This very charming two-bedroom, two-bath Guest house is located on one of the most scenic by-ways in the State of Colorado and is quaint from head-to-toe! The Hummingbirds are incredible. They migrate here from South America to breed in the summer. The wild life is abundant. There are deer, elk, foxes, etc.
The views are amazing and all the other gifts shared with us by Mother Nature are breathtaking. This property was used as a very successful Bed and Breakfast from 1994 to 2003. The guest house is separate from the main house and consists of a bedroom and bath with a shower on the main floor with a private entrance and small sitting deck. It has a queen bed. There is also a combination washer/ drier in the bathroom. On the main floor there is a living room, kitchen area with microwave, stove, refrigerator and the second bathroom with tub and shower. The second bedroom is upstairs and has two queen beds. This guest house can sleep up to 6 people but is better suited for four or a family with children. It is totally stocked with amenities (pots and pans, toaster, coffee pot, bedding etc. You are renting only the guest house and not the main house. The owner lives on site in the main house. Please view all the pictures of the exterior and interior of the Guest House. The guest house is non-smoking.
I bought this place to open as a Bed and Breakfast in 1994 and enjoyed the guests and life as an Owner /Operator. I moved to Redtone in 1989 from Missouri after several trips here in the 3 previous years. I sold real estate at first but then took a job at the Redston Castle which was then called Cleveholm Manor. After working there at the front desk , I took on the position of Caretaker with my husband. That is where I got a lot of experience and decided to open up a Bed and Breakfast. I sold our home in Crystal River Park and bought this wonderful property. I have lived here since then. I now work as a night auditor at the Days Inn in Carbondale and have work there for many years. This area which is 25 miles from Carbondale and 35 miles from Glenwood Springs and an hour from Aspen and Snowmass is worth the drive as I never get tired of the beauty up here and the peace and serenity of the area. Neither will you. The mountain views from the deck and the Aspen and Spruce and Pine trees are gorgeous.
Judie M. Schmit - Owner/Manager purchased this cottage in 1994
There are so many reasons why I chose this property, but the main reason was because it was perfect for having guests get away from the busy life they lead. Access is easy. Privacy of backing up to forest service. Wildlife .It is located halfway between Redstone and Marble, the two towns that vacationers come to this area to visit. Not only can one enjoy the Crystal River Valley but one also has access to all that the Roaring Fork Valley has to offer too.
Redstone Castle tours, Town of Redstone with its unique shops and restaurants. The marble quarry with the White Marble that was used in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Lincoln Memorial and many other famous buildings. It is a great place to use as a base for exploring venues like Aspen, Snowmass, Glenwood Springs, Crested Butte, and Gunnison. There are special activities going on all year in this area. Redstone is a quiet respite from cellular interruption.
The cabin was kept very clean and had everything we needed. There was pots and pans for cooking and everything seemed to be kept very nice. We really enjoyed our stay.
Judith was very accommodating during our stay with her. All of the little things you needed were in the cabin such as aluminum foil to sandwich bags and spices were there which made things very easy.
The property was clean and very welcoming when we arrived.
The kitchen had almost everything needed to prepare simple meals and we had no complaints there. Easier access to redstone or marble would have been nice but we would return to this property in a heartbeat!
Judith was there to greet us when we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed.
Sleeping accommodations were perfect. Master bed had one of those electric fireplaces to warm up next to and just enjoy watching.
Very clean and even had some decaf coffee for use in the cupboard!
Only wish we could have stayed more than one night!
The property was ideal for our needs. Clean, cozy and fully equipped. Beautiful location and a nice quiet getaway.
Great location, easy to find and everything we could possibly need (and more) for our Fall weekend get-away.
My friends and I are looking forward to staying again at the McClure House in the Spring.
World Famous Fly fishing rivers, white water rafting, Kayaking, Historic Redstone Castle Tours, dine at the Redstone Inn, walk the boulevard with all its antique stores and art centers, etc. Marble Colorado is just minutes away with the famous Marble Quarry and Marble seminars and gift shop. There are jeep tours, horse back riding, 4 wheel adventures and hiking up to the famous Crystal Mill.
It is only 10 minutes to the free natural hot springs and hot springs at Avalanche Ranch. $0 minutes to the world famous Glenwood Springs Hot Springs, Vapor Caves and adventure Park with a mountain roller coaster. There are several golf courses, one only 30 minutes away. Aspen and Snowmass are only 1 hour away. You can drive on the scenic byway to Crested Butte and Gunnison. So many wonderful things to do in the area. There is no place like Redstone and Marble for peace and tranquility.
