About the property

Judith M. Schmit -Owner/Manager

This very charming two-bedroom, two-bath Guest house is located on one of the most scenic by-ways in the State of Colorado and is quaint from head-to-toe! The Hummingbirds are incredible. They migrate here from South America to breed in the summer. The wild life is abundant. There are deer, elk, foxes, etc.

The views are amazing and all the other gifts shared with us by Mother Nature are breathtaking. This property was used as a very successful Bed and Breakfast from 1994 to 2003. The guest house is separate from the main house and consists of a bedroom and bath with a shower on the main floor with a private entrance and small sitting deck. It has a queen bed. There is also a combination washer/ drier in the bathroom. On the main floor there is a living room, kitchen area with microwave, stove, refrigerator and the second bathroom with tub and shower. The second bedroom is upstairs and has two queen beds. This guest house can sleep up to 6 people but is better suited for four or a family with children. It is totally stocked with amenities (pots and pans, toaster, coffee pot, bedding etc. You are renting only the guest house and not the main house. The owner lives on site in the main house. Please view all the pictures of the exterior and interior of the Guest House. The guest house is non-smoking.

About Judie M. Schmit - Owner/Manager

I bought this place to open as a Bed and Breakfast in 1994 and enjoyed the guests and life as an Owner /Operator. I moved to Redtone in 1989 from Missouri after several trips here in the 3 previous years. I sold real estate at first but then took a job at the Redston Castle which was then called Cleveholm Manor. After working there at the front desk , I took on the position of Caretaker with my husband. That is where I got a lot of experience and decided to open up a Bed and Breakfast. I sold our home in Crystal River Park and bought this wonderful property. I have lived here since then. I now work as a night auditor at the Days Inn in Carbondale and have work there for many years. This area which is 25 miles from Carbondale and 35 miles from Glenwood Springs and an hour from Aspen and Snowmass is worth the drive as I never get tired of the beauty up here and the peace and serenity of the area. Neither will you. The mountain views from the deck and the Aspen and Spruce and Pine trees are gorgeous.

Why Judie M. Schmit - Owner/Manager chose Northwest Colorado

There are so many reasons why I chose this property, but the main reason was because it was perfect for having guests get away from the busy life they lead. Access is easy. Privacy of backing up to forest service. Wildlife .It is located halfway between Redstone and Marble, the two towns that vacationers come to this area to visit. Not only can one enjoy the Crystal River Valley but one also has access to all that the Roaring Fork Valley has to offer too.

What makes this cottage unique

Redstone Castle tours, Town of Redstone with its unique shops and restaurants. The marble quarry with the White Marble that was used in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Lincoln Memorial and many other famous buildings. It is a great place to use as a base for exploring venues like Aspen, Snowmass, Glenwood Springs, Crested Butte, and Gunnison. There are special activities going on all year in this area. Redstone is a quiet respite from cellular interruption.

Cozy, comfortable vacation house

  • 5 of 5

I've rented vacation homes in the Redstone/Marble area regularly for the past 10 years. McClure House stands out as a favorite! It's immaculate, tastefully decorated, superbly equipped and a great location for those visiting Marble or Redstone. Lovely flower beds and colorful hanging baskets add to the charm. Hummingbirds love it too. The feeder situated right outside the window allows for intimate viewing of 6+ hummingbirds at the same time. Loads of blankets, towels, lamps, dishes, pots and pans, sundries and cooking basics (and beyond.) The owner is charming and accommodating. A definite repeat.

Charming House and Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a such a great time, the house was cozy, clean, and had everything we needed. It was more than enough room for 4 adults and 1 child. The location was amazing, and very close to Marble, where we spent most of our time. Judie was a great host. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area!

Great lodgings at a great location

  • 4 of 5

Clean and cozy with all the necessary amenities. Judie is a fantastic hostess and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Setting is high up in the Crystal River valley, away from the hustle and bustle of Aspen. The house is adjacent to the highway but secluded from any other dwellings or businesses. The one thing some folks might think they wouldn't like about this place is its distance from the main drag between Aspen and Glenwood Springs, but we found the daily 20 minute drive (right beneath towering Mt. Sopris and just feet from the Crystal River) from Carbondale to be a relaxing end to a day of hiking and sight seeing. We would highly recommend staying here. Tip: Be sure to go to the top of the (very) nearby McClure pass for some awesome views.
