About Kamala Heath

We are English transplants who have fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest. The grandchildren love to come and spend time here.We love sharing the cabin with people who really appreciate the beautiful setting. We have spent years upgrading the property. Not easy with over 110 inches of rain a year! We are thrilled that our guests are returning and recommending the

place to their friends. Thank you to all of you and we love your nice comments in the guest book.

Kamala Heath purchased this cabin in 1984

Why Kamala Heath chose Forks

We come here to rest and rejuvenate and leave the city behind. Our family has owned and loved this property for over 30 years. Actually, the property has owned us! Especially the moles! Many of our English relatives have come to visit and are always amazed at the scenery.Last year's favourite memory was of my English buddies from high school sitting around the blazing campfire, late at night, drinks in hand, laughing until we cried. We wish to share this peaceful sanctuary with you.Make sure you take the time to walk the trails and pack a picnic for the beach.

What makes this cabin unique

Tranquility, relaxation, and seclusion. We have enjoyed watching the wildlife in the large yard. The trails are magical. Also the beach-combing,fishing and hunting is pretty good too!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Well i suppose I am a guest now in my own house,as I have to book out the nights I want for myself or my large family.I just want to say a "thank you" to all my returning guests. They must have meant it when they wrote in the guest book "we'll be back" I just had a call from a family coming back for the 5th time. I am a pretty easy drive from the Seattle and Tacoma areas. Their comment was "we have found our retreat and recharge place" It makes me so happy to share the family cabin and the incredible rain forest with gentle nature-loving people. Please continue to leave your fun comments in the guest book and I do appreciate it when you send a review into VRBO. I know you read them when making your travel plans. Thanks again and I hope to hear from you soon. Kamala.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

I rented the cabin for a short vacation in November 2017. I can honestly say my expectations were exceeded. The property is secluded and gorgeous with plenty of trails. The cabin was stocked with cooking utensils, rain gear, and other outdoors supplies. Overall it was a very cozy and pleasant place to stay. I especially loved the VHS collection. I haven't watched a VHS in years and it was a good bit of nostalgia.

Highly recommended. I know I will be back.

Owner's Response: Thank you Nicholas. I love guests who don’t let the winter rains get them down! The rain is what creates all those amazing trees . Every time I think of clearing out all those old tapes l get someone who says “ l love them” Please return during our heat waves and enjoy the outdoor shower!!!

We have 3 young boys and 2 labs, everyone had a blast!! We explored the area by day and enjoyed the fire, stars and games in the evening. Having trails right on the property was awesome! Short trip, would love to have stayed longer!

Cute cabin, beautiful setting, great location

  • 4 of 5

The place was as we expected. The setting was gorgeous and we enjoyed some short walks on the property. It was a great location...central to Ruby Beach, the Hoh Rainforest, Rialto Beach and 2nd Beach. The cabin was well stocked and clean. It had everything we needed to cook our meals while we were there. Space heaters and floor board heaters kept us warm. Certainly not a 5 star resort, but we weren't expecting that. The description was accurate. Lots of information in the cabin about the surrounding areas. We did lose power in a storm our last day, so we had no electricity, heat (minus a propane heater that said not to use while sleeping), hot water, phone, or cell service. We opted to leave a day early because of this.

Owner's Response: Yes We did have an unexpected Oct storm. The whole area lost power for a few hours. This is the Rain Forest and those huge trees , while beautiful, can bring some main wires down. My helpers went down today and power was back on and no damage anywhere. I bet you had an exciting trip back to Port Angeles with all the wind gusts. Actually we rarely lose power, thankfully. Kamala

Quaint, Clean, and luxurious! You MUST try the outdoor rain forest shower!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Kamala's little cabin in the Hoh Valley rainforest. The biggest attractions to the place include the fact she has a few miles or so of private trails all around her. The trails are clearly marked so you won't get lost. You'll notice fun "monuments" strewn about the trails like "Nurturing mother", a gorgeous over grown tree with stunning visible root growth. My friend and I were able to meditate in peace within the rainforest in privacy without loud obnoxious tourists all about. The main reason we chose this place was for the privacy and ability to sleep within the rainforest. The other thing I was absolutely sad to leave behind was her all natural outdoor rain shower. There is something very electric and ethereal about taking an outdoor shower in rainforest rain water. Just wow!! The water actually feels electric on the skin, making me contemplate what bathing in tap water might actually do to our spirits/happiness. I took a shower outside at 6:30AM when it was cold, and loved the rush of staying warm in the "living" water. I've never felt so energized in mind/body/spirit by water in my life. If only I had access to one of these year round. So sad to leave it behind!

We were also super pleased with the cleanliness of the home and the kindness of firewood being available outside. We had a fire three nights in a row and roasted bratwursts directly over the fire. Having a retreat so private in the rainforest was all we could have hoped for.. Thanks so much Kamala for everything! What an amazing place! <3 I hope we can return soon!
