Perfect spot!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to stay. Clean, comfortable, perfect for quiet nights, yet close enough to take the ferry to Bar Harbor. Fresh seafood abound. Thanks Alison for making our stay so enjoyable. Close to national park, shopping, and local eats. Beautiful landscapes everywhere you look.

Great house with amazing views.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this house so much! It is stocked with everything you need for the kitchen to nail clippers and a first aide kit. The ocean view is amazing and we went to sleep to the sound of the waves every night. We loved the slower pace of winter harbor. Bar harbor had fun things to do and its not that long of a drive.

We ate at The pickled wrinkle a couple times and recommend that highly.

Everyone we met around town knew instantly we were from "the south" and were super nice. Allot had recommendations of where we should go and what we should not miss out on.

We recommend this house to anyone who wants a quiet getaway with beautiful views.

Lobster Lodge is Lovely!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property with every amenity you could ask for! The house is on a very quiet lot - we fell asleep to the sound of the water every night. We enjoyed sightseeing on both sides of the island and enjoyed lobster at the festival in Winter harbor and on the Wharf. Allison was great -super helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We would definitely stay here again.

Peace and beauty on the quiet side of Acadia

  • 5 of 5

From the initial interactions with Alison, the property manager, to the last day of our stay, every aspect of our stay was great. Alison was friendly, helpful and accommodating, and showed us everything we needed to know about the home.

We had a group of six and there was ample room for everyone to have their own space. The house was spotless and well equipped, and the view of the harbor and lighthouse was really beautiful. It's probably the only vacation I've had where I have found myself getting out of bed early to watch the sunrise. It was beautiful and utterly peaceful to sit on the log on the rocky shore with a cup of coffee and watch the sleepy harbor come alive. The only sounds were the waves, the fishing boats, and the bell on the harbor buoy. The first day of our stay, I found myself breathing deeply and relaxing every time I realized just how quiet and peaceful it was.

There is so much to do in the area, we barely scratched the surface! While there, we took a kayak tour in Winter Harbor, hiked the Anvil trail, took the ferry over to Bar Harbor and hiked Cadillac Mountain, and generally enjoyed all the gorgeous scenery. We spent an afternoon in Bar Harbor doing shopping, eating and people watching, and were glad to retreat to the quiet of Lobster Lodge at day's end.

The kitchen is well set up to cook for a group, and all the equipment for a lobster feast is there if you so desire. On the nights we ate out, we tried the Pickled Wrinkle and we also tried Iron Bound...both were excellent.

We had a wonderful time and would stay here again...thank you Alison for your hospitality, and thank you to Eric for building such a great place! Thank you Scott for sharing your lovely home with us. Our dog Daisy appreciated the pet sitting services from Alison's daughter, Susie :).

You won't regret staying here, it's pretty perfect! Look for the wild rabbit who hangs out in the backyard around 6:30 am.

Prospect Harbor is located on the scenic Schoodic Peninsula, home of the 'quite' side of Acadia National Park. Schoodic Point includes an 11 mile bike/car route where the crashing surf is simply majestic. Newly added hiking and biking trails offer miles of beautiful exploring. Hiking on the carriage trails or on the meandering foot paths. Leisurely or seriously steep there is something for everyone. Within the park is the Schoodic Educational Research Center which often offers classes and retreats. Prospect Harbor is about one hour's drive from Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island home of Acadia National Park and where you will find fine dining and a plethora of shopping options.

Corea Lunch on the Wharf is a must visit for the best lobster roll ever. Or enjoy a lobster dinner while looking out over the boats in the harbor. For dessert try one of Wendy's famous Whoopie Pies!
