment was "we have found our retreat and recharge place" It makes me so happy to share the family cabin and the incredible rain forest with gentle nature-loving people. Please continue to leave your fun comments in the guest book and I do appreciate it when you send a review into VRBO. I know you read them when making your travel plans. Thanks again and I hope to hear from you soon. Kamala.

Hiking and Fishing Haven

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from 4 days of husband fishing for steelhead ( great catches every day with his guide) and my hiking surrounding one-day trip trails. The house is fully equipped with rain gear ( yes, it rained a little every day in the rain forest), linens, kitchen needs, reading and video/DVD material. I used many of the hiking and nature guide books she has available to plan my trips - all trailheads within 20-30 minute drives. We always talked about eating out at night - in the morning - but every afternoon when we came in and got dry and comfortable, put our gear out to prepare for the next day (the house has great heaters and drying racks)- we ended up cooking/grilling and dining in with a DVD on the player. As others comment, the house is older, but everything was VERY clean and everything worked, and it has a wonderful cozy atmosphere. We are in our 60's and past the children at home phase, but the close trails by the house and all the play equipment in the back yard/high chair/children's videos/toys on shelves would be wonderful for younger ones if this is a need. GREAT "HOME" away from home.

Best Ever Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

After a two-night stay at Hoh Valley Hideaway, my Aunt said this was her favorite rental on our whole trip. The owner is a charming English lady and was there to greet us when we arrived. The cabin is older, but very clean, and the owner has thought of everything. Just by our conversation, I could tell that she truly cares about her guests. When you visit, please read her guest book! Charming cabin, gorgeous forested property with lovely trails, and a great experience all around. Will definitely return! And will tell my friends!

This property is a private paradise. Stunning!

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I stayed here as we started our road trip down the coast. I can't say enough for how beautiful this area is at this time of year. It was amazing to just pull up and be in our own private secluded rain forest. The house is just a short drive from several amazing beaches and parks. Ruby Beach is incredible and we had it practically to ourselves because of the time of year even though it was a gorgeous day. We would absolutely recommend this place for any time of year. Especially off-season, it was perfect!

Cozy Home in the Forest

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Hoh Valley Hideaway. The house is small but it met all of our needs. I especially enjoyed my morning walks on the lovely trails which the owner has created on the property. She warned us about the pesky mosquitoes before hand so we were prepared for them. I also enjoyed the peace and solitude on the property. Her home is kid friendly. For us, it was the perfect home base for our visit to the Olympic National Park.

Owner's Response: So happy that your group enjoyed the place and all those magical trails. It is a lot to maintain as the blackberries and salmon berries want to take over any cleared areas. Most of the bugs have gone away now but it is always a good idea to bring natural bug repellant for when you tour the Hoh Rain Forest proper.I look forward to your next visit. Thanks for staying, Kamala

This is my happy place

  • 5 of 5

Outside the front door there is a sign that says “This is my happy place.” For five days, this lovely cabin and the property surrounding was our happy place. We enjoyed exploring the Hoh Rainforest and the coast, but even more, we loved coming home each day to our home away from home. We loved the trails around the property almost as much as we did the trails in the park. The benefit of having 24 beautiful acres all to yourself cannot be overstated. We made a campfire and had s’mores on several nights. The firewood is well stocked. We enjoyed having dinner on the gazebo and using the grill. Inside the home and around the property are so many thoughtful touches. Thank you for the rain gear! If there is ever a day where the rain makes it nice to stay in, there is a nice collection of board games and movies. I cannot remember a more relaxing vacation.
