Guestbook comments from the owner

We loved the house and the backyard.View is beautiful, you can see river from almost all the rooms in the house. We couldn't really swim in the river because the weather was not cooperating, it was cool and cloudy most of the week, but we waded and crossed to the other side one day, water was very pleasant, not too cold.Backyard is very peaceful and relaxing,we had cofee at the deck overlooking redwood trees, berry bushes and beautiful river every morning. We used the firepit most nights, owners provided plenty of wood and fire starter. House is very comfortable, beds are great, kitchen is well equipped with lots of extras, like spices, condiments, etc.Location is great, close to ocean and great hiking. Don't miss Howland Hill Rd and Whaleshead beach and its forest trail.Too bad we couldn't stay longer. Definitely worth almost 8 hour drive, gorgeous area to visit.

Peaceful, comfortable house with excellent location for exploring the Redwoods

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4, including 2 teen-aged kids, just returned home after spending a week using this property as our home base for our Redwoods vacation. The house was well equipped and very comfortable for us. The location is stunning, with the Smith River right in the backyard. The owners have equipment for outdoor games and river play available, as well as coolers for day-trip use. Thanks for sharing your home with my family and I! We had a great week exploring the Redwoods, and we were very comfortable calling your home our home for the week!!

We live in the same city as this home, we used it to get ready for our wedding and used it as her honeymoon location. The house has two separate living rooms which worked out perfectly so we could get ready without seeing each other. we love seeing and swimming on the river it was a comfortable beautiful cozy place we will always have these memories we hope we can stay there again sometime. Thank you for the opportunity to stay in this beautiful house.

What a fantastic place! I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to get away and enjoy nature. Beautiful views from the house of the Smith River, and close to amazing redwood groves.
